Price was good as was the comfortable bed. Shower was good. Have to bring own shower gel, soap. No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Lot of renovation work seemed to be going on on my corridor necessitating plastic sheets all along the corridor.

This is a budget hotel and much like the airlines you pay for every extra like a kettle (£5 refundable) +£2 for the coffee/tea stuff. Breakfast too is a little basic, mostly Bread and cardboard Muesli. Parking is an additional £4 per day and should be considered in the price. But with all that being said the room shower and loo were all clean and for me thats very important, something the likes of travel lodge don't always remember. if you are looking for posh then look elsewhere, but if you are looking for cheap dependable place to stay then this is the place. I went to the ICC convention centre which is a mile away, and a 20 min walk but if you'r not up to that there are plenty of taxis, road noise is a bit off putting but hey it's a city! would stay again Like I said a bit noisy with a main road so close, but unlike some budget hotels I have stayed in you can't hear your neighbour snoring, breakfast is an additional £3.75 and a bit limiting, okay if you like chocolate spread and toast though. They were busy upgrading when I went and the TV's didn't work, but as it was the weekend of the digital switchover that is likely to improve. General moan about wireless, couldn't quite get it to work when I stayed, but when it does, like too many other hotels they charge you a fortune to use it.

Worth the cost. Small rooms but and windows, anyway comfortable and somehow clean. For the requested price it is perfect. Don't expect to have too much but if you just have to sleep in it it's ok there is no hairdryer but you can have one at reception. breakfast (continental) is 3.75 GBP internet for 1 GBP/20 minutes (excessive)

The hotel was very clean and confortable, very well located, good value for money for a quick city break or business. The room has some high tech lights, nice flat tv, good shower and toilet. The breakfast was good, eat all you can and cheap but it is a continental not english. Parking is an extra 4 pounds and if available, for me it wasn't so I had the choice of leaving the car on main road wich is a bit dangerous or park it in the ibis hotel pay 3 pounds and a 5 minute walk back to etap. The hotel staff was very informative but theres no smiles from them... Wifi Internet costs 3 pound 2 hours or about 6 for 1 day. Theres no shower gel provided only a tiny soap.

The cleanliness, of the hotel, the checking in and out time, the friendliness of staff, value for money, had a good night sleep, would recommed No kettle facilities in room, unless you oay £5.00, the room floor, could be better, with kids a few crumbs made the room look really dirty, room 149 too much car traffic noise

I didn't like this hotel at all. When I checked in, Room light was flicling, Showroom lamp was blow. I informed front desk. Nothing can be done untill maintenance man come next morning. Why all rooms are not checked before guest comes in room? Hotel said, all happened when I get in the room. Every thing in one time? Next day drainage of basin was very slow. Next day toilet flush was very week. I contacted front desk. Again responsewas nothing can be done untill maitenance comes. I waited at out side room for 1 hour and contacted with front ask for when can be done. Response was 'I don't know" with scream. I was aksed to stay out of room untill repair is done. I asked how long it takes, Again she said "I don't know". Should customer contact with mantenance man to find ? Front desk is the only contact with customer. How they can shout to customer? After all toilet flush was not recovered for rest of days I stay. I had to go downstair every time for toilet. I din't talk with front desk any more. Last day, elevator became out of order. Is this enough to know to tell you how this hotel was bad? This was the worst hotel service in my past 40 years of my travering experience. In every hotel, some action are taken to make condition better. But this hotel, this time, no action ware taken but shout to guest saying I don't know. Who knows then?

I admit to being a very very fussy customer and have stayed in mainly 5 star hotels. When this weekend was booked I was dubious to the standard of the hotel but as it was a Christmas shopping/seeing a show weekend with my daughters and friends I thought ok I will see what its like. How shocked was I !!! The staff were by far the most helpful, polite and friendly I have met in a hotel. The rooms although very basic were immaculate with an excellent shower. We opted for the breakfast which I did not expect to be up to much and although again the setting was basic the food was superb....Grapefruit, fruit, cereals, muesli, toast, croissants, baguettes, muffins, fruit juice, tea/coffee (incl diff variety's) and numerous preserves etc. Car park is excellent and good value for money. The public toilet on the ground floor was not clean.

Cheap and cheeerful On our day of departure we were having a quick cup of tea dowstairs at around 11am. On returning to our room we found that an ic4 male cleaner had started cleaning the room removing our possessions incliding our sunglasses and a small inflateable microphone toy. When challenged he returned our possessions but made no apology.

The location being near to the city centre, but not directly within the busy streets. The costs when all added up would have been the same as staying at a more comfortable regular hotel rather than the bargain basement 'cell block' feel of the Etap.

Nothing much at all! Felt very uncomfortable, and like I was staying in a hostel. Great for 18-24's who want a cheap place to stay to get their heads down after a night out, but def not suitable for anyone else. As above. Even the reception area was run down and very hostel like!!

“a warm welcome from the start, plenty off staff to assist at the checking in and departing procedures, informative and helpful, rooms clean and tidy although a little tight in the bathroom. Did not have a meal at the Birmingham Ibis though facilities looked comfortable. We will be looking to stop again at this hotel and this time try out what Ibis has to offer.” Martin, S. Devon |
