Wilmslow
The Embankment Hotel is in a beautiful location beside the Ouse River. Only a short walk from the center of town, this riverside setting overlooks quiet gardens and a Victorian bridge. The Embankment has a friendly pub and a dining area with a view of the Ouse. Food is served all day and drinks include real ales, wines and specialty coffees. On sunnier days you can sit outside with an afternoon cream tea. A short walk from the Embankment Hotel is the Bedford Museum, and the award-winning Cecil Higgins Art Gallery. All bedrooms have private bathrooms and a telephone and TV. The Embankment Hotel was founded in 1891 by the Castle Brewery. Hotel Rooms: 20

The food at the hotel for dinner and breakfast was very good There was two very large dogs in the bar area brought in by customers eating in that area not very pleasant to have a dog keep licking your ankle no were else to sit as they had taken up a large sofa . our room was not very clean hairs in the bathroom sink and the large mirror in the bedroom had a large smear on top end also the kettle needs descaling ,room noisy from extractor fans, all in all not a room you want to stay in for any lengh of time

I liked its position on the Embankment and close to the town. The service and the food was good. The faulty loo door handle and the bedside lamp were quickly repaired although they should not have been faulty in the first place. On the whole an excellent weekend break venue. The two window armchairs were not as comfortable as they could be. Restricted car parking.

The bed was comfortable The room was very very small. Our room was close to the extraction fans of the hotel's restaurant and it was very noisy, we couldn't sleep until very late when they switched it off. The bathroom was very small and old and cold, the air was entering from the windows and as it was -7 deg, it was really not comfortable at all.

River view room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Lovely location. Friendly staff and good (I.E. busy) atmosphere in the pub - well frequented! Very hearty full English breakfast to set you up for the day. No complaints. Lighting in the bathroom was a little too subdued. Hotel car park was limited in capacity but plenty of overnight parking on the main road

It was more than expected in respect to the rooms. Staff were very busy and split between bar and hotel. It was value for money, Room Carpets.

Loved the atmosphere, really buzzing with a great mixture of young and old. Nice far comfy sofas and a relaxing feel. Very helpful staff, nice breakfast and good location. We had a room over the bar, as most first floor rooms appear to be. After the bar shut around midnight, the staff continued to play music for another hour as the cleaned up. It wasn't until I asked them to turn it down did they turn it off. I genuinely think they didn't realise but 1am is a bit much. Also parking can be an issue

Greeted at front desk by receptionist, recieved key and free-wifi without problem. Stayed in River-view room, room was very spacious with a large double bed which was fairly comfortable. Free view on flat screen and a selection of complimentary hot drink sachets. Bathroom great size and complimentary soaps. Room was very hot altough nice to escape the winter cold we had to put the fan on as it was that hot and kept us up. Very limited car parking space and room was to hot.

Friendly, helpful staff - even let the child in our party have a slice of bread to feed the ducks in the river opposite the hotel Prompt service in restaurant and at reception Flexible - we arrived early and without prior notice and were able to check in without any fuss Location - we were there in the week between Christmas and New Year and it looked really festive

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Breakfast area was lovely. Hotel was warm and comfortable. Great location. Pathetic shower. Insufficient parking. Reception area was an economical use of space. When we signed out a bottle or Merlot we hadn't ordered mysteriously appeared on our bill, but staff took it off without any argument or awkward discussion, which was a great relief as it could have soured our stay.

Warm & friendly with good food and ale. Room 207 was a bit on the small side (bathroom was huge!) so felt a little cramped. Web site gave a different impression. Only a net curtain on bathroom window. Had to put a towel over net to provide privacy.

I liked the location and the decor of the hotel. The price of the room was reasonable and the staff were very helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Bedford. The wrought iron hotel sign was just outside our bedroom window (river view) but unfortunately during the night it was very windy, so kept creaking all night. The curtains on the windows left gaps.

I'm a regular visitor to The Embankment - mainly because I travel alone and it's nice to be in a busy and bustling environment that's not a corporate hotel. The staff are always friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is excellent - and, no matter what day of the week it's always busy. My hotel of choice when visiting Bedford. Only one niggle which isn't really big - when they are really busy the staff have tended to ignore the tables of people eating on their own and concentrate on the bigger tables - and, sometimes in these busy periods the food is a little rushed and as a result not as good quality.
