Score from 305 reviews Very good
Everything was adequate for my particular needs.
But nothing was more than adequate!
The lack of hot water. No lampshades. Mouldy carpets. Old lumpy bed and duvet. Damp walls. Dindgy lighting. Filthy, chipped bath.
No bar/ mini-bar/ food services The staff simply didn't care Room looked old and rusty (especially the bathroom)
Cheap for accommodation so close to the station and the high street. Car park. Rooms are a good size. Beds reasonably comfortable. Wifi works fine.
Rather shabby - everything looks a bit run-down. Have been staying here for years, and while everything works, nothing has been updated or improved.
The hotel is basic, but I knew this. Free wifi, comfy bed, decent TV and very reasonable breakfast. Have stayed before as is excellent value for money if you just need somewhere to rest your head.
Bathroom could do with some silicone work doing.
The receptionist was really nice and the tv was good
shower leaked so bathroom flooded
Stayed here often but the rooms are in very poor condition. Dirty bedding, electric hazard in the bathroom ( open wiring on uncovered light)
Cheap and cheerful. You get what you pay for.
Can't complain about a budget hotel. At a push would have to book again but would not be my first choice.
Location good, was cheap but not good value given state of hotel
Old rooms, poor decoration & stale smell throughout. Hotel closing in a few weeks, so give it a miss!
Staff were fantastic, especially the manager, who fell over himself to accommodate the requests of our very large family gathering (almost 50 of us). Bar staff and breakfast staff were unfailingly pleasant, cheerful and efficient. Rooms were clean and comfortable with hospitality tray and toiletries which could not be faulted. Breakfast was excellent. We were rather perturbed by the very negative reviews but they couldn't have been more wrong.
The hotel is closing soon and it was clear that no money had been spent on decor for a long time so carpets were tired and stained and there was a musty smell in places. The bar area was not open but we were allowed to drink in the restaurant.
No refund when cancelling due to medical reasons
A no-frills, clean hotel that is close to orbital motorway and good for a single overnight stop might be found wanting if you stayed longer.
The only access to the "free" WIFI adds your details to a marketing database before you realise what it is doing. Breakfast buffet was stripped bare by a coachload of Polish travellers that arrrived in restaurant just before me so I had a long wait to get something to eat.
station close cheap price breakfast available at extra cost
it needs a little tlc and a coat of paint
location to Rickmansworth and tube
Poor quality run down hotel, not the worst I stayed in but it needs attention.
We had to come down to London as my daughter was undergoing surgery. (August 2014). As we will have to come down several times in the next twelve months the cost has to be kept reasonable whilst maintaining a good standard of accommodation and customer service. Having stayed at the Long Island Hotel on three occasions last year, (my mother having had an accident and spending four weeks in Watford hospital), we were well aware of the hotel standards. This hotel is rated as two star. The staff are excellent, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Again we were made very welcome. A budget menu is on offer in addition to the usual A La Carte for those watching their purse strings. Whilst I will admit the hotel in places is a little shabby and in need of some refurbishment, on the whole, a stay here is really good value for money. This is London after all. Our family room was spotless and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent with choices from both a cold buffet and/or a cooked selection. Prior to our stay here we priced several hotels in the vicinity of our London hospital and we were shocked at some of the room only rates. Whilst some had a higher star rating, our visit was to be purely functional. The tube station is only across the road with trains every 15 minutes, 45 minutes into central London, and the day travel card zones 1 - 9 proved to be cheaper than a single to the hospital we attended. Excellent value. Whilst it is really good to go to London, getting away from central London at the end of the day can be even better. The Long Island is a budget hotel. It is also a family hotel, and our four year old little monster was well catered for in all respects within the family room. We will certainly be using the hotel again in a few months time when my daughter returns for more surgery.
I did not like to hear that this hotel may be closing in the not too distant future. This would explain the lack of refurbishment. We are aware that there is no other hotel in Rickmansworth and find it hard to understand especially when the occupancy rates seem to be high. May be your customers have a message for the local council........
only and only the location.
the whole experience.
Cleanliness Quality of rooms
The room was perfectly clean and tidy. We'd read the negative reviews and checked out the bed sheets and towels immediately. They were washed and white. The Wi-fi worked very well, we had a good night's sleep every night, and everything in the room functioned perfectly.
It just needs a little TLC. The paint is peeling a little in places and the curtains look shabby but really nothing that affected us.
It was value for money. Nice and central location
The appearance in the reception area was not inviting.
Size of room for the price was good
Beds were very soft and lumpy. Need to replace mattresses.
Could be a top hotel. Bit dated but ideal location and comfortable stay. Lovely staff enjoyed my stay. Would stay again thanks
The fact that it's local and convieient - shame it's having to close
Comfy beds Quiet rooms Nice breakfast
Dated bathroom Dirty unpolished chrome bath taps
