Nice an quite & peaceful
A lot of stairs
We found the hotel charming, spotlessly clean, spacious and central. The breakfast was just lovely and the fact that it was formerly an Edith Cavell rest home for nurses gave it a fab historical setting and vibe, the upstairs lounge with its stained glass windows was so pretty and relaxing. Alex pollitzi would be very proud. Staff very friendly and informative.
Nice friendly staff in a very good location.
up in the gods and both myself and my husband had bumps and bruises due to having to manoever round the bed to get into it. My husband also banged his head on the sloping ceiling.
Nice building and communal areas. Parking was very convenient, so close to Windermere town centre
Rooms was smallish but functional
Our host was very polite and efficient. The breakfast was very good too. Good places to eat within walking distance. Pleanty of off-street parking. A very pleasent stay.
Lovely welcome from staff on arrival, quick check in and out. Nice(but a bit tired)clean room. Great breakfast choice...overall a great place to stay a a reasonable price.
Central to all amenities. Very friendly and professional. Quiet area of Windermere. Very comfortable accommodation and rather quirky.
Noise from traffic
Location, top quality hotel.
Not staying another night loved the accommodation.

Had a great stay at the Ellerthwaite Lodge. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely be back.
The room was well presented and the breakfast very good.Very clean throughtout. Relaxing lounge area.
The size of the room was a little on the small side maybe more suited to a single bed.
bedroom was very small even for a single and very dated.
A beautiful lodge in an excellent location within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. Very clean and nice friendly staff. Would happily book again !!!
Rooms on top floor would be quite a trek for older people.
Location was the best part and breakfast was fantastic.
Creeky stairs and creeky bed frame
We are from Australia (but originally come from NZ)and just travelling around England, seeing distant relatives and visiting interesting places. Unfortunately it rained most of the time but briefly we were able to go for a walk along a track up to a look-out and saw some of the picturesque Lake District. May come back in the future and will try and book into the Ellerthwaite Lodge again.
The location is excellent. Staff friendly and a very good cooked breakfast. Good parking facilities. Although room was small it was nicely furnished and shower was excellent.
Single room (3) was very small, less that six foot wide. Bed was right under the window, this would be OK if it wasn't for the draught coming in, had to tuck the curtains onto the window sill to stop it.
I liked the staff, who were very friendly, approachable and understanding. The breakfast was of a high quality. I stayed in the small single room. It was small but served its purpose in terms of containing what i needed. I spent time working in the lounge space on the first floor landing, which is a very comfortable and relaxing area with lovely furnishings and a TV.
This guest house is located on a busy road, on a busy corner therefore there was alot of traffic noise to be heard through the original single glazed windows. It is a very busy business with lots of people coming and going all the time. I found that the noise carried very loudly along the corridors of the ground floor where the single room is located. And unfortunately my stay coincided with a group of young tourists whose behaviour appeared that they had no consideration for other guests....doors banging, voices being heard through the night, disturbing my sleep, both from the corridors and from within their rooms surrounding mine. This is not the fault of this guest house per se, but i did raise this with a member of staff who told me that had those guests been staying longer, the staff would have spoken to them about their level of noise disturbance. If you are looking for a quieter location, this is not it, in my opinion. On the first morning the shower ran luke warm. And on the last evening there was no heating on, leaving the room quite chilly due to the draughty original single glazed window.
very friendly and helpful staff couldn't do enough for you. lovely breakfast plenty to choose from. very clean rooms
The polite and helpful staff nothing was too much trouble.Location was excellent.
Need a more powerful shower otherwise great place to stay
We felt that the staff were always in a rush, so this made this weekend not as relaxing. e.g took my cereal bowl when I had not finished with out asking.
The lodge is in an excellent location for both Windermere and Bowness. The staff are very helpful and polite, and the breakfast is lovely. Our room was nice and comfortable but could do with a lick of paint. Ensuite Bathroom was great. Would recommend this lodge to stay in.
Friendly, helpful staff. Building had lots of character and period features. Large tastefully decorated room, comfortable and clean. Excellent nights sleep on pocket sprung mattress. Wide choice on offer at breakfast, juices, fruit, cereals, yoghurts and delicious locally sourced cooked breakfast. Five minute walk to centre of Windermere where there are a wide variety of restaurants and pubs.
