The location was excellent, the staff were brilliant and the hotel itself was very atmospheric. We were upgraded to a superior room (at no extra cost) and this made out city break perfect! I cannot fault the service we received and the quality of our room. Thank you.

The hotel is very close to all the places of interest. Good value of money , was very cosy and the tea and coffee facelatias in my opinion was up to standerd to a 5 star hotel . There was no entertament , once we went down to the bar for a drink , there was no one and drinks are expensive .

Hotel was close to the site I was visiting, and also close to the Grassmarket where I went for dinner. Would be an ideal location for a weekend stay, close to Castle. Hotel was in a great building, room was very comfortable and clean, with good facilities. Breakfast was great, and good value too.

Room service was poor, breakfast was poor, bar service was poor, no effort was made to make our honeymoon special despite the fact they knew the reason for our stay at the time of booking. Said room was spacious, was tiny with a very small bath. Very dissapointed.

The rooms were newly refurbished and they were lovely and cosy. Also, the night staff Carl was excellent and did everything asked of him by me despite keeping the bar going until all hours in the morning (I do know it is a 24hr bar but people should sleep at some point and i'm sure he had other work to do). Best New Years I have ever had! The only problem was that the housae keeping lady on 1 occassion came and we were still in, I said to come back at 1 she didn'T. I called the reception to let housekeeping know that we were definitely out of the room by 2pm but again nobody had come to clean the room when we returned at 6pm.

The staff exceeded all our expectations in every way. The hotel was extremely quiet, even on the street side (we had 2 different rooms). And the mattresses were amongst the best my wife and I ever slept on.

It was in excellent location, the price was unbelievable good. The room was clean and comfortable either for a young couple or family or business stay. The staff was helpful and we even got a christmas card personally signed by the staff, Laurent made us a coffee in the morning, which was excellent and we had a chat, which cheered up our morning. I really enjoyed staying there and if we go again, we will come there and suggest it to our friends. Many thanks for the pleasant stay!!!!! Andrea Nagy and Michele Pirazzzini It was perfect!!!!

Quiet location but in easy reach of city centre shopping, attractions and night life. The staff were very friendly and attentive and I could not fault the service, cleanliness or the quality of the food on offer. The hotel is only around 1 k from both main rail stations and the Service 35 bus from the Airport, (not the Airlink service) stops are about 150 metres from the hotel. Probably not an ideal hotel for families with young children but would highly reccomend to all other travellers and groups.

The bedrooms were well decorated and clean. The quality of the furnishings were good. There was painting and decorating goin on and the paint fumes affected my partner. The hotel appeared grossly under staffed and there were more guests than tables and chairs. This meant we were unable to sit together as a family which spoiled it for us. We had arranged a rare family get to gether and this took the pleasure out of our trip. The bar was poorly stafffed.

We loved the large, comfortable room and cosy beds. Great and yummy breakfast too, you could book the night before and with the voucher received the breakfast (no matter whether continental or full Scottish!) only cost £6,95. Quiet neighbourhood and only a short walking distance to Grassmarket and the Castle.

The room was on the top floor ,modern very clean and comfortable. Within walking distance to pretty much the whole city very close to grass market where there was some nice bars n restaurants(wouldnt recommend heels for this walk as the hill down is very steep.) The bar was much smaller than it looks in pictures, there was no trained bar person behind bar it was just who ever was at reception at the time who served us,staff could have been better trained got the impression nobody was quiet sure what they where doing but they where friendly, I did not eat in there restaurant so cant comment but menu looked very nice. I got a glass of wine that was completely off but staff had no problem changing drink with no charge.

The hotel is behind Edinburgh castle, which is not really city center. City center and main attractions are at another one side of castle. The hotel is a bit far by walk from a city center. Clean hotel, nice old house. Best value for money, because the price was really low.
