The reception staff, especially the Scotch Lady were extremely helpful and pleasant. The reception area was warm and comfortable. My bedroom was clean and comfortable. Having to traverse between the lodge and the main building was not an ideal arrangement especially during inclement weather. |

Hotel was easy to find and the Scottish girl was excellent. Thought the bar was poor, fridges empty and lager wasnt cold when served. One key per room was a nightmare as there were two of us and got split up. Hotel looked much better in the picture, room was dated and needed a good clean. Headboards had holes in them and hair grease over time had stained them. |

Good food especiallly suitable for children Could have done with one more member of staff to either man the reception desk or serve on the bar. Did not quite live up to the description of city centre hotel. |

Lots of faded grandeur and the twin room was a good size . Good value for money. The single room was small ( but it least they offered one ). Not enough parking |

Not far from city centre. Not enough parking. Had to park a fair way from hotel concerned about vehicle being left in insecure area. There were not enough staff to deal with high volume if customers during breakfast. Many people including myself very unhappy. |

The Elmbank is a walkable distance from the city centre (about 1 mile). The service, room decor and overall atmosphere in this hotel are dated!!! |

We stayed in the lodge which was ok but there was no blankets on the bed just a sheet and bed cover and it was late October. We had to ask for blankets It looks shabby. The hotel bar lacks atmosphere and closed at 10pm |

nothing i was put in the lodge,i have learned it was the staff quaters, which has been made into rooms on a shoe string budget and charged at top rate prices to get the pittence that you spent back,i transfered rooms once because the radiator valve broke of in my hand, wall paper blue tacked down unsuitable bedding,i have photo's of the room and will be acting on them dont make me laugh "if applicable" it was an utter disgrace and spoiled my stay in york...and as i said you will be recieving a letter stating such and if necessary photo graphic evidence..i maybe wouldn't have used this to complain but suprise suprise the complaints link on this survey dosnt link! |

we spent little time in the hotel but the seating area by the fire was superb. thankfully we stayed on a special offer as theres no way id want to pay full price for the 4 poster room we had. also the bathroom was just not clean. muck of some sort on the tiles and toilet and hairs on the floor. |

The breakfast was very nice and always well presented. The hotel is pretty basic and the word Luxury is non exsistent!!The cleanliness of the rooms was very poor.I placed my suitcase on top of the warddrobe and the dust was really bad.It is ok for a budget city break but if you are looking for something special for an occasion then this is not the place to stay!! |

York is a beautiful city & hotel was within walking distance (10 mins) Disappointing. Tired & dingy decor. Room was tiny & musty. Ensuite was so small that I thought there was only a tiny toilet, until they pointed out the shower was behind the door. Bed springless & uncomfortable. Would not return. Surprised that they asked for payment on arrival, before seeing room, not very encouraging! |
