Elmwood Hotel19 & 20 Argyle square, Bloomsbury, WC1 H8AS London (Show map) Review score 6.4 Score from 597 reviews“The hotel is in an excellent location for visiting the city. On arrival the staff were very courtious & helpful. The room was a little small but clean & comfy. I thought being near the front reception it would a bit noisey, but it couldn't have been quieter!! Would use the Hotel again for a visit.”

Perfect location for overnight stay before travelling on Eurostar. Rooms very small but given the location good value for money

I booked a single room which was adequate for my needs for an overnight stay. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water from the shower. Nice breakfast. The location is ideal for access to St Pancras station. Located close to British Library, British Museum and plenty of buses to take me into Oxford Street/Trafalgar Square. The hotel is located in a quiet square which has a pleasant garden. I would be happy to stay there again

The location is great just a 2 mintues walk from Kingscross station so easy access for the tube.Breakfast is limted but for the price quiet good for London hotels. Well it is a basic hotel, there is no lift so it's a steep stair's to climb to my room on the top floor .My T.V. was not working at first till I told the front of house ,which they sorted out.

It was fine, and it was what we expected for the cost. It would be nice to know that there was no lift when we had a room on the third floor. So we would recommend the hotel if there were a way to let people know there is no lift.

It's vicinity to St Pancras (Eurostar). The size of the rooms - they are very small and cramped. No lifts available and staircases are very narrow and twisty and not easy to negotiate with a heavy suitcase. We had to pay for bed and breakfast but left the hotel before 6.30am so were not able to have breakfast. We mentioned this to the receptionist and were not offered a continental breakfast to take with us or a discount on the room price. This is standard practice so I am not complaining but hotels likely to be used by travellers should offer a room only price.

good location - 2 minutes from Kings Cross station worst hotel I have ever stayed in - minute single room, small musty hotel - they supply a hotel safe and recommend that you use it , and then charge on top when you do. I didn´t risk breakfast.

Very close to King's cross station. And it is in Argyle Square, an area full of hotels. We found it pretty safe. But obviously don't go round in the streets alone late.. Too many stairs!!! No elevator and no telephone in the room. But if you are going there for sight seeing and shopping it's not that bad!

Very convenient to King's Cross and St. Pancras stations. Hotel located off Huston Street on pretty Argyle Square. Tiny rooms. Barely adequate breakfast. Room rates not in keeping with facilities and services.

The only thing in Elmwood's favour was it's proximity to St Pancras and Kings Cross Station. That is all. What we did not like about Elmwood was the fact that the bathroom was foul smelling. It was so dirty that my husband and I refused to shower in the bathroom. The smell of sewerage was overpowering. The door to the ensuite (which was incredibly tiny) did not shut properly. The window to the street had no lock on it but had been nailed closed. Very very dangerous if there was a fire. The window was also dirty.

As I was shown to my claustrophobic room, I could immediately spot signs of neglect. The edges of the tiles in the bathroom were black, and bang in the middle of the shower floor, a large gaping hole instead of a drain was in place. The bathroom door had a dent in it, evidently the recipent of someone's fist - perhaps due to the realisation that a lot of money was spent to stay in such a place as this. The breakfast was horrific. A cramped room with people queuing on the stairs to get one of the few tables, that were shared between other guests. A pile of cheap, wet processed flesh that they dared to call "ham", flanked by a bowl of cold boiled eggs that didn't really taste fresh and a plate of processed cheese slices were what consisted the "buffet breakfast". Toast is literally thrown to you as you sit down on the table, by the servers who looked as if they would rather be elsewhere. Something I could fully empathise with.

The hotel was very close to the train station so getting around was easy. There were also a few fast food places nearby which was handy. The room was a lot smaller than expected, the hot water in the shower didn't work all of the time, breakfast was too early. The room was expensive for what you got, not amazing value for money.

“The staff at Crestfield were absolutely friendly and helpful. The room was small as are all London hotels that are affordable, but I didn't mind it at all. The best part of staying at the Crestfield Hotel is the location. It is a block away from the King's Cross tube stop, which is in the heart of the city. Also, the Pancras International train station is there as well, making easy to grab a train to France/Belgium and the rest of Europe. Can't beat it!” Tony, Studio City |
