Comfort at a good price

Breakfast is a little hectic and can be very busy when Cruise ships in.

Staff needed to be more welcoming. A problem over the bill for drinks and the customer did not feel like they were always right.!! It was the staff mistake but didn't feel like it!

In an effort to offer a competitive price Holiday Inn Express have apparently decided to remove not only any form of luxury from their hotels but also everything that might make staying in a hotel a pleasant experience. No doubt the nadir is their offering of really quite pathetic meals – it’s no wonder that the reception area is strewn with takeout menus. It’s really quite remarkable that the staff were pleasant and professional given their surroundings.

I use the hotel quite often and I qlways book a double room with double bed for me and my wife. The last 3 stays I have had two single beds. The reason I ask for a double bed is that I am in the armed forces and only get to see my wife svery 3 or 4 weeks, and only for the one night so a bit of comfort together would be nice. Not two single beds.

Very quiet location, away from any other activities. Room was large, and we were given a wheelchair users room, which had a good set up for wheelchair users.

Just small things:- There needs to be a light above the bathroom mirror The shower curtain needed to be a little longer, otherwise it is quite hazardous as the water spews all over the bathroom floor when showering. The duvet was rather short, so we either had to had cold feet or cold shoulders!

Nice spacious room, friendly welcome on Reception.

I pre-booked the room using my Visa debit card. However when I went to check out I asked if I could pay by cash. My cash was taken but I discovered a couple of days later that the debit payment still went through on the day I checked out (4 January 2012). I have since emailed my Bank Statement for the attention of the Accounts Dep't of the Holiday Inn Express (as requested by the person who answered the phone when I queried this) but I have received no reply and the money hasn't been refunded to me. I would be grateful if this could be looked at. Sue Warne (stayed on the night of 3 January 2012)

The staff were very friendly. An absolute delight to have met.

My bathroom was dirty. The toilet seat wasnt clean.

The location suited our purpose, as we were to meet with family and friends.

Near to the shopping area but I must say the Rose Bowl Holiday Inn when we stayed there last has spoilt us
