My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and were really happy with the hotel and particularly the hotel staff. As a diabetic I suffered hypoglycemia that went out of control for some time and hurt my right toe against the door which started bleeding. My wife rushed to the reception and received timely help from 'Magic'. The paramedics were immediately called and I regained my composure. The Guest Service Manager Mr Billy Monaghan and his efficient staff went all out to help us especially my wife who was shaken up by this incident. They even moved us to a quieter room. Although our trip was marred by this little incident, we still take back with us beautiful memories of our stay at the hotel just because of the warm, helpful friendly staff . I would gladly recommend this hotel as 'a hotel that cares.'

Enjoyed our stay in Holiday Express, great location. Our room was simple but warm, clean and comfortable, room was serviced every day, breakfast was satisfactory and always well stocked,on a negative point there was very little room to hang clothes in bedroom but we would def stay here again if in Edinburgh.

The hotel was centrally located so all major attractions could be reached easily on foot. It was close to bars, restaurants and clubs in the evening. The room was modern and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and very helpful and the buffet breakfast was very comprehensive. The only thing I could fault the hotel on is that the bedclothes were not quite warm enough, though to be fair we stayed when the weather was very cold. In any case we were fine after the first night.

Very good location only a couple of minutes walk to the royal mile and 6 minutes from the rail station. Clean hotel with friendly staff. The hotel itself is reasonably priced, however it cost me over £35 to park the car for 48 hours in the nearest NCP car park (recommended by the hotel), and this was with a discount from the hotel.

It is OK, but a bit far away from the station. Room was clean, but Wifi was bad.Just business hotel. Wifi was terrible. I couldn't connect to Wifi, and ask Hotel staff to help. Since only 30 people can access to their wifi, several people will fail to conect--nowadays, people has multiple devices, such as iphone, computer and iPad--so, only 30 connection is not enough.

Brilliant location, only one block away from the royal mile. Very close to Grassmarket bars. Spacious, modern and clean rooms. The breakfast choice is very limited and disappointing.

The proximity to the Royal Mile (next street) made it a good launch-pad for tourist sightseeing along the Mile and old city areas. The breakfast had a good spread and was filling. Reception counter staff were always friendly and helpful. Not suitable for lugging luggage on foot from the train station, due to the fact that it is located over a hill (the Royal Mile). By taxi is ok arriving and departing.
