Nice staff very friendly, clean, good breakfast.
Our room (number 12 ) should be a single room as was very cramped and had no bath only a shower room, as it was on a gable end was not ideal for anyone tall.
The welcoming was perfect x
That the room was to small and the waitress on the morning was to over the top and loud, everyone who was having breakfast was looking at each other laughing as she was so loud
From the first time we stepped through the door we were made welcome check in was swift and we were shown the room all we needed for our stay was their Breakfast was plenty with polite and friendly staff I would recommend this place for all the above We would book again
The location to shops and restaurants is excellant and within easy walking distance. A warm welcome upon arrival and a nice cooked breakfast. Nice big bathroom with nice towels.
The bed was not comfortable and the room hot. Lots of condensation on windows in morning which resulted in lot of water running onto windowsill and very near wires of the TV. Decor in room a bit dated.
Great location lovely hotel very helpful staff was ll be staying again next year
Could not fault in any way
Nice an quite & peaceful
A lot of stairs
We found the hotel charming, spotlessly clean, spacious and central. The breakfast was just lovely and the fact that it was formerly an Edith Cavell rest home for nurses gave it a fab historical setting and vibe, the upstairs lounge with its stained glass windows was so pretty and relaxing. Alex pollitzi would be very proud. Staff very friendly and informative.
Nice friendly staff in a very good location.
up in the gods and both myself and my husband had bumps and bruises due to having to manoever round the bed to get into it. My husband also banged his head on the sloping ceiling.
Nice building and communal areas. Parking was very convenient, so close to Windermere town centre
Rooms was smallish but functional
Our host was very polite and efficient. The breakfast was very good too. Good places to eat within walking distance. Pleanty of off-street parking. A very pleasent stay.
Lovely welcome from staff on arrival, quick check in and out. Nice(but a bit tired)clean room. Great breakfast choice...overall a great place to stay a a reasonable price.
Central to all amenities. Very friendly and professional. Quiet area of Windermere. Very comfortable accommodation and rather quirky.
Noise from traffic
Location, top quality hotel.

Had a great stay at the Ellerthwaite Lodge. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely be back.
The room was well presented and the breakfast very good.Very clean throughtout. Relaxing lounge area.
The size of the room was a little on the small side maybe more suited to a single bed.
bedroom was very small even for a single and very dated.
A beautiful lodge in an excellent location within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. Very clean and nice friendly staff. Would happily book again !!!
Rooms on top floor would be quite a trek for older people.
Location was the best part and breakfast was fantastic.
Creeky stairs and creeky bed frame
We are from Australia (but originally come from NZ)and just travelling around England, seeing distant relatives and visiting interesting places. Unfortunately it rained most of the time but briefly we were able to go for a walk along a track up to a look-out and saw some of the picturesque Lake District. May come back in the future and will try and book into the Ellerthwaite Lodge again.
The location is excellent. Staff friendly and a very good cooked breakfast. Good parking facilities. Although room was small it was nicely furnished and shower was excellent.
Single room (3) was very small, less that six foot wide. Bed was right under the window, this would be OK if it wasn't for the draught coming in, had to tuck the curtains onto the window sill to stop it.
I liked the staff, who were very friendly, approachable and understanding. The breakfast was of a high quality. I stayed in the small single room. It was small but served its purpose in terms of containing what i needed. I spent time working in the lounge space on the first floor landing, which is a very comfortable and relaxing area with lovely furnishings and a TV.
This guest house is located on a busy road, on a busy corner therefore there was alot of traffic noise to be heard through the original single glazed windows. It is a very busy business with lots of people coming and going all the time. I found that the noise carried very loudly along the corridors of the ground floor where the single room is located. And unfortunately my stay coincided with a group of young tourists whose behaviour appeared that they had no consideration for other guests....doors banging, voices being heard through the night, disturbing my sleep, both from the corridors and from within their rooms surrounding mine. This is not the fault of this guest house per se, but i did raise this with a member of staff who told me that had those guests been staying longer, the staff would have spoken to them about their level of noise disturbance. If you are looking for a quieter location, this is not it, in my opinion. On the first morning the shower ran luke warm. And on the last evening there was no heating on, leaving the room quite chilly due to the draughty original single glazed window.
