décor de l'hotel, entrée et salon trés agréables. trés bon petit déjeuner. draps troués, pas d'éclairage à la tête du lit par manque de lampe dans l'abat-jour. |

I liked the ambience of the building and the fact that it is steeped in history and has retained some of it's original features. Very interesting. |

The complete look of the hotel was stunning. I couldn't believe the beauty, Art Neveu features. Stunning. And so near to everything historical as well as the race course.I Would definately come again but only if the house-keeping staff learn how to clean properly and if the beds were renewed. The cleanliness in the bedroom,en-suite was awful. I would like to have brought in the hotel inspector for her to have a chat with the staff. There were HAIRS(not ours) in the rooms especially the en-suite. The bathroom was disgusting with dirty sink, bath, taps and fitments. The thought of other peoples hair and pubic hair made us feel very uneasy. The furniture and fitments were dirty as well as skirting boards and behind /beside the beds and bedside cupboard. The cups etc weren't cleaned properly and we had the same dirty teaspoon throughout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!regarding the question below about reviews on your website ,we haven't looked at it so we can't comment. Regarding the one about recommending the hotel well we would for the beauty of the place but not for the cleanliness. |

It was just a short walk from the city centre. I also happy with the parking facilities! |

The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is easy walking distance to the city centre. It is in a relatively quiet neighbourhood. There was no room safe. The place is getting a bit run down, carpets could be replaced and some redecoration wouldn't go amiss. |

I liked the beautiful art nouveau foyer and hall. The room was scruffy and dirty: little to recommend it. The staff seemed to be undergoing training. |

One of the worst hotels I have stayed. Definitely not recommend. The knob of the bath looked so old and dirty, and was even not working properly. Very uncomfortable duvet (actually just sheets)! |

I liked the reception area of the hotel and the buffet breakfast was lovely! There were a lot of very loud drunk young people coming in between 2 and 4 in the morning, there should be a time that the door is locked to avoid this. |

A very unique hotel. Much better than staying in a sterile chain place. About 15mins walks to the centre of York and free parking available in front of the hotel Could certainly do with some modernisation. But then it would be more expensive! |

location I stayed in the main hotel building, room 225. This was very shabby and in urgent need of a thorough refurbishment. Old anaglypta wallpaper, old carpet and very scuffed and dirty paintwork. The bathroom was similarly in poor order, dated and in need of replacement . The aged Myra shower only produced cold water. |

The hotel was within walking distance of the city centre and located in a quiet residential street. There was a 24 hour reception desk service and staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms were small and in need of upgrading but fine for a 1 night stay especially considering the price. I think we got what we paid for! |

Convenient location. Interesting hotel- decayed gentility. Friendly reception staff. Room smelt musty. No remote for the TV- apparantly stolen according to reception, and no alternative offered. |
