Located within Inglewood Forest, this independently-run hotel in the idyllic village of Edenhall is only 3 miles from Penrith and highway M6, exit 40. It is an excellent base for exploring Cumbria, the Lake District, the Eden Valley and Hadrian's Wall. The hotel has 20 bedrooms with private bathrooms; a fine-dining restaurant, recently awarded a Rosette by the AA; a bar serving hearty meals; and a comfortable residents' lounge and conservatory. The hotel is on over an acre of well tended grounds- the perfect place for an afternoon drink. The hotel is located about 4 mins drive from the m6 at Jcn40 yet in a totally peaceful location. The hotel owner was friendly and she took time to chat. The food was well prepared and good value. There was plenty of info about the local area and things to see/do. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was a good size too and in spotelss condition. We ate in the conservatory in the evenings but the bar and the main dining room were also available. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It would be a nice touch if the owners introduced themselves or had name badges. There were some newspapers available to read in the bar area but perhaps one or two of the quality newspapers would be an idea. The owners have clearly worked hard on the refurbishment of the hotel with new windows throughout and we would happily return to Edenhall in the future.

Edenhall is a traditional hotel blending the perfect mix of old fashioned quality and service with current high standards of service and convenience. The location is excellent to access yet feels idyllically remote. The penthouse suite is fabulous and the whole experience contributed massively to what was a perfect weekend for us.

Very little really. However, if pushed, I would say that the food at breakfast was of an acceptable standard. This hotel is very basic, and looks tired and weary. I did not stay for an evening meal, choosing to find a pub a couple of miles away that looked clean. The room was just ok, but it did have damp very visable through the wallpaper. As previously stated the food at breakfast was acceptable, however, I was surprised not to be served the cup of tea that I was offered when I first entered the room. What made this even more surprising, was the fact that I appeard to be the only person staying - it was a Monday night. Basic lack of attention to detail, that sums this hotel up really.

The location was very peaceful, and the staff could not have been more friendly, caring or welcoming. Next time I am up in Cumbria on business, I will definitely stay here again.

The Hotel is full of character and the staff friendly and helpful,we had our evening meal in the conservatory overlooking the gardens and the local village,an ideal location for access to the lake district and surrounding areas.Would definately stay there again.

The couple who owns the hotel were very helpful and friendly! We stayed on a very busy weekend travelling to radio 1s big weekend and they came and picked us up from train station an took us back to hotel. Which we thought was very helpful. And breakfast was a treat!

I found the staff and proprietors to be efficient and welcomong ,nothing being to much trouble. Very good accommodation and exellent food.We would not hestate to visit again on our next Scotland trip to see the family. The general atmosphere was good
