Great place to stay and eat. Staff were brilliant, so helpful and friendly - couldn't do enough for us. Perfect location in a perfect town. Will definitely be visiting again!
Beautiful village, quaint little pub with lots of history, lovely staff. Great pub. Good walks in area with pretty views
Our family room for 4 people was very small and out the back near rubbish bins
Everything, the staff are friendly and the beer is good.
charming, friendly, comfortable lodging with great atmosphere, food, and service
The Eight Bells is both an inn and a restaurant/bar. The building is beautiful. Our room was at the back and so was quiet, clean, and overlooked the lovely garden. Delicious food, excellent breakfast with a wide choice, not just the standard English breakfast fare. Wonderful place to stay.
Since we had three travelers, the sofa bed was extended. Made it a bit crowded, but the beds were comfortable, and we can't wait to stay again.
Very friendly welcome, and dinner table found for us even though the pub was very busy and we hadn't booked.
Nothing. It was a lovely stay in a beautiful Cotswold village.
the long wait to be served at breakfast.
A long, tiring day ended in a comfortable room with every possible facility. After an excellent meal in the bar, we were able to watch tv before a good night's sleep. An easily managed and powerful shower was followed by a splendid breakfast, with a wide selection of delicious food.
The location, the pub, the room
Head staff sometimes not very welcoming.
The location is very nice for an introduction to the Cotswolds. The tavern portion itself was fine and the food in the evening was very good. Morning breakfast was nice as well.
The room was adequate but nothing special. Our room had a tiny window that overlooked a courtyard where the bar served customers outside. No a/c but a fan was provided. Hallway into room was bisected by huge beam which we had to duck under to enter the room. There was no commons room for general relaxation.
Atmosphere Helpful staff
A little overpriced Parking not good
The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Nothing too much trouble and all with a smile. We will definitely return. Pub very well run, food excellent. Great at night too.
very friendly staff. well situated in a quintessential Cotswold village. very good selection of beers and ales in a quality pub and restaurant. food experience was quite good. they also have a great outdoor seating area for tea or drinks.
Very friendly and attentive staff, wonderful period charm throughout. Excellent food coupled with real ale is always a winner with me. Looking forward to a return visit 10/10
Nothing, everything was very good.
we arrived here a bit concerned after reading a few bad reviews, but found the place to be very nice with friendly staff in a very nice setting. Our room was very clean and tidy. We decided to eat here. Glad we did our food was very nice it came just the way we orderded it. If we had to fault anything it would be the time we waited for our breakfast but when it arrived it was nice this is just a minor thing,it would not put us off staying here if we were in the area again.
Rooms were very clean. Atmosphere in the pubwas nice. Food was okay. The best thing about this place is the bar staff and waitresses. There was one girl that is a waitress that lives there on the property. She was very sweet.
This property is not hospitable. The proprietors never introduced themselves. I think Niel might have been someone in the bar but he never introduced himself when I spoke to him. The rooms overlooked a courtyard where they were loud people talking and partying all night long. They were supposed to leave at dusk but they did not. The area outside the room was not clean. Especially the courtyard. This is for a type of person that doesn't mind staying in a place for a crash pad. I paid less for a beautiful lovely three star B&B in Stowe. I felt this was not a good price for what was offered.
Good food Young women behind the bar very helpful and apologetic
En suite smelt awful and toilet wasn't working. Had to use pub toilet.
The friendliness of all the staff including the owners Neil & Julie. Everyone was helpful in suggesting places to visit or to see.
Everything. The village is lovely and the Eight Bells is a gem. The staff are friendly and welcoming. My husband, Skip, and I were impressed at every turn. The old inn shrieks character. The room was bright, airy, and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. If you're visiting the Cotswolds, this is a mustn't miss. The room rate is very reasonable and excellent value for the money. You'll thank yourself for staying here.
Nothing to dislike.
Location Location Location The idea that you can truly feel as if you are stepping back in time, but still enjoy some modern day conveniences.
This was our second stay...we will always keep The Eights Bells in mind when traveling through the Cotswold's!!!
The quirky rooms, the comfortable beds, the cleanliness and generally most everything about the place.
It wasn't that we didn't like it, or even need it, but the facility of a telephone in the room to reach reception had we needed to would have been nice. We didn't really have much contact with the staff so we can't justify an excellent but the contact we had was good.
Great location, excellent staff, good food- splendid breakfast.
A bit noisy.
My mum's room was next door so any problems and she could knock on the wall next to us. Plenty of breakfast and plenty of choice. The priest's hole in the dining room.
Initially we were shown only one room and I had booked two rooms. We were then shown another room which was down a corridor and up another flight of steps. She is 93. Eventually the room next door was cleaned and she unpacked.Parking can be too far from entrance.
The room was gorgeous to stay in and very quirky. The staff were very friendly and the pub was busy and had a real buzz about it. I would definitely go back.
breakfast space to park outside friendly short walk into village centre bright bedroom
you have to book if you want to be sure of dinner, which is a good sign needs more veg options for dinner
