Staff. Good food in the restaurant.
Scruffy, poor shower and the TV remote which you would need evening classes to be able to use.
Carpet was stained and the mattress was lumpy. On check in was told I couldn't remove a booking for breakfast the following morning even though we would depart before breakfast was served. However an offer was made to make up a continental breakfast instead. I would have preferred my £8 back.
the restaurant and bar area
run down place. worn out, dirty carpets everywhere. the doors to the room is not soundproof at all. it's like sleeping with it open. no pressure in the shower. takes forever to get wet.
Location and car park near the room window. Location is very central.
Nothing to dislike
Comfy bed and nice sheets.
Shower drain area needs some bleach as there is dirt around the drain is off putting. Key did not work properly and bar staff need to have a bit more enthusiasm about serving people. Pizza was uncooked dough and cheese was only edible. Apart from the comfy bed, I won't be missing this hotel!
Desperately needs redecorating, stained carpets.
Staff on reception very helpful and friendly. Only negative there was a noise of a fan going in room overnight
Clean, comfortable facilities, nice bathroom
Large room clean , bathroom nice and large , nice room
Music start 8, 30 very loud no way getting away from it noise everywhere , they have weddings and party's Saturdays , the noise got to me by 23,30 I checked out ,
The parking was plentiful.
I had to wait a long time to check in due to only one (very polite) lady on reception. Also to call the hotel a palace was somewhat an embelishment.
I cautiously booked this hotel as it was cheap, but ended up being one of the best value for money hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean, and despite being on a main road, it was quiet due to the rooms being at the back of the building. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. There is a large private car park at the back and the gates get locked during the night, so it seems quite safe. The location is good for the centre.
The wifi was slow and kept cutting out, so I wouldn't recommend it if you need to do a lot of work in the evening. The walls between rooms are thin, so if you get a noisy neighbour, it could be a problem.
Clean room and linen. Comfy bed. Very small room but with en suite, which is remarkable for the price. Tea and coffee
TV remote was missing, but I'm being picky
Asked for and was given an upstairs room. The room itself was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable, the freeview tv was fine and everything worked. The discounted price of £45 for an ensuite single made it good value for money.
No complaints. The worst aspect of the hotel is the very grubby and badly stained main stair carpet. Hagley Road eastbound is a very busy main road and unbelievably there are no traffic lights to control the flow of traffic on to the even busier roundabout so navigating this is a very time consuming and dangerous undertaking. The many hotels on this road should petition the Council to instal traffic lights.
The picture online about the hotel was a different thing all together so i have to book for another hotel elsewhere. I couldn't stand the smell at the hotel . It was so horrible and i dont think it should be rated as even 2 star hotel
The ability to check in extremely late (11pm) and to find a welcoming face behind reception. I was playing golf at Edgbaston Golf Club with a dinner at 7.30pm. Having telephoned the hotel around 6pm, I was advised that the traffic was heavy on the Hagley Road and it was suggested that it would be no trouble for me to arrive after the dinner. To know that a room would be available was extremely reassuring.
Room was at the front of the hotel and a little shabby but bathroom of an exceptional standard. Lighting as always in hotels is a common complaint and it was almost impossible to read by the lighting provided. Thought the charge for breakfast a little excessive and more so that it was £8 if paid for the previous evening but £12 the following morning.
walking distance from town and cinema. excellent car park. nice and clean with friendly staff. quiet and ideal location. Altogether a pleasant stay and good value for money
Good bed to sleep on
They didn't render any help to their customers who had luggages to carry up the rickety stairs
We liked the choice of breakfast.
Stair carpet a bit dirty
Lack of staff attention on (late night) check-in Lack of signage to room (413)
They had a bar that was open till midnight. Massive car parking at the back. Good shower facilities. Quiet even tho' on the main road.
1.No lift to upper floors; 2.Kippers on the breakfast menu turned out to be only 1 smallish butterflied kipper. 3.If not booked beforehand breakfast cost was £12 vs. £8 if booked the night before.
Location, clean beds, plenty of hot water, plenty of off-road car parking (but some areas are poorly lit)
Unhelpful staff who repeatedly told us that there were many new and inexperienced staff. Tiny, cramped room - with one of the twin beds directly under the window with the overlong curtain actually resting on the bed. Sash window on ground floor room (which had to be open as there was no other ventilation) opened directly onto the main courtyard where people were smoking and talking loudly and could see straight into our room with a clear view of us and all our luggage etc. Room was beside main exit door to the rest of the hotel so we had constant noise from people coming and going and the room did not feel at all secure. Badly chipped paintwork and run-down tatty appearance everywhere. Sticky surfaces in public areas. Smoke alarm in bedroom broken with all the workings hanging out. Drinks were very expensive (over £7 for a small glass of indifferent wine and a J2O) and bar was poorly furnished with the atmosphere of a transport café. Don't use this hotel unless you absolutely have to!!
superior double room was spacious
staff were inadequately trained re checking in and receiving payment for food
Liked the evening meal.
Breakfast too expensive
Bathroom was clean and comfortable.
Difficult and phoor access to the rooms. Receptionist not very helpful.
