Friendly and helpful staff - gave us advise on walking and eating - even lent a map and map case! Really appreciated.
Lack of evening meal - hostel on the 'wind down' but due to it being half term everywhere was fully booked and finding a place to eat out proved to be very difficult. It would have been ideal if the hostel has offered an evening meal...
Thank you to Pete and Anthony for making our stay so wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble and the help they gave us with maps and routes to suit the conditions was outstanding.
Enthusiasm of staff to help & make you feel at home. Warm Clean & homely
Nothing. All good
Staff exceptional - very comfortable and very good value for money
Having to leave early before breakfast
Facilities and location outstanding. Especially if you plan to self cater food wise. Did not have breakfast but looked very good value and quality. Lovely relaxing atmosphere and very attentive staff.
Shared a 6 room dorm with 5 strangers. Obvious risk here is that you are at the mercy of the consideration of the others. Unfortunately some were not very. National Trust car park in the village £6.50 per day.
friendly and helpful staff amazing location
Friendly staff Food available Drying room
Friendly helpful staff. We were lent a bat sensor to take on our evening walk and this meant we got to listen and see several bats which was great. Comfortable beds, lovely new shower cubicles. Breakfast was good . Plenty of stuff in the kitchen to self cater and complimentary tea and coffee. Good value, thank you.
Myself and two friends have just returned from an overnight stay at Elterwater Hostel. The purpose of our stay was to do a great walk, get showered and changed, eat something big with chips and have a few ales with the mates. All boxes were ticked! Staff at the hostel were very welcoming, informative and couldn't do enough for you. The place was clean, had great facilities and was in a brilliant location. The Brittannia Inn is 2 mins walk away, which is where we ate that evening, however we said that next time we go we will eat at the hostel. We will definitely be going back in hopefully the not too distant future. Overall great value for money.
Staff were excellent and everything was spotless. Bunk beds are narrow but mattresses were very comfortable. Shared washrooms and showers were spotless.
Super helpful staff, giving great advice on where to go, lending a map, etc. Really nice building and common living room area. Great and v cheap breakfast. Overall very pleased, great value for money.
Room is quite basic, so if you are planning on staying in the room for long time may not be your best option. For a decent place to sleep and to relax on the living room is great though.
The staff were great! Very helpful and accommodating all round.
The hostel has comfort and character. We had a simple double room (£45), self catered for breakfast but had the evening meal - excellent local Cumberland sausage + mash and a pud for less than £10. The Britannia Inn is only 200 yards down the road and all the Langdale walks nearby.
There is little not to like. Although the rooms are not en suite, the bathrooms & toilets are close by.
Helpful and welcoming staff, good share kitchen and common room. Beautiful location with many walks.
We had stayed at Elterwater Hostel a couple of years ago, and in our view it has improved under the recent management. We felt that the staff were very helpful and co-operative.
Excellent hostel - friendly staff, very knowledgeable about area. Great pubs nearby but also good self catering kitchen.
Staff, location, beautiful old building, other visitors
noisy fans in our dormitory
* We (5 guys) by mistake booked female dormitories which we realized after reaching Elterwater hostel, but staff was very helpful and accommodated us in some other room by talking with other people already staying. * nice kitchen you can what ever you want and enjoy your food, without paying much
its all perfect for the amount of money charged.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, who spent a lot of time giving us detailed walking instructions as well as loaning maps and compasses. The hostel itself is situated in a very peaceful and beautiful area within the lake district very close to two lovely local pubs (delicious food) & there is a convenience store about a 5 minute walk away. The views are outstanding too. We very much enjoyed our stay.
It was all really great; the kitchen and dining areas were great; spacious and clean but the bedrooms could do with a little refurbishment
Everything ! Washroom /shower immaculate sad to leave
The staff were brilliant, very helpful.

Our family loved our stay at this hostel. Bring food and cook in their amazing kitchen or eat what they prepare. Kids loved the selection of books and games. Excellent find. They even sell wine.
Loved it all.
Staff friendly and good at what they did. Great breakfast cooked to individual request by the chef.
