Egypt Mill HotelStroud Rd, Nailsworth, GL6 0AE Nailsworth (Show map) Very good, Score from 55 reviews“We found the staff most helpful and were able to provide a ground floor room in which small dogs were allowed. I were very impressed and indeed suprised at the quality of the accomodation. ”

The Egypt Mill Hotel is situated in the unspoiled Cotswold town of Nailsworth. The 16th century riverside hotel features a restaurant and bar. The Rosette Restaurant has a great local reputation with a wide choice of dishes to suit all tastes. Friendly service in relaxed surroundings makes for a memorable evening or lunchtime. In the summer, the patio and water gardens are open daily where you can enjoy a meal outside or a relaxing pre-dinner drink. Upstairs, a great function facility caters for larger groups, private dining, weddings or conferences. In the bar, the carefully renovated and working mill-wheel is housed behind glass to be visible to all who eat here. Hotel Rooms: 28

Reception staff were fabulous especially the manageress. The room above us (we stayed in room 2) were very noisy due to wooden flooring - not good and the cleaners started hoovering at 10.00 when we were not due out of the room until 11.00am (on New Year's Day) - sadly dissappointed.

The location was beautiful. Staff not very friendly. Breakfast not very good. If you're staying in the "Garden House" you will get wet going to/ from breakfast.

Room was wonderful, very comfortable. I loved the atmosphere at the Egypt mill. We attended a Xmas party and we both enjoyed ourselves. We have also booked our wedding there, which we are looking forward to with much excitement. The main course in the Xmas meal appeared to be bought in and was not of the same quality as the rest of the food I have eaten at the hotel.

The room was clean and bright if nothing special. Breakfast tasted good. Good car parking. Convenient. Room - machine noise outside although it did not run all night, if staying longer we might have asked to change room. Had to ask for more milk and tea and then receivied the minimum, small things like this make a big impression. Impatient service at breakfast as we were down towards the end of the session, shame as we were on a relaxed weekend break to visit friends, a break from the fast pace of London we thought! Muller light yoghurt! Poor choice, full of additives, plain natural yoghurt please!

A wonderful, romantic four nights. The staff, accommodation and breakfasts were excellent. The evening meals were superb surrounded by the old mill and its waterwheels, and after eating sitting by millpond surrounded by the ducks.....truely lovely

The hotel was in a good location for our visit to Westonbirt Arboretum and offered comfortable accommodation for an overnight stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were of a good size and had individual character. The restaurant menu was varied and the food was of a high standard. The breakfast was very good. The bathroom in our particular room was a little 'tired' in decor and facilities. an update would improve this.

Service from staff was excellent. All four of us agreed the food was excellent- several things sampled from the breakfast menu, all of which were lovely. Had lunch and evening dinner on one occasion both of which were lots of choice, tasty, great portion sizes and overall great value for money. Bedrooms were characterful and comfortable. Plenty of car parking space. Very short walk to town centre. Only slight downside was traffic noise as rooms were close to the road, but it wasn`t unbearable.

Nice clean room with comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast. Not enough information available re walks and other local interest. We would have liked to have had an evening meal but the restaurant was fully booked. Perhaps we could have been advised to book early.

Orthentic period room decor, big bed, unusual building, plenty of space, quiet location, big carpark, walks and shops right there. Food hot on hot plates. Food and wine reasonable prices and good quality. Good breakfast. Footpath from other rooms passed 3 windows of our room with full view of us showering and dressing unless blinds kept shut! Typical uk issues, poor toilet flush, poor shower pressure.

Layout of bedroom accommodation, we didn't feel cramped in. Staff were friendly and helpful - serving meals that were well cooked and presented. The Garden House where we were positioned offered a quiet and relaxing retreat. Overall the character of the hotel seemed both romantic and historical with beautiful gardens and the river with its lovely wildlife inhabitants. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to friends and relatives. Late night movements of upstairs quest which disturbed our sleep. Also very noisy delegates coming for a conference gathered in Reception. We could hardly hear the receptionist and I shouldn't wonder the person on the other end of the telehphone call. I think in future delegates should be moved further away from the Reception area for the convenience of guests and telephone callers making reservations. It was extremely noisy indeed!

The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the food was good, but the best thing about it was the Staff. Every member of staff we came into contact with was helpful, friendly and polite, we would recommend the hotel to others because of them. There is little soundproofing, so we were disturbed by other people moving along the corridor and sleep was interrupted as a result.

The location of the hotel for Highgrove House was ideal and overall the hotel was very good, apart from one aspect which I have mentioned below. Nice bar and restaurant facilities; spacious bedrooms and would recommend the hotel to family and friends, with the undernoted caveat - book rooms 1 - 10 only. Our room was very close to the main road which runs above the hotel level. From 6.00 a.m. onwards the traffic volume grew and so did the traffic noise - slightly disappointing.

The hotel is centred around an old mill where you can still see the water wheels in the bar area. We stayed on a DBB package - the food was superb and the staff were great. We also enjoyed watching the ducks from the outside patio area! It's near a reasonably busy road but we asked for a quiet room and were placed near the back where we couldn't hear the traffic at all.
