A very quiet and clean room with all the facilities that you would expect at a budget chain hotel costing twice as much - excellent value. Friendly and helpful staff, traditional pub food in generous quantities and a good pint of ale can be found in the pub next door. Warning / Recommendation: The Emmbrook retains the character of a traditional village pub from the days before the sterile pub-u-like makeover. If bright lights, pastel colours, rampaging kids and uniformed automaton staff with fixed corporate 'smiles' are your thing then The Emmbrook probably isn't for you. Otherwise grab yourself a pint and relive the good old days. I would stay here again.

Was not overly impressed with the welcome and information the staff gave us! The room was nice and the location was well suited to us! Apart from that not a lot to like! The staff were not friendly, and didn't give us a great deal of information or awareness. Seeing as it was a bed and breakfast, they didn't serve breakfast the weekend we stayed which we were very dissapointed about. The check out time was far too early as well! The cost of the Accomadation was high considering breakfast wasn't included and we could have stayed in a hotel where we would have been much more accommodated for a lower price.

The bath. I don't have one at home, and so it was a pleasure to soak in the tub! A few things were broken. A bedside lamp, the sink taps were turning! The toilet seat wasn't properly fixed, there was one cup and one mug.

Great value for money. Room was quiet, reasonably sized and well appointed for a very reasonable price. Meals are served in the pub just next door, and are again good quantity and quality for a reasonable price, although very much of the pie and chips sort. Breakfast was cooked to order and again well done but relatively basic in ambition. No croissants or fresh fruit salad, but a few things done pretty well. It took a little while to be noticed when I turned up for breakfast in the morning - there seemed no way of attracting anyone's attention short of vaulting the bar and banging on the kitchen door. As a lone female traveller on work business, I felt a bit out of place eating on my own and was surprised that there seemed no question of a dessert menu after dinner. Hence I took to my room earlier than planned. I felt a little more could have been done to make me feel a bit more welcome, although all the essentials were there.

The room was quiet, very clean and comfortable. Very good value for money. The fact that you had to state a time to go down for breakfast. It was a Sunday so we didn't know what time we would be up and about so we decided to not have the breakfast there.

the owners were very friendly and helpful, when we said 2 of us needed soy milk the owner must have gone early in the morning and picked it up for us. Nothing seemed a problem. The pub atmosphere was as we had imagined to be from programmes we have watched back home in Australia. .Our thanks to John and Rebecca for making our stay so memorable

Smart,Clean and wholesome. Suited us well for an Orchid Fayre at Dinton Pastures. A couple of plastic glasses in the bathroom, please. Lighting most odd. One doesn't expect all lights, except bathroom,to turn off from any switch in the room. Suppose one wants to sleep and the other read for a while. Very Odd. Also going down at 8.30a.M.looking forward to breakfast to find that the Inn was like the Marie Celeste. I suppose I was meant to book breakfast at the same time as the room. No mention was made on arrival. Not really complaints just observations that might achieve the final polish if rectified.

Comfortable and tidy room Got locked in the bathroom then got locked out of the bathroom but had no contact for emergencies and the main reception was closed. There were no fire safety instructions in the room, is that legal? No breakfast available and nowhere to hand keys in to so had to leave outside the room!

Brilliant b&b - the lodge had well equipped rooms ideally suited to an overnight stay when attending a friend's birthday party locally. £50 for a double room was brilliant value for money too.

The tub. Beds were too soft. One of the twin beds was unacceptable. The hotel was gracious and we switched rooms the last night we stayed.

The Friendliness of the staff and the customers in the attached pub. They went shopping in order to cater for my daughter's wheat intolerance, and also for Earl Grey tea when she expressed a preference. Could not have hoped for a more congenial stay.

The rooms were very clean and very comfortable, relatively spacious (not like your usual hotel chains). My husband and I, and my mother-in- law, needed rooms near my father's home in Winnersh - we were going to go out for a meal, and really just needed a nice room and breakfast in the morning. Not the type of hotel to go to if you want an "experience" - the hotel itself doesn't have a theme, and it's not close enough to any train stations that can take you into Reading for that "city" experience. However, I was very impressed with the room quality, and the breakfast was superb (Cereals and juice as self-serve, and a Full English Breakfast cooked perfectly - even if it did cost an extra £7 per person). For a short, overnight stay with a reasonable price, this hotel is ideal! The TV's could've been bigger, and the tv in my mother-in-law's room didn't work. The lock on our room door was bent, so it was difficult to lock and unlock. I'd picked my mother-in-law up from the airport in the morning, and I had requested an early check-in for her. However, when we got there, no one was around (fortunately, I could take her to my father's home while we waited for them to open). Not major inconveniences, but the hotel would've received 10/10 from us if it wasn't for these few oddities.
