They didn't say that the bathroom was shared and not private
Clean basic room. Excellent choice if you plan to spend the majority of your days out and about. Included breakfast was excellent.
People in adjoining rooms can be noisy.
The on-site facilities are good, with a very generous and diverse breakfast buffet to suit all tastes. Additionally, the on-campus bar serves food in the evenings after the main dining hall has finished service. The Halls themselves are within walking distance of Princes Street and just up the road from Arthur's Seat, so whether you want to head into town or go hillwalking you're in a good spot. There are bus stops nearby if you don't feel like walking. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, as are the shared facilities. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
The communal kitchens provide access to microwaves and fridges, but do not have any cutlery or crockery, so self-catering options are rather limited unless you bring these items with you.
Cleanliness, lovely environment, the breakfast is great, which is full of options that you can find whatever you want. remind me of college life
nothing, only if the price could be more lovely
Helpful staff Clean shared facilities Excellent breakfast
A little noisy on Saturday night but it was August bank holiday and the penultimate day of the Fringe festival
The grounds were very nice, staff were wonderful, food was good, room was clean.
Breakfast was excellent as was the cleanliness of the buildings and the rooms.
No ensuite toilets, necessitating a walk along a corridor several times during the night.
This the third year we have stayed at Pollock Halls when attending the Edinburgh Festival. It is an excellent venue, ideally situated and excellent facilities. We will be going back next year
Awesome, biggest breakfast I've ever seen!
Felt a bit isolated in my room on a corridor - but that is what hall are like I guess
The breakfast sets you up for the rest of the day. Everything has been thought of especially for vegetarians but where were the kippers this year?????? I like to lesve my luggage often until about 5 and this process is efficient.
Where were the kippers for breakfast this year????
Even though the rooms were in a separate block the security was good. The inclusive breakfast had an excellent choice which should provide a good start to the day for everyone. It was great to have free wifi provided at accommodation so reasonably priced.
There wasn't really much we didn't like although the restaurant was extremely busy when we went for breakfast on the first morning of our stay, going later on subsequent days it seemed to be much less busy.
It was clean and simple, it was a short 10 minute walk to the centre of the Festival and Edinburgh. It was good value for money, especially as rents are so high during the festival.
Make sure you're aware that it's shared bathrooms/showers. Although this was fine - there were plenty of showers and toilets and you didn't have to wait. They were cleaned daily. Check in took a long time - which was odd since all information had already been given online and payment had gone through online. It was less time watching Festival comedy.
Friendly staff-ood facilities,food excellent
mattress was a bit pants-but nothing major
I like the location, the morning breakfast, the good transport into the city, the pleasant greeting by the "bedders" each morning and the helpfulness of the staff at the reception.
Nothing major. I did prefer the brightness of the room in Grant to the room in Holland House, but the hot water tap in Grant did not flow quickly enough. My ideal would be an ensuite in Grant if the water was okay
no private bathroom
The standard, quality, quantity and variety of breakfast available was outstanding. The staff were polite and very helpful especially the lovely lady in the box as you drove in. She went beyond being helpful. Everyone was polite.
Prices going up because it was Tattoo and Fringe. Single rooms ok but shower facilities not great. Soap dispenser needs to be moved as I got a nose bleed when I turned round.
Had a fantastic view of Arthur's Seat from my bedroom. Breakfast was great.
Doors banging in the night. Otherwise quiet, no TVs or talking where I was.
breakfast locality to Edinburgh city and attractions
had to wait for a table to have breakfast, very busy
Breakfast Cost Clean towels daily TV Wifi connection
A few teething problems with card key
doors banging all night
Spent a night at the Edinburgh festival and for what I wanted it was perfect; low price and within striking distance of city centre. Breakfast included in price was superb. Lots of choice and eat as much as you like.
Spent 2 nights here to take in the fringe festival reception was very helpful, gave me all the info that I needed and just 20 min. walk from all the things wanted to see Best breakfast you can get bar none!
The accommodation was good value and the staff very helpful. Our primary aim was for our 17 year old grandson who plans to apply to Edinburgh University to get a flavour of university life, so it was very useful from that point of view
My husband and I had to stay in a different building from our grandson and we couldn't even access each other's buildings because our keys only worked in one building. It was very crowded and breakfast was a mad scrum.
Gorgeous view and short easy walk from town. Also the breakfast buffet was superior to anything i have ever seen. Absolutely magnificent and catered for everyone. staff were approachable and the rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable
