Cleanliness of dining area needs improving

Breakfast area needs to liven up and a better cleaning. Some (not all of them) of the Cleaning staff (rooms) unfriendly. Personally, just by looking at me they made me feel unwelcome. Reception staff friendly and helpfull. Room is of a good size and comfortable. Nice bathroom. A big free parking place.

Whenever we need to go and stay in the Southampton area we always use this hotel as we know exactly what to expect from them and they never disappoint. The introduction of the option of a hot breakfast aswell as the choice of continental was a welcome surprise, and a good addition to a hotel that already offers an excellent service.

Location for an event we were attending

Staff were on a Christmas Party, so external staff had been bought in and didn't know anything! Didn't know nearest shop, nearest cash machine or how to open the bar. Beds were too soft and we ended up rolling into the middle. Lots of scale in the kettle - it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Walls and door thin - got woken up by a family leaving at 6am.

Very clean, welcoming room, with just the right amount of facilities; tea, coffee, hair and body wash, etc. Functional without waste. Attentive staff: Night staff brought an extra quilt imediately, even though it was after midnight when I asked for it.

Poorly stocked bar (no grapefruit juice for me and I heard others commenting on other things that were not available that would usually be standard in a hotel bar).

Good price! Staff courteous and room exactly as we wanted. Easy to find, parking no problem and nice breakfast in morning. Many Thanks!!!

Near to the shopping area but I must say the Rose Bowl Holiday Inn when we stayed there last has spoilt us

Dining area is very cramped for breakfast, not enough space to walk between tables. Too much traffic noise from motorway in bedrooms - new triple glazed windows needed!

having to pay £2.00 for coffee out of a machine in the day and the meals were,nt very good and to expensive and not much choice.

Close to the cruise terminal

Breakfast was not good especially as we do not care for sausages, baked beans or scrambled eggs. Nor really much choice. We appreciate that this is an express holiday inn but felt that the cafeteria could have been better with not too much effort. We had this stay on a special offer so did not mind too much but would not have felt breakfast provision was good enough had we been paying full price. Ragarding the next question: We would recommend hotel for an overnight stay but not for breakfast and not for a stay as a holiday for a longer term.
