Score from 629 reviews Good
The room location in the back of the hotel made for a very quiet stay. The breakfast was excellent. The evening service and food in the bar was very good. The WiFi was adequate and the hotel location was close enough to the Cathedral to walk if you're so inclined.
Having to pack luggage up 40+ steps - and down for dinner, and up, and down for breakfast and up and then down with the luggage.
Very good breakfast, spacious room (at the back, ask for it). A nice terrace in the garden. We were allowed to leave our car at the parking, even after check out, so nice!
About 15 minutes walk to the city center. A pity that the tea facilities were hidden in the closet.
the bed, view on the rear garden
breakfast could have been better (especially the latte)
I liked very much the hotel itself, the room was spacious and very clean and the garden was lovely. Wonderful breakfast and nice meals available, and besides, the staff was almost always very friendly. The location was really good as well, considering that we needed only 15 mins walking to reach the city centre. In my next visit to Canterbury I would definitely book the the Ebury Hotel again, it's been a really nice experience.
Cost of drinks in bar Low ceiling in bathroom Could do with redocoration
Location and friendly staff
excellent staff, good breakfast
matress could be renewed
Room very clean, good shower, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
No lift so stairs can be a problem. Bar very small, evening bar food very basic.
The staff attitude, poor plumbing, very tight bedroom space. Overall a very unfriendly, overpriced second rate hotel.
Brilliant location for cricket ground
Breakfast coffee stewed and served in metal jug (hot handle if left) with long spout (tends to drip). Breakfast otherwise pretty good.
Comfortable and spacious. Good service and access to town centre. A150 year old Lebanese cider and a Scotish pine at the back of the garden are magnificent.
Bathroom was a bit ancient.
The welcome, the bed, the room, the breakfast, the pool. Lovely staff. Great location.
Not realising the heaters were on and then them taking a while to cool.
The style of the windows added to the style and charm of the hotel and the public rooms were nicely decorated and charming. The beds were very comfortable The interesting collection of clocks in the breakfast room added charm to the room. The breakfast and evening meals were very tasty and fulfilling.
Heating in the room was not on or could not be turned on in the room and the same in the bathroom. The old sash windows mean it could be a bit noisy. The area for evening bar meals was a bit limited.
It was welcoming, comfortable and relaxing, which is what is needed after a long journey. Convenient location . Breakfast quality and choice excellent. Staff lovely and willing to ensure a good stay. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Went to make a coffee in the room to find all the cups had been 'swilled' but not cleaned and all had line marks from the previous use of the cup! Not good, but it is about resolution, and it was resolved promptly and never happened again.
The staff were very welcoming, and the guests there were relaxed and friendly. I think the overall atmosphere of this hotel matches the town (Canterbury) perfectly. I mentioned that I would like to see the large garden they have and ... they upgraded me from my single room (which was perfectly fine) to a cottage in the garden (which was wonderful!) Now, that won't happen to everyone, of course, I was just lucky. I'm writing it as an example of how the staff will try their best to ensure everything suits the guest. I also used the swimming pool, and enjoyed talking to two local ladies who were also there. A walk straight up from the bus station (Canterbury East) brought me to the hotel.
My mom and I were in Canterbury for two days and loved coming "home" to the hotel each night. The beds were very comfortable, the employees warm, welcoming and helpful, and the breakfasts delicious. Highly recommend. Thanks especially to Lorraine, Simon, and the young blond woman (who's name is escaping me at the moment) who really worked to make sure we had a great stay.
Excellent breakfast very good staff
Breakfast was excellent. Bar specials were good value and very acceptable - we had a jug of pimms. Staff were friendly.
Pool environment was stuffy -lack of ventilation.
We drove to the hotel, nice parking space, dogs welcome, spacious room. 15 minutes to town centre. And once back a comfi and warm covered pool in extremely nice (beer)garden. Towels provided by the hotel at no extracharge. Very friendly staff. Could you ask for more?
Location very convenient for cricket.
The swimming pool.
Very helpful management, and easy 1/2 mile walk to Canterbury high street..
booked large room for supplement cost which was good but on main road [thought it faced garden at rear] Would ask for rear garden facing room if available...
Looks nice, in- and outside Spacious room (family room)
Noisy room even with window closed.. Swimmingpool facilities very basic You can walk to the city center but it is not really a comfortable walking distance in my opinion. Parking facilities in the center are quite ok, especially in the eveningtime.
spacious room, staff very dog-friendly, large garden to walk your dog, nice breakfast room and tasty food
