Friendly welcome, location closed to city center. Room fine, old décor, bathroom tiny, mould on the ceiling, cubicle door did not close properly, no hot water at 4 pm, had to phone reception and wait for 20 mms to have a shower. Sunday morning, arrived for breakfat 9 45 to be told, you should have read the brochure, no more cooked breakfast after 9 30. We pleaded and were asked to sit down and informed that after all full english breakfast would be served. Whilst waiting were offered tea and toast. 20 mns passed another waiter asked us again for our order , another 20 mns, the Manager arrived and said* there was no way cooked breakfast would be served*, Appaling is the word that came to mind.Paid our bill, were deducted 10 for not having breakfast, and when we asked the Manager for Directions, his reply was **don’t live here*.. Very poor customer service, a word of advice be there at 9 am for breakfast Mond. Sat. Or 9 30 on Sunday or else…

Room was very good with ample furniture, comfortable bed and sound proofing. Well received on arrival and good car parking facilities. 5 min walk to city centre. Breakfast was somewhat lacking. Cooked choice was reasonable but execution was not the best. Had poached eggs with bacon & toast; the bacon had obviously been cooked prior to order then recooked and the coffee was pretty weak..

Excellent and friendly attitudes from the staff along with the very high standards helped make our stay memorable. This was a wedding anniversary "get-away" for us and the staff recognised this with their "congratulations" and a complimentary bottle in our room - a wonderful gesture! The food was delicious and the location proved very handy with a 5 minute walk into the town centre! We would recommend this hotel and we would be happy to stay here again when in Gloucester No lift and so many stairs!

I suffered a severe and unexpected back problem on my 4th day. The hotel team were very helpful in finding and facilitating a visit from an osteopath and helping with problems arising from the disability. Facilities were commensurate with the charges (we had one of the more expensive rooms, which was spacious and comfortable) but the hotel was parhaps better described as an up-market bed-and-breakfast.

It was a walk away from the city centre. There was a car park. The breakfast was fine. The hotel owner was knowledgeable about the city and seemed proud of it. He recommended us to restaurants which were good. We found the hotel in need of decoration throughout. Our hotel room was dark and gloomy and quite oppressive, the plug was too small for the bath (which I told owner about). Owner told us this was an upgrade! - we are guessing that was due to the hotel not being busy. There was a lot of dust on the four poster bed/drapes.

The location was close to the city centre, the staff were very friendly and the room was clean and very comfortable. The decor of the room was nice, the room was quiet and the breakfast was very good, with lots of choice. The only slightly negative point was the parking, which was available on site but a bit of a squeeze.

Very good, 8.3
Score from 451 reviews
“Our stay at the Ibis was very impressive, it was both comfortable and very clean. The staff were excellent, especially the two staff members that were on duty Sunday morning breakfast, one being the shift manager Alison, and the other being a well turned out polite and courteous young man, (unfortunately I can not remember his name) he was also on duty Saturday and always had a smile on his face and spoke to everyone whom he came in contact with, he was a credit to the hotel. We will definitely be staying there again. And will recommend the Ibis.” Ray, Trusthorpe |
