The hotel was just what we expected, great location and we were more than happy with the room. It was warm and cosy and the bed was ok which I think is extremely important for a good nights sleep. The downstairs area was just amazing and we enjoyed our breakfast in a spectacular suroundings . We will return without hesitation .
Nothing it was great
Room was nice, and very clean. Slept on the ground floor and was very quiet. Very good location looking out onto Esthwaite Water, very out of the way from anything else. Can walk straight down to the lake Very comfortable bed, tv worked fine and had a good few channels. Breakfast room is extremely nice with amazing views, very nice breakfast, especially the scrambled eggs.
Only down fall would be that the place is very far away from anything (pub, restaurant etc.) however I felt this was a good thing as we had a car.
Breakfast Gardens Style
Food and accommodation was excellent.
Everything was spot on.
The breakfast was lovely. Beautiful setting. Peaceful.
No service when we arrived and a frosty response when, after 10 minutes of ringing a bell, I knocked on a window. Slightly grubby carpet. No shower (only bath). Felt slightly unfriendly.
The location is excellent...
... but the customer service and comfort (value for money) not so great. The service during the stay was adequate but possible I expected more from 5star?
Everything about the guest house, the food and the rooms. Staff very friendly and beautiful views of the lake.
Beautiful setting and grounds. Brilliant breakfasts. Easy reach of Lake Windermere.
It's the Lake District. What's not to like?
The total and quiet ambience of this most beautiful and small village. The maitre de, Richard, is not only a superb chef but also a most amenable and engaging host.
Nothing worthy of mention.
Tranquil and idyllic overlooking Esthwaite Water. We very much enjoyed our stay here. Walked along to Tower Bank Arms for evening drinks. Lovely breakfast and then a walk over the fields to Esthwaite - perfect .....!
Can't think of anything.....
Excellent location with wonderful views. Scrumptious breakfaste. Very helpful staff.
My mum and dad stayed and enjoyed every minute. Wonderful hospitality, food was amazing. The room was beautiful with exceptional views and also every need met with thoughtful touches.
It's a tranquil place with fabulous view. Owners are very kind and we had an excellent stay there.
The bathroom is separate and we need to go out of room to access.
Everything, wished we could have stayed longer!
The views, the room, food and the extra touches like sherry and nuts!
One packet of biscuits per room - we're greedy!!
Wonderful country hotel. Service and food was impeccable. Location is absolutely idyllic. The house is well-maintained and Richard and Margaret are wonderful hosts. We had a wonderful three night stay and would return.
I was charged £35 more than what it was stated on the booking
Great location overlooking the lake. Easy to find with a very welcoming reception on arrival.
Wonderful view of Esthwaite Water from bedroom and public rooms.
En-suite a bit squeezed in. Lady who serves breakfast rather severe, chap next door did not eat all his tomatoes! This was commented on. Don't think he got any the next day. Her husband, also the cook was lovely.
Great Location/views Excellent food Country House feel
Nice room. V comfortable. Left items in room. Owner contacted us and is posting them back.
The smell of cooking in hall. Only shower not bath
We enjoyed an excellent, relaxing stay for four days over the New Year. The breakfasts were delicious. The owner was friendly and very helpful to us. We would recommend Ees Wyke to anyone.
Beautiful country house with gorgeous views from dining room and some rooms. The host was pleasant and welcoming. House spotlessly clean. Good walks and Lake on doorstep. Great local pub serving decent food and real ales 5 minute walk away
Arrived late due to accident on motorway to be told flatly we needed to have prebooked dinner before arrival..no exceptions - so please be aware! After spending half the day stuck on the motorway with nothing to eat, we then had to drive around to try to find an alternative restaurant in the dark on a Saturday night .. Not ideal! Breakfast was good but a little greasy and the woman serving was sullen and inhospitable. It upset us and spoiled our enjoyment of the views and the food. If I had known just how rude this woman had been to my wife at breakfast I would have refused to pay. My wife didn't want to cause a fuss and only told me on way home. I had read reviews about how off hand this person can be but put it down to perhaps a misunderstanding or guests being too sensitive, but believe me this person is in the wrong job and has no customer care skills whatsoever and is plain rude. So much so that whilst the location was ideal and the host was personable I will not be returning.
We loved the location and the view of Esthwaite Water. We also liked the breakfast which was very good. Lovely view from room. Sherry in the room was a nice touch. The man was friendly and hospitable.
We did not have an ensuite bathroom which was quite inconvenient. There was no bar and the lady was not very friendly or welcoming. Very expensive for what we had.
