Holiday Inn Express Southampton - M27, J7  

Although the room was basic it provided all one would want for a short stay,the evening meal was good for the price,breakfast.was better than we thought we were going to get,not as stated but full English.in all very good.

The sausages at breakfast!

We found this Holiday Inn Express very comfortable. The room was clean and we made use of the Health Centre next door which we found good value at £7.75 per day and children are free. The breakfast was varied although my son complained that there was no bacon, however, I did explain that they had recently started doing cooked breakfast foods so maybe next time... :)

Although the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, I found them to be a bit patronising and they didn't come across as entirely genuine. The only other slight negative was that there was no fresh coffee at breakfast, which surprised me as this is a European hotel chain. Other than that, we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely book again.

Excellent location for city centre and New Forest.Seventh heaven I would imagine for the cricket enthusiast as only a short stroll from the Rose Bowl cricket ground. Very good value for money and a high quality buffet breakfast was included in the price ! All staff including cleaners were extremely courteous.We would certainly stay here again .

Ease at the reception and into a clean and pleasant room at a good price.

Perfect location for visiting our friends in southampton, and we were made welcome on arrival.after a long drive, the room was of a very high standard, as was the food at breakfast. We had a most enjoyable stay, and look forward to staying again in the future.

A well appointed modern hotel well located close to the Motorway. The staff were helpful, the room was clean, comfortable & quiet and the price represented good value.

Clean and tidy

This was a short notice trip to visit family with very little time to research the hotel. We could not find a hotel in the area for less than £85 for the night. So to find this one at £61 I thought was a bit of a risk, but we decided to take the chance. On our arrival to say we were please would be an understatement. On our arrival the parking was more than adequate. The registration went very smoothly, with a very polite, friendly and efficient receptionist. The room was on the second floor, very clean and a good size (this is a new hotel so it will be interesting to see how it wears in a couple of years) everything we required in the room tea, coffee etc. The hotel was very quiet with no noise on the corridors. We had a good night’s sleep, which is after all is what it is all about. Breakfast is a bit more than just toast. There was a good selection, with the staff replenishing the hot food regularly. Ok it’s not‘full English’ but more than adequate. I stay at hotels on business on a very regular basis. I can honestly say, I have always found it is the staff who make a stay memorable and this hotel have staff who made us feel welcome from the beginning to the end. Well done To sum up clean, comfortable and great value. Will stay again

Nothing on this visit

The staff were friendly and interested in what we were doing. They made a point of speaking to us and answering questions. We were travelling with our dog and they were interested in her, making a great fuss of her when we arrived.They could not have been more helpful!

I believe I'll do better noting a couple of things that would improve the hie Southampton in my eyes. 1) Having to go to the lobby to get a small glass of ice is ridiculous; 2) Having an address on Botley Road when you're not physically located on Botley Road (apparently) does not make finding the hotel easy--and saying its across from the Rose Bowl doesn't mean much to foreigners; 3) Staff answering the phone spoke so fast as to be unintelligible, especially for a foreigner (like me). That said, we enjoyed our stay, the breakfast in the morning, and having a decent sized shower with good running water.
