The price was excellent, it was quiet and close to a restaurant next door. We were very close to the airport which made it an easy departure for our return back to Canada at the end of our trip. We travelled through Europe and the UK for seven weeks this summer using a netbook to communicate with family at home and plan excursions etc. This was the first hotel that we had to pay to use the internet and 7.50 pounds was a bit steep to do that. The family rooms were pull out beds and they were not very comfortable and I was surprised to see that the only bedding covering the couch material was one thin bedsheet, no cover on top of the couch before the sheet went on, it seemed rather odd to me, not a problem.

The charge of wi fi is very expensive. 12 pounds for 24 hours. No air conditioner and no ventilation in toilet. Staff is ok, but not good. The room charge is reasonable.

Easy access to Manchester City stadium, anyone fit could easily walk to the stadium in 20 mins. Pub on same site doing pub grub! Free parking. 24 hour bar. Nice bathroom. Hairdryer. Tea and coffe/kettle in room. Breakfast better than expected, continental but also had sausages, eggs, beans. Coffee at breakfast brilliant, its the one they charge about £3 during the rest of the day. Safe for lone female travellers. Bus route into town, taxis there regularly. Better than driving round Manchester for hours looking for parking and then paying £7 for 4 hours. Booked 2 family rooms, luckily 2 friends didnt come, as we were given a twin room by mistake. We didnt realise this until after we got back late at night from the Take That concert as we had put all our things into the family room and gone straight out. By the time they realised their mistake the family room that we had booked had been allocated to someone else and we had gone out, however, I had given my mob no on booking so they could have called me. Asked if there would be compensation, told no, that all rooms were the same price. However, I would have thought that just for public relations they may have waived the £3.50 on our bill for a drink we had, but they didnt. Would have been a big problem had the other 2 people have come. Moral of the story is, always check that youve got the correct room before you go out!!

The hotel staff were very helpful. The room was clean & offered all the basics required for a short city break, at a very reasonable cost. The room we were allocated was in the smoking area and smelt disgusting! We had requested a non-smoking room when booking. However, reception apologized and changed the room without any hesitation.

Polite, helpful reception staff, check in quick. Room basic but very clean and comfortable. Nice big shower. For what we paid (£79 for 2 nights) I thought it was very good value for money. Buffet breakfast included, basic but ok.

Good location, comfortable and had everything you need for an overnight stay. My room had a connecting door to another room. From about 10.00 for two hours all I could hear was the person in the next room snoring. Eventually I asked to be moved, which was done immediately.

My son and I treated ourselves to a visit to the Manchester velodrome to watch the the cycling. The Holiday Inn Express was chosen because its nearby and included breakfast in the room rate. All went to plan and we both give it 10/10.

The hotel is far from the city :(taxi cos us 15 euro to go in the city, also it's very far from the airport. I won't gonna recommend this hotel for someone who has baby or children. You also can hear the people in the next room. The breakfast is alright but still the location is bad. It's really a bad experience cos we have a baby and we had to travel to Trafford, to get there we had to ride a 201 bus to city which cost 5.60 then a metro link to old Trafford cost 4.00 then a taxi from stadium cost 10. 50, it's so sad that we spend that much in transport. We learn our lesson next time it's better to stay in the city. Also wireless not free!!! L 12 per 24 hour!!!!
