Quiet, comfortable and convenient location to the castle and city sights. Interesting history as the old Simpson Memorial Maternity Hospital...fascinating pictures and regulations framed on the hallway walls.

It was a clean, well presented and friendly hotel. The room was more than I expected, with a big tv and a lovely en-suite bathroom. The staff were helpful and the location was close enough to walk to all the sites in Edinburgh.

We stayed only one night at the Edinburgh City Hotel when we attended a gig at the nearby Usher Hall. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the Usher Hall and because of the price. To be honest, because the price was so good our expectations weren't very high.We are suitably ashamed! The rooms were clean and fresh, the service was excellent and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. A delicious breakfast was served in our room at exactly the time we requested. Thank you for making our short stay in Edinburgh a pleasant one! The double bed, though very comfortable, seemed much shorter than the average length of bed.

Very clean, friendly hotel. Felt like a bit of luxury at a very decent price for the centre of Edinburgh. Very quiet and the staff were very nice and efficient.Room was spotless, with all the the little touches that make a stay pleasant and relaxing.

The City Hotel was nicely decorated and appeared to be newly renovated with a plush tv. It was away from a main road and very quiet and relaxing. The service was good and the breakfast good value for money. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

The price and location could not be beat. The room was attractive, modern, and we'll equipped. The ensuite had a full bath in it! Everything was clean and well maintained. My one and only complaint was the mattress, which was super thin, with no cushioning. I could feel the springs with my hands. The cheapness of the mattress was surprising given the quality of all the other amenities.

The price & location were ideal for our purpose. The staff were friendly, and helpful and the Restaurant options, including breakfast, were fine. Good value for money. Would definitely book in again when back in Edinburgh.

The hotel is very close to all the places of interest. Good value of money , was very cosy and the tea and coffee facelatias in my opinion was up to standerd to a 5 star hotel . There was no entertament , once we went down to the bar for a drink , there was no one and drinks are expensive .

Hotel was close to the site I was visiting, and also close to the Grassmarket where I went for dinner. Would be an ideal location for a weekend stay, close to Castle. Hotel was in a great building, room was very comfortable and clean, with good facilities. Breakfast was great, and good value too.

Room service was poor, breakfast was poor, bar service was poor, no effort was made to make our honeymoon special despite the fact they knew the reason for our stay at the time of booking. Said room was spacious, was tiny with a very small bath. Very dissapointed.

The rooms were newly refurbished and they were lovely and cosy. Also, the night staff Carl was excellent and did everything asked of him by me despite keeping the bar going until all hours in the morning (I do know it is a 24hr bar but people should sleep at some point and i'm sure he had other work to do). Best New Years I have ever had! The only problem was that the housae keeping lady on 1 occassion came and we were still in, I said to come back at 1 she didn'T. I called the reception to let housekeeping know that we were definitely out of the room by 2pm but again nobody had come to clean the room when we returned at 6pm.
