Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel & ResortSouth Baddesley Road, SO41 5ZB Lymington (Show map) Very good, Score from 103 reviews“My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Golden Wedding celebration lunch. The food was delicious and we were able to have drinks and coffee on the sunny terrace: a wonderful treat in April! Breakfast next morning was superb and the head waitor was excellent.”

We required a Hotel in the Lymington area. We hadnt stayed at the Hotel before but due to the fact it was very reasonably priced we booked 'room only' for just the one night as we had to set off early the next day. The Hotel was situated in a superb spot, though close to Lymington; unfortunately we didnt have the opportunity on this visit to take advantage of the walks. Hotel staff were friendly on arrival and departure. We were delighted with the privacy of our room, as we were in one of the chalet sytle bedrooms located outside the main Hotel building. The room was spacious, very welcoming, very comfortably and very quiet. We didnt use the Leisure Facilities or either of the Restaurants as we'd pre booked somewhere in Lynmington but it was nice to have a choice of dining should we have wanted. We will definitely go back.

The full Downton Abbey experience. Outstanding were the polite staff who addressed us by name, excellent cuisine with fresh produce from Scotland, and the ambience of the old house, in particular the open fires, wall sconces and chandeliers using traditional candle bulbs. We were also moved by the effort made to lay on a fabulous breakfast spread at low season - the hotel would have been justified in cutting back on variety and helpings but they did neither. The variety of fresh fruit, cereals, juices, preserves, ham and cheeses was a joy to wake up to, not forgetting water, a simple and healthy addition that a lot of hotels seem to overlook at breakfast time. As for the room, plentful and fast flowing hot water for the bath, a superking bed and padded curtains ensured deep sleep. We also made use of the pool and spa, but did not make it to the gym. The grounds were wonderful, even in winter, with views to the Isle of Wight. Amazing specimen trees - one illuminated 85ft oak complete with hooting owl overlooked our dinner table by the high stone mullioned windows. It is not often when you hit your 50s that you regret returning home after a holiday, and we will be booking another break at Elmers soon!

Food was good; room was spacious, clean and comfortable; gym pool and steam room was good to use. Service in the main restaurant was poor (we had to ask the same waitor 3 times for water before asking a 2nd waitor for the fourth and final time). main restaurant serves good food but way too expensive on food and drink. They force you to pay for a 3 course meal and they trick you into double shot rounds. Go to the hotel during the week only and make sure you eat out at pubs.

Nice spacey room. Good pool, lovely old manor house. Great location near to Lymington, beautiful countryside location. As we traveled in November there were not many people at the hotel and the bar area was very quiet and didn't feel very welcoming. The lamp didn't work in the bedroom, the lighting was not great. The pillows were too firm with no others to choose from.

The facilities were excellent and our room was comfortable clean and fitted out to a high standard. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpfull. We ate in the sails restaurant and found the menu to be varied and a high standard. It was a fantastic weekend which we hope to repeat in the near future.

The Manor House, and the restaurant, superb...........staff attendance and attitude superb It isn't made clear online that all Manor House rooms are time share, and hotel rooms are in a chalet type square (like Centre Parcs) near Manor House........ruined it for us, plus carpet in room getting threadbare, room starting to look run down. I asked for a light bulb to be changed, it took 2 requests, and took 4 hours, annoying, as my wife couldn't read her book when she wanted too...........I Know it's a small thing, but small things count!!!!!!!!

We found the staff very helpful and friendly. The leisure facilities were excellent and location lovely. What let it down was the evening meal which out of season seemed aimed at a business male traveller with the emphasis on quantity rather than quality. This was a shame as the breakfast was superb.

Just about everything, comfort, location, service. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the facilities were excellent, the location was perfect. Everything was just great Not very much. However, we paid a budget for our stay, which made it excellent value for money, but I think that the full price of £112 plus is probably too much. The breakfast menu was excellent and very comprehensive, but the cooked breakfast it seemed to be cooked in butter which won't be to everyone's taste - I enjoyed the full cooked breakfast. Also at £17.50 per person it is far too expensive - it is no better than a Premier Inn breakfast which is just £7.50

Reception staff were very helpful throughout our two night stay. On the first night at dinner the staff serving food and drink seemed a little disorganised and the place wasn't busy, the second night was one man on his own and he was fantastic very attentive from the moment we entered the bar. Spa treatments were also very good and reasonably priced. Excellent breakfast selection in the morning. The pool area was nice although it would have been nice to have it open at certain times of the day to hotel guests only instead of the general public which were members at the gym. Very good value for money and good location for sightseeing. Some of the communal areas lacked the attention to detail for cleaning Sails bar had cobwebs in the blinds and it was quite cold in there. Our room was sufficient although it would have been nice to have fresh milk on arrival or offered at reception rather than having to bother room service. Too many unsupervised children in the swimming pool area.

We thought it was a very comfortable hotel with very good services. The food was very good and the staff extremely polite and attentive. The hotel was situated very well for us to play golf at Walhampton, also close enough to walk into Lymington and also to catch the train and ferry.

The staff were freindly and the breakfast was nice The room service was poor, we used a glass for wine on the first night and the glass wasn't washed when the room was serviced on our 2nd day, we only had 1 bottle of water (sparkling) so not even a choice and this was not replenished on the second day. We also had to go to reception for more shower wash.

Large airy rooms, Lovely food, nice spa treatments. On our first night after a long journey, we were woken up at 6:00am by the fire alarm, we was kept in the breakfast room for an hour. When we eventually got back to our rooms the fire alarm continued to go off every hour or so for the next few hours.

Staff were excellent; went the extra mile on several occasions. Facilities good but was a shame to have to share the pool with childrens swimming lessons. Two star performers from staff were Daren Speakman and Steve Meakin both were outstanding and defined our stay. Room was too warm (October) other hotels offer the option of sheet rather than full quilt. The other option would be Air Con. We would not consider, or recommend, hotel in summer months. Not a complaint but we would have liked to know brekfast etc required a short walk wih no cover in inclement weather.

The 1st room we were shown into, the bathroom had a leak. We were then moved to the adjoining room and in the morning we woke upto another leak outside the bathroom. We were then moved into an upgraded room. The reception staff were patronising and told us that we were now in an Executive room..as if they had a choice!! Definitely won't be using this hotel again!

We stayed at the hotel to attend a wedding. The location was superb and the wedding was what we liked best. There was nothing to dislike about the hotel or facilities itself but if there was on thing not to like it would have to be the pricing/booking structure.
