To be very honest - the Elsinore hotel itself it was bit dated but the people who owned and ran the place were very pleasant --and provided a very good service- My single room was a basic but was livable , just needed some basic decoration and a carpet change-- plus an ensuite update as well --the freeview televison was pretty basic-- and -only got a few channels that was,nt plagued with interference which tried ones patience- to the limit -thats if your like me into your television of an evening -the best experience for me was the Elsinore breakfast and waiter service was second to none -as one sat down at ones table they speedily provided a glass of pure orange juice -then a good choice of basic cereals -and very big english breakfast- with a choice of white or brown toast on offer- plus a pot of fine tea- Now as I really enjoy a good english breakfast you will gather it compensated me personally for the need of an overall update - but if you were a very fussy person especially a fussy lady- and trust me I know most women to be very fussy about their hotel accommodation then it may not be for you - I would say the Elsinore would suit mainly real down to earth tourists-/ holiday makers--- of course I can only speak for a basic single room experience--G lennon manchester

Very cheap and a great location. Generous breakfast. Comfy bed. It cost me £22 instead of the advertised £20. There was a doodgy brown patch on the ceiling in my room.

We liked the hotel as it was within easy access of the seaside and was extremely clean. The booking in was easy and the staff were very friendly and welcomed me and my daughter with a happy face. The staff ma The breakfast was fabulous and it was nice to see the staff took time to speak to my daughter and that was nie to see. The room was excellent although the tv was still a little fuzzy put I put that down to the signal around the area,.The breakfast was lovely and it was the first time me and my daughter had eaten so it was nice to see her eat lots and enjoy it. As great stay and we promise that we will be booking another stay very soon.

The door on the way out, other than that absolutely nothing it was disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel was disgusting, there was human hair (or maybe animal) in clumps on the stairs leading to the rooms, the carpet was also frayed. They were actually in the motion of painting the walls directly outside the room we where suppose to be staying in....... When we asked to be moved they took us to the attic room which was no bigger than a prison cell with a window that was blowing a gale through.... We didnt want to stay in the second room and asked for our money back, to be told they DO NOT REFUND. This is the worse hotel I have ever been to. We would not let our dog stay here it was unclean, scruffy and staff could not really give two hoots if you were satisfied or not just as long as you paid up front. If you ever go do not pay until you have seen your room!

Very affordable and a good English breakfast which was well cooked and tasty. It's undergoing a bit of a face lift (April 2012) so you might have to dodge decoraters in the morning!

The position was good for the Town shopping and the conference The Hotel was very run down, the television didn't work in any of the 3 rooms that we booked and even though they attempted to repair them they still didn't work. When we booked for an evening meal we had to go to another hotel 5 minutes walk away. We asked for early breakfast and didn't get the english breakfast on the last day as they didn't have a chef.

The breakfast is good. The price is excellent. The location very close to the town and opposite the sea is faultless. Very run down with paint peeling away from walls, bathrooms with faulty taps and showers. Overall needs a make over but very reasonable at £39 for a double with breakfast.

It was cheap, very cheap. Good place to stay if money is tight. Staff were friendly and the bed sheets were clean. In retrospect, it was just a bit too cheap. Everything is done with the cheapest in mind. However, for the price I got the room they could it no other way.

Good value for money. Breakfast was good and the staff nice. The bedroom was very small and seemed more for a single person. Also the matress was very uncomfortable. Being an older couple being in the attic was hard work. The bar was out of action for the first night as it was being refurbished. The hotel did not let us in our room until after 3.00pm. I think with it being under new management there were one or two hitches but I'm sure they will be ironed out in time.

Elsinore was a stunning hotel. The staff were efficient, helpful and they went out of their way to make my stay very enjoyable. The food was a credit to the hotel. The decor was modern and clean. My room was absolutely fabulous. It had everything I needed. I would certainly recommend the hotel to my family and friends. Nothing. The hotel was absolutely lovely. I would go again.

Location was only good thing about it! Arrived at 4pm, no one on reception, eventually after 10 mins receptionist appeared. I wasn't expecting much as only paid £45. Television did not work, went down and complained, receptionist promised to send someone up, 2 hours later still waiting. Went to complain again and then a nice young man tried his best to sort it out. Tried several tv's then freeview boxes from other empty rooms then eventually moved us to another room on a different floor. This room was freezing cold due to the windows being left open as the lower floor was currently being decorated and there was a very strong smell of paint. No extra blankets in room so cold all night in spite of heating on. No kettle so had to go yet again to reception to complain. Cooked breakfast took full 30 minutes to arrive, everyone in dining room sat waiting which was strange as breakfast slot only on for 1 hour according to reception. Would have thought things would be ready before 9.00am. Have to say that staff were very pleasant, just felt incredibly sorry for all the 'stick' they were getting. Chuckled on way out as there was a sign saying that prices had increased due to the new refurbishment. In actual fact they should have been decreased due to the lack of facilities whilst the decorating was going on. Checked out and moved onto travel lodge in Chester city centre- £17.00. Far superior!

Nothing at all - most disgusting hotel I've ever been in. Filthy room, curtains didn't close together, mirror on inside of bathroom door so you could watch yourself sat on the toilet, got bitten so badly by bed bugs or fleas thst checked out of hotel at 12.15am in the morning instead of staying the night. Would never recommend hotel to anyone to stay. Have complained to hotel and waiting for refund. Also have reported hotel to environmental health as they obviously have a bad infestation of something. Do not book to stay at this hotel - it will ruin your holiday. You'd be better off sleeping on a bench on the promenade than at the Elsinore.
