The room is cheap, the hostel's location is great and the staff is very friendly.
There was no heating as it was broken and I felt cold during the whole night.
Cheap Central Free Wifi
Poor Wifi connection Dated decor
The location of this hostel is great! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room were ok and the showers were clean and had warm water (once you knew where the hot water switch was).
The room we had (twin in an apartment of 6) was quite smelly. It smelled a bit of wet socks. Unfortunately opening the window did not help too much. It was a bit of a shame since otherwise the rooms were fine.
Location, kitchen facilities, quiet room
Small shared bathrooms
Good kitchen, great staff and wifi, on site laundry, and good central location.
Loud. Doors and floors squeaked and slammed making it very difficult to sleep.
the rooms the family room is not fit for a family
The location and friendly staff.
The cleanness of the shared bathroom has lots to improve. Also, the offered towels had a strong bleach smell.
The location, within a stone's throw from the Royal Mile. The friendly, helpful staff. The cleanliness of the rooms
The location - in a street with seven nightclubs, so very noisy. The kitchen - untidy and needed a good cleaning out. The bathroom facilities - one bathroom for five rooms, shower washbasin and toilet in one room only.
Every thing else was good.
One has got to climb up and down to reach the hostel from its neighborhood. As senior citizen we found it a bit tough. Noisy place in first week of August.
Location is excellent, centrally located, the price is fantastic for the location, the staff was super helpful, even directed us toward free parking.
It's a value hostel so it's excellent for the location, but the facilities themselves are nothing amazing.
location was brilliant.
rooms could do with an update.
A good location for the university open day. Pleasant staff and clean facilities.
Uncomfortable beds, creaking doors and floors throughout the building made for a sleepless night.
Friendly very helpful staff. Comfortable bed.
A large family dominated the shared bathroom at peak time in the morning for an hour and a half.
Location, comfort, price (even during the Festival).
A little bit unfriendly the staff, to much work oriented. And why they don't try to understand us when leaving and ask us to pay for left luggage. Or to pay for late check-out. It is not polite. I think. Thank you!
Location, location, location. Close to all Festival venues and Royal Mile.
Location again. It's quiet in the daytime but there are many bars on the street below, which seem to be open all night. Drunks shouting along the street at all hours. Also, I wish there had been breakfast available, more than just a bun and coffee.
To much noise by night in the street, it is not good to rest
Close to Edinburgh castle and shops and restuarants.
Smelly carpets. Noise from the fringe festival
it had everything you need, im not fused on a fancy hotel room, all you do is sleep there, it was cleaned everyday, had separate showers and toilets and a kitchen with all the facilities, its literally 2min walk to the main strip of Edinburgh which was brilliant for Fringe Festival, will be staying again.
toilet seat was broken and not fixed.
5 minute walk to nearly anywhere in the city, staff were wonderful, very helpful, met our needs for this visit very well. Fire alarm went off one morning and very orderly evacuation, no panic, calm staff, most impressed!
External party noise, but we expected this as last weekend of Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Tattoo
The location was good, though it was a bit difficult to find. Had to walk quite a bit around trying to find it. It is located on a street below so walking on South Bridge you'll not reach it.
It was very noisy both from a pub/club close by and from the traffic, very very bad sleep. Make sure to ask for a quiet room (on the inner court rather than on the street) if you're tired and want to have a good rest. We had to ask for towels as we had none in the room but they give you at the reception if you ask for them. The room is very small for a twin but we were in Edinburgh only for a night so it wasn't too bad. Not very pleasant for longer stays though.
- late check-in possible - luggage storage for 2GBP per suitcase
- room was very cold - looked horrible, prehistoric furniture - small beds - uncomfortable
I only stayed overnight. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean and comfortable.
Budget hostel clean and great staff.
efficient staff.clean.easy access.
very bare kitchen.eg-1 cup.2platesdoors banging.creaky bed.
The hostel was located near the city centre
The hygiene in the kitchen, toilet and shower was horrific. There was no clean kitchen towel and only 2 pans in total. The microwave didn't work, other guests didn't clean after themselves and there was rubbish everywhere. The location is very noisy and I got the feeling there might be a lot of vermin in the house... it is worth it to pay a little more and save yourself the trouble.
