Staff seemed nice and decent value
Wifi didn't work
Staff,... The girl at the reception said "have a sit and I bring you tea..." She left and never came back after 15 min... Really noisy !!!! (rooms above the bar, bad windows insulation, street noise even on a Tuesday...) Bad Matress with loads of painful Sprungs. 75£ for a double room with private bathroom... There is another place that just opened very classy for less than this en even better location...
Next to coach station and commercial area
loud music at night
The owner was nice
The state of the building, the state of the bathroom, the shower, the windows had to be propped open with bits of wood. No bedside light.
Location is the best, not far from station and easy to travel around oxford.
Noise from the bar is very heavy.
Convenient. Ideal location next to Heathrow/Gatwick Bus Stop. Perfect for a traveller arriving into Oxford late in the evening. Friendly Staff. Clean spacious room with all facilities. Quite- despite being located over a bar and next to a bus station. Own key with 24 hour access.
The building is old with narrow corridors and steep stairs.
The bannister to the stairs down to George Street is loose. Also, there was a nail-head protruding from a crudely jointed bannister rail, which will cut someone's finger.
Wifi worked well and reasonably fast. Locatiin was 5mins walk from railway station which was essential for me
Broken shelf where soap is placed usually in the shower was broken and jagged. Managed to slash my arm on this whilst in the shower. Dangerous and needs fixed. I reported it straight away but doubt anything will be done about it. No offers of compensation were given despite the cut stretchin up my whole forearm.
The room was very clean and the staff helpful.
It did say that it would be noisy and it was. The manager promised to bring us a receipt for the cash that we had to pay as the card machine was broken. He didn't bring it, nor was it available the next day and he left his young staff to apologise and deal with us. We weren't impressed with his management style, but the young woman did her very best. We did receive the receipt by email promptly the next day.,
quality matress good English breakfast but yet very basic
Wifi did not work The low water pressure in the shower The TV did not work nor the lights near the bed Bus station near by
The hotel is nicely central, the room was a good size and the breakfast was very fair.
The bar side of the business is quite smart but going through to the hotel side feels like going into a cheap 1970s hotel which has seen no maintenance since then. Also the staff although efficient enough and by no means explicitly rude could have done with a basic lesson in customer service (e.g. listen to guests and smile at them)
I enjoyed the ease of accessing the city centre and the buses to London and the airport.
The absence of a lift. I stayed on the top most floor and had to drag my suitcases all the way up.
location was great
some staff were rude and not helpful and the bathrooms were dirty.
Bad smell, very poor and bad quality breakfast, tv and Wi-Fi out of order, not clean, old and in bad condition facilities.
location brilliant, noisy bar downstairs wasn't a problem room very clean
stairwell a bit grubby
Good location !
The toilet did not work! Very noise !
Bohemian atmosphere in the breakfast area. Breakfast was plentiful. Comfortable bed. Bigger than expected room and en-suite.
The ensuite shower room had permanent stains in the linoleum-type floor. There was only one mug provided even though this was a double room/booking. One of the reading lights above the bed had no bulb. It is a shame that these lack of attention to such details should bring the tone down. It should be easy to remedy.
The location was handy as it is very central.
The room was above the bar, which I knew of on booking, however, the bouncing Halloween disco until 2.30 in the morning was not mentioned until I booked in! The whole building was in need of cleaning. The decor is run down and shabby. The room was a 1970's joke, very dingy, one cup for a double room, no plug for the sink, lights did not work. The breakfast was ok but the bar where you eat it was sticky, smelly and very unsavoury. The staff were slow, english language was a problem, did not provide butter etc as a given with toast, I had to ask on both mornings. I will not stay here again. For the price I paid I expected it to be clean if nothing else.
I´mstill waiting for the invoice to be send!!
a bad smell
Liked the new TV.
The shower! No power and looks so old that even of it's clean it looks dirty!
room, facilities, noise from the bar and the street
For £35 we got bed breakfast and a pint before we went out. Good central location and next to a 24hr car park
No en suite, fairly small breakfast portion, above a noisy bar
The location, right next to the Gloucester Green Bus Station.
I can tolerate old hotels. But this hotel smells and needs lots of repair. I had to walk up to the top floor with my luggage, and as soon as I reached the floor, a stale and foul smell hit me. The employee who showed me the room admitted he smelled it, too. But the owner insisted that nobody had reported it to him (as if he was not responsible), and promised that the room would be cleaned (and smell eliminated?) the next day. The smell remained. The public bathroom was awful. It was small and filthy, and the floor collapsed. Look for a different place if possible.
