A boutique bed and breakfast run by a young and energetic family, the Edgcumbe offers chic seaside style with a relaxed and informal feel. Surrounded by sandy beaches and with sweeping views of Summerleaze Beach and the Downs, the hotel is only a 2-minute walk from the middle of town. The Edgcumbe has the ideal location from which to explore the many sights and experiences of Cornwall. You could just stay in and have a Cornish Ale or cappuccino in the cafe style bar, or a glass of wine in the contemporary sun lounge. Hotel Rooms: 13

An excellent hotel, very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is very family orientated. The hotel has superb views of Bude and is within easy walking distance of Bude centre. Breakfast was delicious and sets you up for the day. I highly recommend the Edgcumbe. As with anywhere in Cornwall parking can be a problem, but the Edgcumbe does have spaces of its own.

From the initial welcome to check out, the staff (it's a family run business and it shows) were helpful and attentive at all times, always ready to recommend things to do and see in the locality. The view from the front encompasses the beach, the river and the canal, the large sun room is warm and comfortable even in February. The bar (also large and comfortable) serves an excellent selection of Cornish ales (I recommend the Betty Stoggs), and the bistro does a great steak. The town is compact and thankfully devoid of the mainstream shops that you see in virtually every other place in Britain (although there is a Waitrose about 7 miles away if you are desperate). We went for a short honeymoon and we'll definitely be going back.

The Edcumbe was very welcoming and friendly. It had a very relaxed atmosphere and the conservatory area/bar was very comfortable with a selection of books and games to play. It was in a very convenient part of Bude with easy access to shops, bars and beach. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice. We would definitely stay again if we were to go back to Budge. There was nothing we could fault about the Hotel. It far exceeded our expectations.

There is such a beautiful view from the hotel. It is in a lovely little, practically unspoilt bay. Breakfast was varied and excellent. We got a parking space right outside the hotel. There is a very well made swimming pool in the rocks. There is a bistro by the hotel that overlooks the beach and surfing equipment can be hired from there. There is a tidal river and boats can be hired to go on the canal that is right there. We played tennis (still in the bay). It cost £7 per hour. There are other activities there. Nice places to eat but not cheap, except the fish and chips. There is a sainsburys behind the hotel.

Lovely, friendly staff - couldn't have been more welcoming. We stayed in room 11 which was nicely furnished and had a fab view of the beach. The bed was a bit soft for us but thats the only negative.
