The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and included in the price. It was a proper single room so I didn't feel that I was paying for facilities I didn't use. Room was a bit on the small size. Very good value and ok for a few nights, but could be a bit too small for longer periods.

Pleasant reception no hassle allowed to book in early. The room though not big was comfortable, adequate and clean. The decor was pleasant and easy.Plenty of hot water and towels however there weren't many rooms occupied so that could make difference on the water. The town is only 10 minutes walk away and there are other pub/restraunt nearby and the rail station is two minutes drive. We slept well no noise and the bed was fine. The breakfast was filling and good, nice bacon, sausage and a freshly cooked egg was given on request and more tea/coffee and toast.Must add the young lady assisting us at breakfast was a gem. Guess what her nationality is, be surprised! Overall a good hotel at reasonable prices.

I must say the write ups from previous staying guest , well most, are spot on. I have to add the owners are superb and very helpful. The bedroom was very comfortable and the hosts most obliging for a continemntal breakfast for my early 7.30 start. The bar surroundings and history is so interesting. I like the fact of 24hr reception and the location a 5 min walk from town. All in all I am, impressed and would definatly stay again if in area. Thank you hosts.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. A bit of a nostalgic trip back to a 1980s country hotel. Bar was fine and seemed to offer good value sandwiches; restaurant menu was also out of the 80s (prawn cocktail, Barnsley chop, etc) but the food was surpisingly good and definitely good value. Very convenient for the station in the morning - 8 minutes walk downhill. The room was pretty small but ok. No table or desk but there was a chair so I used the bed as a desk. The en suite was actually partly in suite with the shower at the end of the bed. I had a room at the back but suspect the ones at the front could be quite loud located directly on the a4. The biggest 'complaint' was the plumbing - obviously retrofitted and very loud! I was woken by the guy upstairs having a shower at 6h15, then the man in the next room 30 mins. Later. The walls are very thin so generally not much chance of oversleeping. There is no lift but the receptionist did volunteer to carry up the case. Won't go again but there didn't seem much else locally.

The welcome was pleasant. I arrived around 7pm tired so the bedroom was small but adequate and just wanted to sleep as I had an early start the next day. I appreciated that the room was quiet and no noise from the party being held that evening. The staff were pleasant and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere while having breakfast the next morning. Also good to have some tea/coffee making facilities. As I was trying to open the window to get some air in I noticed that the net curtains were not very clean and the window frame dirty. I do like having the window opened but had to close it as I was a bit worried about being on the ground floor and by the car park.

The flexibility to come and go at all times with or without my room key. The wide variety of breakfast foods. The quiet and respect of other guests when requested by door hanger. The availability of a trouser press in the room if required. The availability of tv and wifi if required. The offer of a morning call and paper if desired. The free map and helpfulness of staff. The size of the inclusive breakfast. The size of the meals in the evening and flexibilty with abilty to buy restaurant snacks to take to my room. The promptness of the room service beds being remade and bathroom cleaned. Was probably a bit pricy for my purposes as I didn't use the trouser press, wifi or tv. Stayed for quiet time and meeting new friends.

This was my first time at this 2 star hotel. It was perfect for the location from the train station (10 minute walk) . Perfect from the town location also a 10 miunute walk. The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. The room was spacious with all the mod cons as well as a piping hot shower in the morning. Comfy bed and loads of space downstairs if you want to socialize with other guests. The only negative thing that I could possibly say as a fair comment is that at about 330am the heating came on to heat up the radiators and the towel rack which gave off a high pitch squeal until I got up. All in all its a good bet to come here rather than some competitors near the station or even further in Maidenhead for the price I paid as a single traveller working on a budget. The only negative thing that I could possibly say as a fair comment is that at about 330am the heating came on to heat up the radiators and the towel rack which gave off a high pitch squeal until I got up.

The room was at the top of the building so comfortable and quiet. Although service was slow when serving food, the food was excellent. The atmosphere amongst the staff was like a huge family, very friendly. Plenty of parking on site. The decor was a bit dated and the tv only had 5 channels. The wifi was not very good.

Very convenient for us visiting our new grandchild. Friendly & helpful receptionist. As it was originally a private house it is a bit of a "warren" with some passages a little narrow. We booked the executive double as some reviews suggest the standard doubles may be a little small.

Hotel is nicely placed and has a park less than 10 minutes walk away, so very dog friendly. I'd only just booked a double and single room for this stay and got a phonecall to confirm if my 85 yr old mum could use steps. Very nice and helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and plenty of room. The bar area was very comfortable and a very ample breakfast supplied. Will definitely use Elva Lodge again. Evening meals not served at weekend, but plenty of places to eat only 5 minutes drive away and map/directions printed off by receiptionist, so a minor issue.

Friendliness of the staff. Cleanliness. Unable to sleep due to the noise of the traffic at night. Saturday was terribly noisy that we gave up a trip on the Sunday to go to bed as we were so tired. Would have liked a restaurant at the weekend instead of bar meals. It is the first hotel that I had been too with no information on places to visit.(Usually leaflets in the foyer).

We chose the Elva as it was located reasonably close to the venue where I was taking part in a running event. The price was cheaper than staying at a Travelodge / Premier Inn when you take into account additional costs such as parking and breakfast. Everything was very smooth; it was easy to find and the room was spacious, comfortable and clean with a good sized en-suite. As we needed to leave early, we were offered an early continental breakfast which was basic but all we needed. The hotel does not serve food on Friday evenings, but we were recommended the nearby Windsor castle pub where we had a great meal.

I found the only member of staff present most pleasant and helpful. I do wonder if having only one member of staff on duty does not create a risk to guests in an emergency. No meal was available and the bed was too small but overall I was quite satisfied and would certainly use the hotel again in the future.
