Staff are professional and helpful. Basis hotel, overpriced for what is on offer. Location was not as per map on Booking.com, it was 1.4km away, near entrance to Airport. Picture on Booking.com is not hotel as I did not see any pond in front with fountain unless it has recently been filled in for a car park. No onsite food (excluding crisps and chocolate bars) if you arrive after 21:30. Reception will call out for takeaway, however food took 40 minutes for a Dominos, was cold when arrived and overpriced.

During our one night stay, the fire alarm went off at approximately 7:30am, resulting in the need for all residents to vacate the hotel to the car park area. The problem was not the vacating, but the fact that on no occasion dis a member of staff give any direction as to where to vacate to, so we just went outside and milled around with all the other residents in the car parks. This remained the case, until the Fire Brigade came and checked things out and it was safe to return inside. At no time did any hotel representative give directions as to where to go or who to see, to give our names and/or room number to, so how they would have known that ALL residents were out and safe beggers belief. This being of particular concern, I feel, where there may have been parents with children and for residents who may have been disabled etc. As it was, it was a bright morning, albeit somewhat chilly, but had this been in the middle of the night, the lack of a coordinated and reassuring response from the on-duty staff, would have done little to engender a feeling of security and safety, for those who may have been half asleep or might just feel fearful of the uncertain circumstances befalling them. Overall, a very poor show all round, in a situation that by it's very nature, demands the highest of clarity, coordination and customer reassurance Of smaller consideration, but nonetheless important when seeking customer sattisfaction, was the fact that, at a later point, there were other issues concerning an unsupervised breakfast area, where several residents needed to ask for plates, cutlery and inform the kitchen that breakfast items had run out and required replenishing. Overall then, A Very Poor Show All Round ... from a Hotel that I am sure, should and probably does on other occasions, do very much better. Alas on the 13th /14th October 2011, for some inexplicable reason this just wasn't to be.

very clean, tidy and stylish hotel. 12pm checkout was much apreciated and the 'bathroom' was really nice too, i.e the the dove soap and imperial lather despensers were a great idea and the shower was amazing! found the choice of cerial and hot items at breakfast a lil lacking. Mainly the fact there was just scrambled egg and sausages, an as a vegeterian the sausage wasnt an option anyway. Also, there wasnt a leaflet stand for local emenities, and found the staff not overly informative with regards to general questions, so for example we felt 'pushed' to payin for the internet just to get directions an information on Cadbury world. But overall we did enjoy our stay here.

Convenient location to the NEC. Quiet. Not of usual Holiday Inn standards. Polite staff but room in poor state of repair, e.g. telephone cord was cut and therefore completely useless.

Clean & excellent staff. . Breakfast let down the experience, I would gladly have paid more for a better breakfast : beans and grisly sausages does not cut it!

Good location and attractive price comparing with hotels at the same location and standard. It was two of us travelling with 10 months old baby. I would not recommend this hotel for families travelling with babies. Travel cot wasn't ready on our late arrival even though we asked for twice. Once while booking and second time by phone. There was only one set of towels. We had to ask for another one. If you need quiet room I believe you need to ask for, as there is no perfect acoustic insulation in each room.

We were attending the nec for an event, so the location was in easy proximity. Our double room with sofabed was very comfy, crisp white bed linen, modern decor. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Foyer, coffee area, dining room/bar and reception desk is set out in an 'open Plan' design, which works very well. The place has a nice atmosphere, we would definitely stay there again. Due to the 'Open Plan' design, there was some noise from guests in the bar, which went on a bit too long - 2am, we were on the ground floor, very close to reception/bar etc. We were only there for 1 night, so not a problem for us, but longer than that it could be.

I regularly use hi Express hotels as I know what to expect and appreciate the usual high service etc. I was disappointed that the staff did not seem as customer centred as I have come to expect in your other hotels. The room looked tired and again not as spritely as others. Despite booking a room for three ( my eldest son who is 12 stayed with us) their was no bedding available for him on the sofa bed. we eventually found a musty old duvet in a drawer under the bed but there were no sheets, no pillows or cases and no duvet cover. i went to reception and asked for a duvet cover and we were given a single one, despite the duvet being a double. I was most disappointed and unsure if should trust the hotel brand again as much as i did. Sorry.....

I liked how the staff were helpful and friendly; they booked a taxi for us and this helped a great deal as we didn't know the area. I also liked the rooms, they were spacious and comfortable, and clean, At breakfast it took a while for the cleaner to put away dirty plates from tables and some of the tables hadn't been cleaned, but on the whole it was enjoyable.

Receptionists were friendly and when we had to have a room change, it was done promptly. The hotel shuttle bus was a good touch and very handy (although it would be helpful if it ran later into the night). The breakfast was very tasty with good choices (hot buffet and continental). Overall, a good stay but only ideal if you are visiting the nec. Unfortunately, the first room allocated to us was awful. The radiator was not working (and the room was freezing), the window latch was broken and the bedside table was dirty and sticky. The lighting was dark and dingy and the room felt generally uninviting.
