Excellent staff, very friendly and efficient service. Excellent breakfast. Room I stayed in was in the annex, clean and comfortable but in need of updating. Unable to get internet due to poor signal in the room. Concern regarding the neighbouring bedrooms, as there is no insulation between the rooms, therefore everything could be heard including conversations and bathroom usage.

The staff were very friendly. The hotel had lovely grounds, would be really nice in good weather. It took 50 minutes to get our bar meal, the bar was empty so no reason for delay that e could see. At breakfast we had to ask for tea/coffee and they forgot my cooked breakfast consequently my husband had finished his breakfast before mine arrived.

Great staff, good service , very good food and choice! Comfortable rooms with good facilities. Felt very comfortable throughout my stay. Found the do not disturb sign hard to hang on door as every time I tried to close the door it jammed in the door! The taps in the bath are so close to the wall it was hard to turn them on and off!

Very little Booked through booking.com the hotelsaid they had no record of the reservation even though I gave them my booking reference and as such did not have a double room available as they were full as the hotel was fully booked with guests from a 50th birthday party that evening for a member of staff, as they had feature a wedding fair that afternoon they gave me the bridal suite, this room is very dated, very poor hot water supply in the bathroom sink and no hot water pressure at all in the shower. The restauant was not available due to the party but a very reduced menu was available to eat either in the bar, which by 7pm was full with party goers or in the room, we went for the latter option and ordered two steaks, one mediumrare and one medium, both came well done to solid and yje supplement peppercorn sauce was no more than powder with hot water, no trace of peppercorn, and the constituency of dishwater, the whole eating experience was disgusting. Having stayed at other Macdonald hotels and the reputation of the Egerton in the local area it was an experience that will never be repeated, the private function for the staff member took total preference, the hotel should have been closed to outside residents

The overall quality of accommodation was what we would expect of a hotel with such recommendations on the internet. Lounge areas and dining room were delightfully decorated ready for Christmas. Breakfast was very good and served by a delightful waitress. some of the room facilities did not work, ie. the standard lamp and the heated towel rail. Desk chair was very unstable and the room could have been ploished/dusted before our arrival

Just a series of things that didn't work as expected and added to the irritation - Hot water took ages to come on in the morning; shower pressure was a dribble; wi-fi didn't work in the room.

Egerton House has a very nice atmosphere. It is a comfortable hotel with attentive staff and good food. The shower in the en-suite was one of the worst I have ever used. We did not feel it warranted the price we paid for B&B, we have paid far less in far more superior hotels.

Room, breakfast and Lady who served breakfast. Receptionist was very helpful and polite. Fresh and crisp towels and bed linen. Missed out on details that you feel you should not have to ask about, ie; no bath flour mat - (straight out on vinyl), no toilet brush. No breakfast times listed (need to ask) Different prices on lounge menu in room to that in the lounge - picky? - Maybe, but when you have a tall thin man who presents himself in a smart outfit that would indicate that he was either waiter, barman or manager but reluctant to engage with guests, you are reminded of other points. If he had lessons from the breakfast lady on customer care and not appear to be too good for his job he would be fine. A inverted snob perhaps or in the wrong job at the wrong time? Along with him, other guests and ourselves in the lounge there appeared to be a problem over bar/lounge meals. He states that the lounge menu excludes you from dining room (as lounge menu) , guests state that this is ok for sandwiches or finger meals but not the likes of steak or fish and chips etc. Anything that requires a knife and fork is not wanted on your lap or requires you to lean forward over a coffee table - we four went to the dining room when food was ready. Needs sorting out ! Man looked well put out! Do not think such things are so different up the north of England. All only detail, detail and attitudes.

My brother had his wedding here, the staff where absolutely outstanding and went the extra mile to make things happen. The hotel was very good and didn't cost much more than a travel lodge. It's worth the extra few pounds! Breakfast was included in the price and was big enough for anyone! Good quality food to not the cheap rubbish that you usually find. Although the hotel is on a main route it is set back and well out the way you wouldn't know it was there. Very pleased with my stay. Thanks again to all the staff for the Gregory wedding 2/11/12. Best man.
