very comfortable, clean and roomy.

A nice Hotel in the west end of Southampton. Good facilities , free on site parking, nice breakfast and friendly staff. Very good value for money.

Everything was first class,as always. Room and shower room were spotless.

I booked on line, my email stated strictly non smoking. On arrival to the hotel I was informed that my room was a smoking room. I am a non smoker, I asked if this could be changed as I didn't request one, or indeed was not informed that was the room that I was booking. I was offered a 'spray can if the room was a bit stinky'. I declined a spray can as I was concerned over the health implications of continuous spraying. The room was not pleasant, all my belongings smelt of smoke, I smelt of smoke, I really didn't want to spend time in the room, it was a real unpleasant stay. I asked to be transferred to another Holiday Inn express and was informed this couldn't happen. I had no choice but to stay in the room after asking twice as a non smoker to move out of a poorly ventilated smoking room, to which I couldn't as there were no rooms available.

Very clean and comfortable hotel, friendly staff. Breakfast was good and well stocked even during busy periods.

Tea and coffee weren't very nice at breakfast.

Comfy beds, and handy for Soutthampton city and airport.

Room was cold. Breakfast choice.

Very little only the positive apology received from their General Manager regarding our complaints.

The hotel was very noisy and overrun by young children with very little parental control. The room and bar/restaurant were less than clean. We were informed that this was not usual but they had accepted a large group whose behavior was without any regard for other guests and with only one night porter they could do nothing about it. We did receive a written apology but no financial recompense which perhaps would have been a nice gesture considering the discomfort we suffered

Hi, We arrived at approx 10pm and there was no food available. It would have been nice to be able to have just a sandwich. However, this was not a major issue and we would definately stay here again.

Was surprised that smoking rooms still existed in hotels and that despite the fact that we had booked rooms including children, smoking rooms were our only option when we arrived.

No soul, but serves its purpose of good clean accommodation for the night. Bar prices are steep. We were given a choice of rooms but it turned out we were allocated next to a young family. They were noisy at first but fortunately settled down later. It would be better to put the grumpy old people away from the lively young families if there is a choice! The scrambled eggs were very strange tasting.Perhaps from a reconstituted base or something?? The breakfast area was very busy - and the tables very near together. It was difficult to go back for more coffee or tea as these were provided in the middle of the buffet where people were queuing for cooked meals etc. Better if they had been accessible at a separate section. I would recommend the hotel if you need to be located near Southampton but not as the main goal of your holiday, however it is not meant to be a country retreat...
