Hotel location was good. Facilities were good and staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Very comfortable bed and room was very quiet at night so sleep was no problem. All round recommendable to anyone.
Breakfast could benefit from a teapot to make the tea to avoid running up and down for separate cups of tea. Evening meal maybe needs a wider menu and more generous portions.
The staff were exceptional
Just a little to far to walk from the Royal Mile.
Breakfast, Staff, location all good
Attention by the General Manager to personally apologise for the condition if the tiles in the bathroom, he would not offer the room however all of Edinburgh was booked out due to the Ryder Cup. I was given half price for the room robe and slippers. Everything in the bathroom was functional, the bed was very comfortable and all facilities were excellent. I would recommend the hotel to any traveller based solely on the attention and pride shown by the General Manager and his staff
Location great to visit sites. Staff helpful and polite. Has Car-Parking for some where otherwise it would be a very expensive area to park on the street. Breakfast had plenty of variety and choice and was decent.Room-Size was good including sofa and table as well as large bed.
All a bit vanilla needs to develop its own character. And please obtain one more tea-making machine. A coach party was there during our visit and the queue at brekkers for tea and coffee was a bit daft.
the hotel was in a good location, not too far from the busy centre but nice and quiet at night. the hotel was immaculatley clean , the room was good size, and the staff were very polite and very helpful.
there was nothing i didn't like
The decor The Wifi the closeness to the Grass Market
Staff friendly and very helpful. They gave me an early check-in which was wonderful having travelled from Kuwait. The room was a very good size. I could not hear any noise from the corridor. My request for a twin room was fulfilled without any problem.
There was an unpleasant smell in the room for the duration of my stay. It seemed worse at night time. It was quite humid when I arrived and the room was too warm. I think that lack of ventilation may be the problem.
Cleanliness, size of room, quality and value of evening meal and breakfast Free wi-fi and room service options. Central location for the city attractions.
Price! but as as with all other hotels on University induction weekend it was a captive audience! Partner and daughter stayed there in March, for half the price....... fantastic value for quality and location!
The location was central enough to walk to all of the major tourist areas and Fringe locations. Front desk staff was very helpful and pleasurable. No street noise, but not on the outskirts either.
Our bed was terribly uncomfortable. Like the worst. Also, while the wifi was free, it was very spotty within our room and at times did not work at all. It would be great to provide wash cloths as well.
The location was great for easy access to walk everywhere. Lovely quiet, large bright room. Very nice helpful staff.
Location Bountiful breakfast Cleanliness
No phone for local calls
Proximity to castle for the tattoo
Lifts were very slow
nowhere much to sit in the bar
friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. About 6 minutes walk at a leisurely pace from main areas that tourists go, but just far enough away for it to be peaceful even when the fringe is in town.
Really cheap tasting sausages on what was otherwise a fantastic scottish breakfast
Location was great, central to most things
The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very good. Rooms very clean and comfortable, staff very helpful. Great location, very close to Grassmarket. Nice surprise to find out that the building was Simpsons Maternity Hospital - I was born at Simpsons!
The cooked breakfast wasn't such a success. The sausages were burnt, thankfully my daughter's were fine. I didn't mention anything as it had taken a while from ordering to arriving at the table and I was hungry.
- Lovely building with great history - Modern meets old - Almost all staff friendly - Good breakfast choice
- If not purchased with the room, breakfast would be pricey
Cleanliness. Friendly staff.
Poor lighting in room.
Staff very friendly, breakfast good, very clean, reasonably short walk to sights and Festival
Wifi connection not great
Reasonably priced. Good location City Centre Hotel Clean & Tidy
Small room on the top floor, Sloping ceiling so banged my head when l got up. Because on the roof noisy roosting birds woke us early.
Nice hotel, good breakfast.
Bit pricey compared to novotel & premier inn in same street but unfortunately due to timing and limited accommodation in central location had no option. Never the less was a nice clean hotel, lovely room.
Great room size, very clean, nice staff.
A bit pricey !!
Very quite and comfortable
One mug with chip on rim
Room next to main road
