From the hotel notes and history, there had obviously been some initial investment by the current owners, but the general quality of the furniture in our room was low, eg, the door was almost falling off the TV cabinet, and other cabinets, tables etc were chipped. Having said that we were in a 'basic' room.
The TV was an old flat screen type but the TV channels were not shown on screen, you had to look in the hotel notes.
The window was dirty on the outside, but was adjacent to a glass conservatory roof, so access was not easy!
There was a double bed in our room, but many hotels of this standard would have a king size, also the mattress was very soft.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly in all departments, from reception to the cleaning staff! I would particularly mention Esther and colleagues in the restaurant.
The meals were also good quality and served professionally.
There was much attention to detail, e.g the bedclothes were turned back in the evening, and milk etc was replenished.
It was a special break for our 25th wedding anniversary and we were given some little 'treats.' I had also ordered some flowers which were in our room on arrival.
