En suite was good Bed was nice and firm
Cleanliness of room and en suite.
Shower slow at draining.
Stairwell at the back entrance
Too hot when sleeping . Not very clean. Beds hard and lumpy.
we liked relaxed atmosphere in the hotel, the nearness to city centre - walking distance and many buses. we liked the clean, warm, comfy room. we liked the price. we liked the warm shower and en suite bathroom. thank you.
Location, price, availability, size of the rooms, good staff always available.
Why to pay wifi? Should be included free on the price. It would attract more clients.
Good location, easy to get to the main attraction in food. easy parking.
Renovation happening while we were staying.
Note there is extra payment if you check in after 22:00!
- it was close to the bus stop on 11 bus route (useful for going out to Britannia) - left luggage room - tea and coffee facilities which was replenished. - clean bathroom with good powerful shower
- smell of cooked food in reception - staff efficient and approachable but looked harried and harassed - very small second part of the stairs for the second floor, difficult to negotiate narrow stairs with suitcases - easier and safer to use the wider stairs in the fire escape. - thin plywood type interleading doors between separate rooms, and main door into our room. - shape of bathroom sink not condusive to washing your face.
Location, comfortable if small room
Walls seemed a little thin, could hear other guests leaving in the early hours.
It's nice, clean. The rooms are clean and more I loved the washroom it's clean and tidy with all the basic necessities. And the convenient part is its close to nearby bus stop which directly links to Central edin burgh overall value for money.
1st room we weregiven u couldnt even open the door properly as it was so small and banged off the bed. Carpet had frayed at bathroom door showing the carpet gripper which i sliced my foot on but after complaining to the porter we were moved into a better room.
The room was very small, the hotel was noisy, staff service was poor. The fire alarm went on and off several times early one morning. We had to sleep with the window open because It was very hot in the room, the central heating was on, it was august so it was not cold. I do not recommend this hotel
Friendly staff Comfortable bed
Our room looked out on a street that remained busy through the night, and breakfast was a disappointment after all the hearty B&B breakfasts we've had - it's continental only, no hot breakfast offered and it's all self-service
breakfast was poor. staff didn't understand English very well
Decor horrible , very tired paint and plaster hanging off ceiling.
Shower and Tea/coffee facilities ok. Car parking on street outside the hotel.
Family room booked. On arrival given an attic room very small. Double and single beds against wall with just eneough room to get out at one side of bed. Velux window over bed, room stuffy. Had no wardrobe just one hook to hang clothes
The location is good, on the bus line between Ocean shopping center (where the Britania is moored) and downtown Edinburgh. There are several more B&B's on Pilrig Street. Check out some of them.
The receptionist was surly. I had a basement room, right under the reception and dining room. It was extremely noisy. The only ventilation came from opening the windows, which added to the noise. The room was dirty, with items from the previous tenants left on the floor. The shower head leaked into the ceiling and when I told them about it, housekeeping did replace it, but left dirt all over the floor. Reception did not have change for a pound note or batteries for the remotes and seemed to do as little as possible for me. The locks on the doors seemed inadequate and I did not feel safe in the building.
Really good cleanliness and bathrooms. Really big TV. Maid cleans every day. Good value for money.
Staff could be a bit sharp. Bit of a trek into town
Large double room with spacious ensuite. Very clean.
Room was in the basement, if any complaint maybe a bit dark.
the newly installed on suite
a cramped room, window did not open,i had to hold the kettle to boil, the lead did not reach floor,
promised computer access throughout hotel and didn't deliver - I wasn't the only one to complain. Also they charge 3 pound per day!!! Also charge for breakfast 8 pounds per day. Generally dated decor. A rip off. My advice - Don't go there.
No table lamp!
The room was clean, bathroom modern.
It was a bit far to the center of town. There is a bus a short walk away but we walked (uphill) to center of the city. Beds were actually too firm, resulting in a sore back. Also to reach our room, we had to go up a staircase across a hall, then back down a staircase because this is actually 2 buildings connected on the second floor. Very inconvenient.
The location Staff were helpful and pleasant
The smell of the room Furniture needs updating In need of decoration
Room Cleanliness close to city good breakfast
