wifi is excellent spacious room staff are nice
no 3 mobile signal little choice for buffet breakfast far away from town center
The staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent location for Oxford Half Marathon.
The bed should probably be replaced.
Trouble getting around by public transport and also with the taxi.
Muhammad at reception was proactive and helpful, professional and spot on reacting to our problem with the maintenance issue we had. The window didn't shut close so the draft was unbearable. He swapped rooms immediately, being understanding and empathetic.
Clerk on Check in didn't use any info provided by us pre arrival. He was oblivious that we arrived to partake in the Oxford Half. He provided us with the basic info, no mention of where we could get a bite to eat as they don't serve dinner though. No questions if we need directions, a map or other help. Didn't feel like he was very confident in his role. The sofa beds are not suitable for adults. It was super uncomfortable and could do with a foam mattress topper as the mattress is thin as paper. Paid 95 pounds for a horrendous night sleep. The sign placed on top by housekeeping is the most rudest I've ever seen in a hotel room. A mean looking emoticon pointing the bare finger at 'YOU' in capital letters to call for assistance not to fold the bed yourselves or you get charged damages. What leads to us calling down in the morning 7.15am asking for said assistance to be told they are short staffed, not possible. Reception was made aware to then not place those rude signs on the beds if they aren't prepared to deal with the guests requests. Reluctantly she organised for someone to make some space in our room by folding up the couch. Further, there was no emphasis on the mass event happening in front of the hotels door step. Breakfast was opened 5.30 instead of 7.30, but lights were not turned on proper till 7.15 and no porridge was cooked to cater for the runners needs. Receptionist checking in friends the Friday night didn't even know the Half marathon was on that weekend despite the running helpdesk being based in the hotels meeting room! How little interest there was for their guests experience, or indeed for what's happening right in front of their nose tip. Breakfast staff can't even provide you with a pot of boiling hot water to prep your own porridge. We had to go back to the room to use the kettle there.
The noise from the main road was like a race track. The toilet was filthy with the remnants of previous occupants splattered on the outside of the toilet.
Was running oxford half marathon so ideal as right by the start and finish. Also easy access to get to city centre by bus. Definitely recommend
Clean rooms, clean restaurant ,staff friendly
only one too thick pillow, you could hear noise in detail from rooms nearby, ground floor room was filled with stale air, no vegetables for breakfast ,artifical scrambled eggs, artifical sausages
We had visited Oxford for only one day and the location enabled to depart Oxford quickly the next day. Bed very comfortable and facilities excellent.
No evening meal, but there were options close by.
very helpful staff. Good breakfast and clean, comfortable rooms.
Close to cinema
Rooms are Tired and need referb poor breakfast options
Good sized room, good facilities, WiFi worked well.
Uncomfortable bed, sofa bed even more uncomfortable. Fire alarm went off at 00:30! Very crowded breakfast self-service station- too small for number of guests.
The room design used space well
Free WiFi, comfortable rooms.
Distance from the city.
Easy location to get to Staff very friendly & able to engage with guests. Always makes you feel wanted. Room ideal for dad & two fully grown sons for an overnighter.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
No bacon at breakfast!!!
A good standard hotel.
Without satnav difficult to find. Excellent bus service to central Oxford, but it was well kept secret of reception staff.
breakfast is powdered egg deep fried sauasage and cheap beans !!!!
clean room size parking
staff was not friendly and with a serious attitude ! bus transfer to city centre
A convenient place to stay for travelling into Oxford by bus or car.
Choice of cooked breakfast was limited.
very pleasant and helpful staff, oculdnt gaurantee myself an early check in but on arrival i asked if a room was ready and they arranged for a room to be cleaned and prepared for me, this took around half an hour.
Wasnt that impressed with breakfast and the location of the buffet. it felt cramped and clustered with everybody getting in each others way whilst getting breakfast. There was a variety of food, the hot food was only tepid and wouldnt say it was hot, the eggs could have done with some livening up maybe cooked with pepper or something as tasted bland as did the sausages. I would class the food in general as average but filled a hole.
Bar staff on the Saturday night were very good and happy to have a laugh with the guests in a welcoming way.
Breakfast, it was awful low grade sausage no bacon very salty scrambled egg. Didnt even bother on the Sunday to go for it.
Staff were pleasant and helpful Good size room and bathroom Excellent shower that was big enough for the curtain not to stick to you, had god water pressure, good temperature and was hand-held not static Quiet room Plenty of car parking space surprisingly good espresso from the coffee machine at breakfast reasonable storage space in the bedroom Good workstation with sensible number of sockets Workspace not cluttered up by information about the hotel -- this was stowed in a sensible plastic hanging pouch near the kettle Adjustable heating Openable window Relatively sensible lighting -- could have doe with a central light as at night the room was a bit dark, but compared with many hotels there was a very reasonable amount of light, and it was all centrally turn-offable, or individually adjustable, which is excellent
The bed managed to be both hard and wobbly -- would not have wanted to be sharing it with another person, it was very sea-sick inducing, yet hard and unyielding and very uncomfortable The pillows come in soft and hard types. The hard ones are like granite, of the two soft ones I was given, one was what I would call medium and the other very hard. Very thin duvet that seemed not to bend, was more like a mattress topper somehow. Not very comforting. Lift door very narrow, difficult with luggage The cooked elements of the breakfast offering was quite unspeakably bad. Only three items are offered -- scrambled egg, sausages and baked beans. I didn't sample the beans, but the egg tasted like some sort of instant product, sort of powdery and gritty, a bit like instant mash, and not at all palatable. It tasted mainly of salt and nothing, did not in any way resemble egg, not even institutional scrambled egg which is often hard and rubbery and unlike homemade. This was inedible. The sausage was worse. It smelled appalling, and the one mouthful I tried was both bland and somehow very salty but in a synthetic way. The texture was more like soaked and formed Mother's Pride, or foam rubber. Nothing like a sausage, that's for sure. I didn't get the sense that it contained any meat. It was So disgusting that I was unable to swallow it and spat it out on to the plate. I then turned my attention to what else there was. There was a great range of cereals plus croissants, American muffins and a few bread rolls, but I don't eat wheat so I didn't sample them. They were accompanied by single portion packs of butter or margarine and jam, and there looked to be a reasonable selection of flavours. There was some fruit salad [tinned] which I didn't try, and some grapefruit segments which I did. They, too, were clearly tinned, and tasted as though they had been in sweetened juice or syrup rather than plain juice, which would have been preferable.
Fantastic value for money! Spotlessly clean! Lovely big rooms!
The whole experience. The building was modern and welcoming. The staff made great effort to make us comfortable.
Not that you can help, but it's a bit out of the way. That's all.
