Staff were very friendly and helpful
The rooms in the grounds of the hall were too small for a couple as were the beds in these rooms. the shower was also very poor
the comfort of the bed and bedding the pillows were nice and plump much better than the wafer thin things you tend to get at most hotels
the only problum I had was at breakfast the fryed eggs had been there so long that they had gone very rubbery and like frizzbys but the waitress soon got me some fresh ones
Lovely grounds, very friendly staff and plenty of amenities. I liked the layout of the room
Due to the layout of the ensuite we were unable to stand up in the shower
The room, the view, the food, the ambience... all very relaxing!
There was no shower in my room, only a bath and to my surprise, no one offered to help me with my 3 bags up 3 flights of stairs (there was no lift)
The staff were amazing at making our anniversary very special. We'd already booked to go back before checking out - its that good!
The hall is fab
Bed to small only a 3/4 bed not good for 2 adults
Food and place is beautiful
Guests in room above arguing and banging from 11.30pm til 3am!
Staff were very friendly and the hotel was gorgeous. Will definitely be going back.
Lovely setting Spacious room View was stunning
I didn't like the bed up against the wall but that is the only fault
Excellent food, super friendly staff and amazing surroundings. We stayed on the top floor of the main building (I think there is also accommodation outside of the main hall). The room was nice, we had a shower (no bath and not requested) toilet and sink in a separate bathroom and a view on to the garden and fountain. There was a bar menu to choose from and a restaurant menu, we only ate from the bar menu which was ample. Breakfast was great, cooked scrambled eggs on request and all food was hot and fresh. Lots on offer too. We visited Witney on the way which was brilliant. We also visited Oxford town and used the park and ride as parking is known to be a little difficult.
Nothing, the place was brilliant and we will definitely re-visit at some point in the future. The bed was a little too firm for my liking but I am sure that not everyone would want a soft bed either so no doubt some will find this a reason to complain.
Driving up to the main house was amazing
We were told to drive around to 'the lodge' which i a new build. The room was small, and the towels were stained and holey. The shower dribbled. None of the staff told us to go and serve ourself for breakfast, and if I'm being really picky they didn't have any decaff tea.
Great breakfast, beautiful grounds. To get into Oxford and avoid the parking there, park at Hanborough station and get the train in.
We never got to use the pool, the whole reason we booked this hotel. There was a problem with it which was not fixed in the time we were there. Great shame.
Good size swimming pool and sauna. Great atmosphere at dinner, good food. Fantastic breakfast.
Our food at dinner took a long time to arrive.
Room 26 it was the noisiest room ever the bed was very very hard
Lovely location. Excellent staff. Nothing was too much trouble. When we complained about the disturbance from communicating room, we were moved to another, quieter room. Excellent breakfast.
First room had communicating door, so even when the TV was on very quietly in the adjoining room, it could be heard clearly
The Main Hall. The restaurant. The ground.
While functional, new and clean, the lodge rooms are very small. No where for two people to relax.
Our room was large and comfortable. Food was good and hotel very impressive.
There was plenty of comfortable relaxing space, sofas, tables and chairs etc in giant rooms/halls to spend time resting, chatting, reading, playing games or going on line. Food was to a high standard, both the bar and resteraunt happy to enhance your stay. The stately home, within in it's own rolling grounds, provided ample opportunity for post meal walks and fresh air.
My only negative, I went for a swim at 6:30 in the morning, but already it was crowded out making it difficult to swim many lengths un interrupted.
The building was fantastic, rooms were nicely decorated and a very nice breakfast. Staff at the hotel were very friendly.
The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've ever slept on.
The staff were really helpful - I felt sorry for them as they are clearly aware of how poor the rooms are and must put up with so many complaints!!!
The standard of the bedroom was below the worst travel lodge I've stayed in ! It was like a sketch from faulty towersThey are refurbishing soon apparently.
The house, the grounds, the view from my bedroom, the beautiful dining areas and their fireplaces.
Bathroom let down the room, spooky corridors to walk through when staying in main hall. Food in restaurant and bar was good but the range was limited and somewhat overpriced.
The staff were lovely and everything was just so. Unfortunately I became ill and had to go home early but they gave us £50 off our bill which was a lovely gesture and they didn't have to do.
Only one thing which is a personal preference was the bed. Not that supportive.
Beautiful building great staff
Poor/no wifi in lodge Bed tired Cobwebs on ceiling Noise from upstairs and delivery lorry warming engine outside in evening. We asked specially for a quiet room
