Score from 122 reviews Very good
It's a wonderful location beautiful scenery lots of things to do
We love Elmers but it seemed to be very understaffed and tired this time, all the staff you had were working very hard and were kind and polite but they needed more help and perhaps the facilities cleaned and modernised. But we do love our time at Elmers and visit regularly!
Staff friendly and obliging Location worked for us Rooms clean and comfortable
Rooms not soundproof. I really did not appreciate hearing every word from the adjoining room, including their choice of television. Vegetarian food options unimaginative. Pasta at every meal is not a good experience.
We loved the size of the room and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get out of The breakfast was good and also lots to choose from especially the Stornaway black pudding and tasty sausages The grounds were magnificent and made a lovely walk down to the waterside It was near the station so easy to get about plus right by the Wight link and on Boxing Day we travelled over to the Isle of Wight Some of the staff were excellent especially Linda the manager she was so welcoming and down to Earth she made our stay better.
There was no do not disturb sign for the door so staff could let themselves in and you were still in your room which happened one night to us. The xmas dinner was really bad I had the tiniest piece of salmon as a starter the turkey dinner was more like hospital food made for the masses and the pudding was sickly and really badly presented We ordered two glasses of Prosecco but they were warm so had to send them back and we still got charged for them on our final bill But the manager did give us two glasses free with our evening meal
Room was excellent. Breakfast was great Lounge with choice of newspapers; service was great. Indoor swimming pool
Outside walk from car park to room to other facilities (wet and windy and cold)
Great Site Great Staff Great Facility
Breakfast and service was very good
Bathroom was quite dirty
Had an enjoyable relaxing weekend stay here before picking up a cruise from Southampton. Accommodation was excellent and the room was a lot bigger than we expected. Bed was very comfortable. Good base to explore Lymington and the New Forest and very close to the Isle of Wight Ferries. breakfasts and Evening meals in the restaurant were excellent.
The only downside is that when it rains you will get wet walking over to the restaurant, leisure areas as there is no covered walkway to keep you dry. During our 3 night stay we got wet twice but only a minor point......and the wooden steps to our room became slippery which would be a problem for older people but It didn't really spoil our enjoyment .
Room was lovely apart from interconnecting door the grounds and hotel were beautiful..well located..
Not enough milk or coffee in room not enough toilet rolls no option to change towels daily...staff not friendly enough..£16.00 for 2 drinks outrageous
Spa is nice, although in a leisure center (which isn't what everyone is looking for in a spa). Grounds are attractive and main building is a picturesque old Tudor house
The location of the room is not clear during booking, and most rooms are actually outside of the main building, in one of a the more "modern" blocks (in quotation marks because they look pretty dated, the interiors look like they haven't been updated in a couple of decades, and it all has a college campus / retirement community kind of feel to it)... The breakfast is terrible considering the price. It's mass-produced and served in a grotesque "Scottish Steak House". Save your £15 and go to a local cafe! We sat at the bar on a Saturday evening and couldn't get service or even a "be right with you" for 20 minutes or so, so we just left. Friday night wasn't so bad but we were only one of two tables in the bar. My advice would be avoid this place as it is outdated, low quality, a bit classless and nowhere near worth the money. I've stayed at much nicer B&Bs in the area at half the price.
Facilities. Quality of room
Couldn't ever get through on the phone to reception. Three times we tried. Phone was never answered. Had to get dressed and physically walk over there
The lesuire facilities The hotel layout Breakfast was lovely
The fact that the room itself was not worth 140 a night! Bathroom needed some renewing completely, the bath panel was rotting and coming away from the bath
Our room backed onto another room with a connecting door. Which meant that we could hear every noise starting from them filling their kettle and making tea at 7.30 every morning! Until they went to bed. These people were not noisy just behaving as normal so I'm sure they could hear the same from us, except we were hoping to get up later!!
Initially we were a bit disappointed with the overall condition of our room and it looked a bit dates. The enamel in the bath had come off in various places, causing it to become rusty and look rather uninviting. The corners of the bathroom itself had some hair and dust in. Wallpaper in the room was peeling. Outside our room was a large checkerboard set which when played sounded like garden furniture being dragged around. It was not relaxing to be woken up to the sounds of other guests children playing it before 7 am. Staff were all a bit unfriendly. When we had a flood through our ceiling, maintenance men came to deal with the water but no assistance was offered to us as what to do about our flooded room. Eventually upgraded to a nice apartment when we went to reception, but after being informed the hotel was full and there was nothing that could be done. Overall extremely disappointing and not good value for money at all.
friendly staff very helpful, Nice rooms very spacious, Clean.
on arrival our booking was not as asked for, 3rooms together on ground floor, this was because booking . Com had not passed over the information on time. I pointed out this was not true ,as I had phoned 3 weeks earlier to confirm, and it was all correct, but on arrival confusion set in and we were not all together, wasn't happy with the blame being put on booking.com as was not their fault.
Friendly staff. Lovely location.
Price of breakfast. Our room was in need of redecoration starting to look a bit sad.
All very good,except wi fi
The nice bed we had a lovely sleep.
I had the smoked haddock as a nice treat for breakfast but I must say it was terriable the fish deffinatly was not smoked, this was sunday 21/9/2014
Facilities Grounds Restaurants Staff
Worn out carpet in room (15A) Room not vacuumed during stay Breakfast far to expensive Insufficient milk in room (had to use room service)
Pleasant grounds, comfortable bed
Accommodation was in wooden chalets not in Country House Hotel as advertised, these had obviously been used as self catering previously. Fresh milk requested for tea was delivered to room in a plastic cup, not McDonalds standard we are used to. Would not recommend or return.
Location Tennis courts Spa Grounds Room
Extortionate room service breakfast, with half missing. Very very snooty receptionist Ordered newspapers, didn't arrive No snack type restaurant
The room was well layed out Bed was comfitabale what staff we sore were perlite
Shower did not work properly Food was to pricy Swimming pool was cold Could do with some maintenens hear and there The room where joined to the next room by a door not very privert
Well furnished room and bathroom
Layout of hotel rooms several blocks of rooms faced each other. It was like sleeping ina goldfish bowl. Curtains (front & back) had tone kept closed at all times. Very noisy in morning. People walking & talking directly outside room. Wine very expensive at dinner and not particularly good quality. Breakfast options very limited.
Location is great and the original house is beautiful
Paid extra to have a room with a kitchenette, which was basically a room with a sink and small fridge. No cutlery, toaster or plates etc. So what is the point of a kitchen if its empty.... The mould on the bath / shower was unacceptable
Grounds were exceptonally pleasant.
State of room and bathroom. Rooms need refurbishment in particular, curtains and sofa in bedroom, and peeling paintwork in bathroom
After reading a few negative reviews online I was very apprehensive however I was very pleasantly surprised! The room was really big and clean with lovely comfortable furnishings throughout It was so quiet and relaxing and close enough to Lymington town to walk in and enjoy the village facilities If I ever go back to the New Forest I will most definately stay there again!
