Like the wifi and the tv in the room. Beds were comfortable but could have more pillows.
Mold in the room and fire safety not filled out in the room. Shared shower and toilet. Could here everything through the walls, easily woken up. Cleaning products they use smell unpleasant was tempted to by an air fresher to hide the smell. Not all lights worked and front door hard to get open. Not suitable for someone who has a lot of luggage due to steps being steep. Was disappointed by the room as they was nothing like the photographs.
location access to transport cleaning\room staff
room size and organisation shared bathroom was dirty needs proper maintenance
Clean, tidy room, fine location and polite, helpful staff
shower was disappointing as you had to play around and follow instructions to make it work and then it could go to a trickle with no warning
The location, amenities and staff Michelle ...London
The room was too small, it felt a bit claustrophobic. For too fairly tall people the space was not enough
This hotel is in a great spot to access all parts of London. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, albeit a bit repetitive if you stay a few days.
The stairs to reach the top, floor are a real challenge. Need to warn travellers so they can be prepared, or even request a room on lower levels. Room tiny but location made up for it.
they renewed the place for breakfast grealty improving it! loved it! the rooms are a bit small, but enough for a few nights after long walking days. it is on walking distance from several various tourism atractions and being this close to kings cross broadens the possibilities
Before booking this hotel I specifically inquired if there would be a secure place to keep our bikes overnight. I was assured by the receptionist that they could be kept in the luggage room.On the booking form I mentioned this agreement to make sure that it had been properly noted. When we arrived however with 2 fully laden touring cycles we were told there was nowhere to put our cycles. The duty manager basically dismissed the agreement because it was a night porter who said we could store them in the luggage room. Eventually he said we could store them outside in the back yard of the hotel. Not the best start.
A stone's throw from Kings Cross / St Pancras, so very central and brilliant for getting around London.
To be fair I was aware of the shared WC and shower room when I booked, but as it is a 'wet room', you really need to leave your room with only a towel round you to go for a shower!
Great location, right across the king's cross station. Easy to find. Comfortable bed. Not far from centrum. Small but clean.
No sink at the toilet. Had to wash hands at the room. A hole in the bathroom door. Very thin walls - you could hear everything!
No bath mat, the floor can be very slippy
Don't stay at the Excelsior hotel! The pictures on the website are nothing like the actual rooms and the staff are unhelpful. When myself and my friend arrived to the room, we were shocked to find the size of the room was nothing like had been shown in the photos online, there was dirt on the windowsill, the smell coming from the toilet outside our room was disgusting! Absolutely horrific facilities and only one out of the three plug sockets worked. We went to complain about the room and the staff member was so unprofessional, chewing gum loudly as he spoke to us. When we complained we were told we would have to wait until there was a manager there in the morning, so we checked out at 10am the next morning, asked for the manager and surprise surprise he wasn't there!! Absolutely terrible hotel, don't stay here
Reception service was excellent-we arrived to hotel a few hours before check in,but they very quickly prepared our room
We put our luggage and paid first but when we came back they said our rooms had problem and only gave us a small room with two double bed but we booked 2 rooms for five person. Really really dissatisfied!! Not recommend at all!!!
Room was bigger than our last stay, daughter had been to hospital for day op & they let us chill at the hotel until our train at 5pm......
very hot in the room & neighbours were noisy!
great location across the road from kings cross railway station with the tube station a few hundred yards away ceiling fan in room a bonus staff very helpful left the bags with hotel after checking out this was very good of them
shower floor could do with non slip mats
Cleanliness and location
Discourteous staff. We checked out 10 am and left our luggage. When we came back to get them 3 hrs later the valet does not want to carry our luggage from where he kept it. He rudely told us that 1GBP per luggage is not enough
Flat was nothing at all like the one on the picture shown we were to report to another Hotel from the one we booked not a problem then were not even in that hotel , man showed us up the street over the road to a block of very poor flats opened the door and said you are no 4 up the stairs then left , flat was like a hostel and next block from us was infact a hostel for down and outs , who sat on the steps drinking out of cans till early hours of the morning , 100% would never use again , both your hotels looked ok but why were we not in them , lf my husband had not been with me i would have felt very scared , i booked a flat within a hotel and ended up in a side street with no contact with the hotel , totally not on
Very Clean and extremely polite and helpful
The location was brilliant. Very convenient. The room was a good size.
I stayed for 5 nights and the wifi did not work at all. I even tried the ethernet cable but no luck. I complained and each day was told it was being fixed. On my final night the wifi appeared to work in the corridor but not in my room. I had to stand in the corridor to access emails etc. This is not practical. The sheets were supposed to be changed on the third day but were not changed at all during my stay. Crumbs from my room were brushed to the outside of my door but remained there in a pile. I told the reception staff my complaints on the last day and asked for a partial refund. The wifi problems had severely impacted upon my work. I asked for the manager to discuss it as I would rather discuss in person than leave a negative review. I was not contacted and have received no refund. I think that as I stayed 5 nights that a partial refund would be appropriate. It should also be noted that the hotel charges for the use of credit or debit cards (except electron). I think the charge was 2%. This wasn't clear at the time of booking.
Good Location, very convenience
Room is very very small
The room was hot and did not even have air con nor a fan. We opened the window at night to let fresh air in, but there was a scaffolding just outside our window, so to be safe, we decided to close the window and we were sweating the entire night. No lift. The kettle was so dirty. The room was really really tiny. For the amount we paid, we could have stayed at a better room at the Comfort Inn. We booked for 2 nights, but decided to check out the following morning. We want our money back! Pictures on internet surely did not depict the rooms we were given!
The location near King Cross tube/metro station is good. You can easily go to the main tourist places in London very easy and fast. In the night the location (in front of a small garden) was quiet. Staff was nice. I have been to London many times but always during winter, I was very surprised to see how nice it is London in summer.
The room was too small. The bathroom and the shower in our case was outside the room shared with other 3 rooms (we knew this during the reservation) and this was fine for us as they were clean. There is no elevator, no problem for us, but for somebody it may be important to know. They charge £1 x bag for the storage, in case you need to leave your luggage there for some hours (I think this £1 could be avoided ...).
The rooms were clean! And the neighborhood was not very crowed, sow we hadn't got problems with too much noise. In te room there is a sink, a water heater and tea!
The wifi connection was bad, I think I only had 1or 2 times very slow connection in 4 days. What is partly positive and partly negative is the location. The excelsior lies near by st. Pancreas station( a beautiful train station) gladly there are good travel connections by metro and bus, but if you like to walk to the center of London it will take more than 45 min. So, you almost kind of forced to go by train, bus, metro or cap.
Disgusting customer service. Appalling complaints system.
