Definitely better than average for this location and price point.
Not setting tables for breakfast is not ideal if you are in a hurry and just want a cup of coffee.
Breakfast ,room, access to public transport
Noise from night clubs and late night drinkers

Heating on in rooms
The position was excellent and thought the hotel had a warm inviting atmosphere. Paul and his staff were lovely and made us feel at home. The breakfast was delicious and there was a good variety of choice. The bar was well stocked and the other guests were friendly.
My parents had a good sized room on the first floor however we had an extremely small room and had to climb 5 flights to get to it. The decor was nice in my parents room although ours was dated and had patches of damp. We didn't say anything because we were staying for only 4 nights and as my parents had paid for it we didn't like to highlight it as they didn't see the room because they couldn't climb up 5 flights of stairs. Paul also told us that they had only been in the property for 2 years and would be decorating every room. It would not stop me from re-booking at Ellan Vannin as the good points outweighed the bad.
Great value, small friendly hotel in a superb sea front location.
Room on the small side.
Excellent location. Very friendly and efficient staff Excellent breakfast and service Very relaxed atmosphere
A friendly homely place with excellent stsff and gteat choicr at breakfast
Nothing all was great
Friendly staff, good breakfast. Good basic accommodation.
Room had poor lighting, bathroom needed more thorough cleaning. I would prefer a more comfortable room.
We were in room 000 and the noise from what we think was an extractor fan sounded like a b s a motorbike starting up in our room! And the noise from wheelie bins very early in the morning. We would really love to come back so long as we didn't have that room because apart from that everything was really first class. We have been coming to the T.T. For nearly 30 years now and we all agreed that yours is the best one we have stayed in. We would like to say a big thank you and hope to get in next year.
the staff were really helpful and polite. the rooms were clean and well maintained. we liked the view and location.
the amount of noise till 2/3am in the morning.
Breakfast was spot on

Fantastic Hosts , super clean, quiet, great facilities .Will be back soon
Convenient location.Good Bar with fair prices.
Cycles stored in lounge in an evening. Breakfast room too small when Hotel was full.
The location! I was close to all I wanted - tourist sights, shops. There's a bus stop nearby. The hotel, or 4* guesthouse as I think it really is, was very nice. Room, ensuite, was lovely - high ceilings, clean, tea/coffee making facilities, tv. As I had a room at the front of the hotel, located on the prom, it was perhaps a little noisy with other customers outside on the steps having cigarettes, chatting, and with traffic going by but it didn't keep me awake. Breakfast, complimentary, was lovely and there was plenty of staff offering table service.
Reception didn't appear to be manned very much so I don't know how easy it would be to get help if you needed to book a taxi (I could see no taxi ranks nearby) etc. The staff that I met though were very friendly and helpful. The hotel doesn't have a lift and it could probably do with one. My room was on the first floor so it didn't bother me but for those in rooms on the 2nd floor and more not being able to take a lift could be awkward.
Very friendly staff, big selection for breakfast and was just round the corner to the shops :-) so glad I picked this hotel.
After a rather traumatic ferry crossing there was a friendly face to greet us at 00:30 and even ringing to see if we had actually made the ferry. Friendly staff
Not much really. Breakfast room was a little cramped.
