The location Not at all did I like that this hotel added tax to the price given by bookng.com when I booked this hotel. Cannot remember that the Hotel Reservation Service (hrs.de) have done this for their hotels. So there came an extra 50 pounds on my bill The breakfast did not stimulate my appetite, next time I will chose a room where breakfast is not inclued (especially the coffe was not good)

This hotel is in an excellent location for travellers to the city. Its close to the major roads, 2 minutes walk from the station/metro. Parking is free overnight and there are excellent restaurants close by. Ideal if you're visiting for a weekend or a night out. Room 501 is affected by vibration/droning noise from car park next door so probably the same on all floors. Disabled access room on the same floor seemed of inferior standard or suffered from much more used than other rooms.

Modern, fresh, vibriant and friendly. Great location 5mins from the rail station, 10mins from football stadium and just round the corner from Chinatown which holds an array of restaurants for all budgets. Rooms were spacious, clean, comfy beds and very roomy showers. Buffet breakfast was included hot or cold and plentiful. Would stay there again

Close to the central train station. For an Express, I was impressed with the breakfast, and facilities. We will be in Newcastle again in 2012 and this would be the hotel of choice The mattress is a bit tired and lumpy but I didn't expect the RItz at the same time.

The location and value for money. As it was new year there were doormen checking us off a list as we came in, we found this an uncomfortable inconvenience.

It had a good central location near the train station, quayside, and the town. The breakfast was free, but bad enough that we skipped it most days. It seemed that the same food stayed in the food containers and was just brought out again and reheated each day. The bananas were brown and splitting open, the muffins were stale, the sausages were dried and crinkly, and the eggs inedible. Most days the bread was stale as well, with the exception of the day we left - it must have been the day they replaced the food. There is no refrigerator in the rooms (our was a very tiny room!), and there are only 7 real tv channels. A place to sleep, but really nothing else.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the hotel is very close to the train station. The breakfast hot dishes are same every day. It would be nice to have other options to have the eggs for example. The internet connection in the room is via a cable/wire makes it uncomfortable to be online, watch tv and be in the comfort of the bed at the same time.

Location was excellent for the night we had planned. The noise outside the hotel from hotel guests was unacceptable. These were people that were going outside of the foyer and smoking and then arguing. This was late in the night, at approx 02.00. no attempt was made to shut them up. Presumably they wetre hanging around in the bar and then they were running around corridors.

Really is a very good location and literally 2 mins walk from the train station with easy access to all the good City nightspots. The staff were friendly and made good recommendations for pubs and restaurant locations, and took the trouble to find out what we would like first. The hotel breakfast was functional and it got us through the day, but not the best (or the worst to be fair). This hotel is essentially a crash pad for business people and stag/hen nights, but it is overall well done and for convenience alone we'd probably consider staying there again. The room was neat and tidy but the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner especially under the sink which didn't look like it had seen a duster for a while. Also £1.50 per bag cloakroom concierge fee was a bit of a surprise - can't remember ever being asked to pay at a hotel for this service before. Watch out if you need to leave lots of bags - could get expensive!
