The location are exceptional - right on the straits between the mainland and the Isle of Wight. Most rooms are not actually in the charming hotel main building, but are modern and rather shabby chalets which seem to be mainly used as Time Shares. There is an unclear and illogical policy for breakfast pricing in the Sail Cafeteria, which was then handled poorly by the cafeteria manager. Later at reception there were no management personnel available to handle the complaint, only a lone one-week trainee at the desk. Staffing and training are not adequate for a hotel of this level. |

The location, character and facilities of this hotel were excellent. The staff and the dining room experience were first class. The room provided was up to the higherstandard expected and paid for. This hotel should be rated 4 star and have 1 or 2 rosettes for its dining room....the price/room/night reflected these standards. At check-in we were surprised not to be shown to our room , but were given a map--which was definitely needed, because the rooms were outside the main building in different 2 storey blocks. We were not offered a porter to help with moving our luggage from our car park to our room. This was quite some distance and if it had been raining, we and our luggage, clothes would have been soaked. In most hotels you can unload into reception and get to your room all inside the hotel. The total price charged was also higher than another Macdonalds Hotel nearby, that was 4 star with a rosette restaurant |

Layout of grounds was intriguing but very pleasant for strolling. Waterford Restaurant produced excellent food very well served. General ambience of friendly, quiet efficiency. Extortionate room telephone rates (£7 to call a uk mobile!). No wi-fi hub. |

Good food on site, rooms nice and quirky. Some noise from other guests, wall/connecting door to next room a bit thin. |

Its quiet environment - pleasant staff - non intrusion by protocol - and general appearance and ease. Being away from the main house I found an advantage. I feel the room service charge was slightly over the top and the price for example of a sandwich or glass of wine. |

The hotel room was comfortable, the facilities, including the swimming pool, were excellent. Very attractive grounds leading down to the Solent. Very good breakfasts - other food in the Sails restaurant was adequate but plenty of good restaurants/pubs in and around Lymington Staff on reception could have been more helpful when it came to giving directions and recommendations about eating out. |

The swimming facilities were excellent, the room was comfortable and the brasserie was very nice. The rooms could do with a bit of updating and modernising, but they were very comfortable none the less. |

The grounds of the hotel and the views from the room were lovely! The leisure centre was an added bonus. We were in a double room but the bed was two singles pushed together, which made for an uncomfortable dip in the middle! |

It was out of the way but near to public transport (train/ferry) The bar/cafe was not open after arrival on Monday evening but that was not really a problem as there were plenty of places to eat in Lymington. |
