I don't normally bother to respond to questionaires but am making an exception here. The hotel is situated in a lovely countryside position with immaculately tended formal gardens.Inside it is in excellent decorative order suitably reflecting the period, comfortably furnished with superb oil paintings. The staff were faultless. The only complaint, the fan in my bathroom made the noise of an idleing locomotive!

The building and grounds made my overnight stay excellent, I was able to walk in the gardens and un wind after a very long day. Have already recomended to a colleague who is now staying there for the rest of the week as opposed to the premier inn - which incidently is more expensive.

The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. It is a beautiful building in relaxing and natural surroundings that are very well maintained. You feel like you are completely away from it all yet it has the advantage of being very close to towns and motorway access. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been if it had a swimming pool.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It's history alone make it a wonderful place to stay. Grounds are unbelievably beautiful and lovely to just stroll in. A very romantic experience. I really can't fault anything with the Elvetham.

The location, buildings and the gardens. Beautiful. On this particular visit the room was fairly confined for a double size room. Prefer the Courtyard rooms.

I liked everything. The hotel is spacious and the hotelier hasn't taken away the character of the place. Too many stately home hotels are over modernised; Elvetham is just a lovely hotel to be in.

The building, inside and out, and location were stunning, and we enjoyed the visible standards of care taken of the hotel and the grounds. Our experience at the Elvetham got off to a poor start, as the receptionist who checked us in was unwelcoming and indifferent, and allocated a housemaid's room amongst the chimney pots... which is why I haven't filled in the survey for staff above - which was a shame, as everyone else was delightful. However when I phoned down regarding a room change I happily got someone else, who gave us a lovely room in the courtyard annexe, and everything else made for a very happy stay; however if that hadn't happened we would have been looking elsewhere for accommodation, and I would not have returned or recommended same.
