The staff were excellent, providing the kind of help I would expect from a 4 or 5 star hotel concierge.

We were visiting Edinburgh for the university open day on 3rd September and decided to travel the day before to have chance to look around Edinburgh and attend the music/firework display. I was impressed with the lady on reception, who greeted us warmly even though it was after 11pm when we checked in. The room was very clean and the bed linen was lovely. We were ideally placed to attend the open day on 3rd September and the breakfast gave us a good start. I did not think that Pollock Halls offered particularly good value for money, but it was ideal for our purposes. My other son and his girlfriend chose to stay in Edinburgh city centre as they were able to find a late booking in a quality room for the same price.

I have stayed here many times. I like the buffet breakfast, the bar, the view of Arthur's seat and the general atmosphere with both young and old enjoying varied activities. It is always clean, there is not T,V in the rooms but I dont like T.V anyway. I like everything, except they used to have little complimentary packs of soaps etc and I did not get one this time.

The location. It is not so far to the center by walk. In 30 minutes you can get the center and the Train station. I would prefer not to compart the bathroom

Location was great. Very organized reception. Laundry facilities fantastic. Nice view from room. Near-by hikes perfect. Swimming pool around the corner Water was off for 2 days and no compensation was offered. Would have appreciated free wi/fi. Breakfast abundant if a bit greasy.

I was very impressed with the friendly professionalism of the staff when they had to deal with the challenge of a water shortage when a main broke, affecting the water supply to the halls last weekend. I was also impressed with the comfort of the beds--we slept very well!

Location okay for walking into town but taxis readily available. Excellent value for money - outstanding breakfast choice. View of Arthur's seat is great. Problem with water supply (burst main) during my stay but it was dealt with reasonably well.

The room was excellent. Very clean with appropriate add ons such as a kettle. I liked the choice of breakfast - very varied - even if I wasn't keen on the haggis (found it very fatty, different to haggis I've tried in the past).
