Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.
Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.
Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.
Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.
Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

Only stayed one night but a visit to Norwich cathedral on the Sunday morning for the sung Eucharist service was very enjoyable, with choristers, a characterful cathedral cat called Budge, tea and coffee afterwards and the chance to admire this beautiful historic building

Norwich - the only hill in Norfolk is famous for Elm Hill the Tudor street, cathedral and castle. The centre is compact so the touristy bits are easy to walk round. The market is well worth a visit as is a walk along the river to whet the appetite before stopping for an excellent sandwich at the Britons Arms.

Easy access to bus and train station.
Lots of historic sights to visit.
Good shopping including a market.
Great old bookshops.
The cathedral is fabulous.
Lots of varieties of cafes, restaurants and all sorts of pubs and bars.. But need to book.
Good entertainments including street musicians.
As with all other cities not good to see rough sleepers. They should have safe places to go.

Norwich is a walkable city with some historic buildings, (Castle, cathedral and churches), and less attractive modern buildings. Plenty of pubs and restaurants but signposting in the city could be clearer. It took us a while to locate the cathedral which was disappointing from the outside but more impressive within.

Norwich is very well arranged city and kept in good order.
Norwich is very well arranged city and kept in good order. Shopping is good with a well appointed department store. Restaurants abound and cater for most tastes and budgets. The Ivy was particularly good.
The local population are very helpful and will return or even offer a smile.
The centre of town has a permanent covered market stall area which is definitely worth exploration.
One of a few towns that I will happily revisit.

Lovely range of shops; lots of interesting little independent places and a lively market. And excellent range of eating places.
Lots of lovely old buildings; Victorian and Georgian streets.
I recommend the walk through the Cathedral Close down to the river. Also a visit to the Forum where there's always something to see.
From initial booking to checking out the hosts were very helpful and informative and made the check in / out process very easy.
The apartment is a very spacious and was exactly what we were after for our night away with friends, rather than having 2 separate rooms in a hotel, this was so much more sociable.
We didn’t use the 3rd bedroom but noted this was now a double bed as opposed to the bunk beds on the pics.
Parking space was a massive bonus. Great location for city centre.
Great location in the city centre, very near the Theatre Royal. The building itself is stunning and our room (Room 11) was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, lovely toiletries and fantastic shower, plenty of room in a historic part of the house. The food was very good and beautifully presented. The staff were all great and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. We would definitely consider staying there again if we were in Norwich.
I liked how close the hotel is to the station and city centre. It’s on a little side road so is quiet and I wasn’t bothered by any train or traffic noise. The room was basic but very clean - perfect for me as I was using it only as a base. The hosts are lovely people too. Some of the most welcoming I’ve met. I will definitely continue to stay here in my trips to Norwich.
I thought the Hotel was comfortable clean and to. The Receptionist was very good. The heating in the room was good as was the kitchenette. We wold have liked a little more room so there could been two easy chairs in the room. The Hotel is in an excellent location to access the City Centre. A good Ideal for short stay breaks. The ParkingRrangement was also very good.
The main building is beautiful and looks quite impressive from the outside as it used to be a big estate. The hotel has a decent swimming pool with a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, which guests can use without additional charge. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. The hotel has beautiful grounds and a golf club. Overall I think it's good value for money.
The hotel is ideally situated in a moat.oleasant part of Norwich, close to the city centre but tucked away in a lovely residential area. The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive, both at reception and in the restaurant. We ate dinner and breakfast on site. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was generous and the full English was good.
conveneient situation near the rail station and a ten minute walk to the cathedral or into town (and its a nice railway station, not a dodgy area). overlooks the river. rooms in good condition. bed comfortable. no noise from other rooms.guests. everything in good order. norwich is delightful, especially if you like churches or river walks.
Such a beautiful hotel. The rooms were spacious and the restaurant facilities were sublime. Service from the front desk was exceptional and helpful. It would be lovely to see more of the hotel itself. It's only 15 minutes into the city centre and so you don't feel you are missing out.
The Maids Head Hotel is in a great location in Tombland: near the cathedral, the city centre and the railway station is a an easy walk away. It's a slightly old-fashioned place - to be expected as it dates from 1287 - but still a nice, friendly and central place to stay.
Location is very good. Beds were fine. Basically the cheapest hotel in Norwich and it's only for a night so did the job. Fulfilled our request with the beds and the staff were alright. Basically as a hotel which you only use to sleep in for a couple nights max its sound.
This was a great property to stay in, 15 min from train station and was met by the host who was lovely. The place was lovely, clean and very modern inside. If your looking to stay in Norwich for a few days this place I would recommend.
The staff is extremely helpful and attentive! The hotel is very clean and they have a lot of public spaces for people to use. The location is also quite good with easy walking access to all of Norwich's major tourist areas!
nice manor home 10 minute drive from Norwich city centre , nice facilities but didn’t have time to use them their is a sauna and swimming pool for hotel guest and spa guest to use , breakfast was Included in room price
Hotel is on a perfect location close to the center of Norwich. We had a big room at the top floor, which had a nice seating area. The room was very clean. Also the breakfast was lovely.
