The hotel was on n easy reach of all amenities. It's friendly, clean and a quiet place at night. The staff have no trouble helping you with anything you need from taxis to ironing. There wasn't anything I didn't like really. Perhaps the hill up to the hotel is a little steep but its worth the effort as you return home to a fresh new clean room that's very private.

Walkable distance into Bowness restaurants and to Lake Windermere, although up a short steep hill. Off street parking and easy access by car to the rest of the Lake District so a good base. New bathroom. Very helpful host re walks A little worn for the price

Tony's nice hospitality. Too soft bed & shower in the bathroom is too small to move and the water, hot water comes so slowly.

Friendly owners who make you feel like you are welcome into their home and who greeted us like old friends, remembering us from a single short visit we had made last summer. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in Fairfield House is relaxed and cosy, and the garden is full of birdsong. My partner and I wouldn't bother trying to find alternative accommodation in any future visits to the Lake District...why would we when Fairfield House has become such a significant part of our holiday experience. Thankyou :-) That we couldn't have more time off work to stay there longer :-D

We liked the fact that it was near to the shops and attractions but far enough away to be secluded...we liked the help and attention and service we were shown, and we also liked the garden area which would be lovely to sit in the summer watching all the birds,in the summer months we were informed that you may take breakfast on the patio If you have difficulty walking then the hotels location may not be for you We found the steep hill a bit tiring when we first retuned from our day out..but the owner Tony informed us of another route which was not as steep but all inall we would have no reservations about stopping at the Fairfield again

Very welcoming staff. Tony was great and Victor (from Barcelona) was a really pleasant young man. My wife was really taken by the Spa bath. Heating was powerful so room warmed up quickly. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. The walk up from the town whist short is really steep and elderly guests might struggle. Lighting in the room was (as with most places) poor. If you use energy saving lights you can up the wattage a little bit for minimal cost.

Fairfield House is located centrally to Bowness on Windemere. The staff were friendly and helpful with good recommendations for meals and sightseeing. The breakfast was good with cheerful response to our requests for variation on the standard fare. The rooms were small for those with two large suitcases to be accomodated. The location, up a steep hill (typical for Bowness?) required use of a car to access restaurants in the town as one of our party had limited mobility. Parking fees in the town seemed much higher than elsewhere in the UK.

Liked that it was near to the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere and the pier and shops were within walking distance. The room was comfortable to a certain extent, although the shower was fantastic. The owner Tony was very friendly and very helpful. The member of staff who served us breakfast was also very helpful and very friendly, but unfortunately we did not get his name. It is a beautiful old country house and in lovely surroundings. The steep hill to Fairfield House, not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Booking.com offers a superior room (which we thought we were in) but we were informed on checking out by Tony's wife, after my husband had asked her if she was (who we also thought was a bit abrupt) that we had been upgraded to a delux room as it had a spa bath!!!! Although this is what is advertised on booking.com as a superier room. The doors could be doing with being painted properly and the walls could do with a fresh coat of paint as there were scrapes on them. The bed wasn't the most comfortable we've been in. On our last morning my husband didn't want a full english and asked for 2 rashers of bacon along with an egg and black pudding but was informed by Tony's wife that you only get one piece of bacon!!! Overall we did enjoy our stay, but to be honest, we thought that £354 for 3 nights was a bit expensive for what we got. However, would we go to this guesthouse? Yes, we would as Tony is so nice.

Clean comfortable accomodation good choice for breakfast could do with beans though on full English ,staff pleasant. Short walk from town centre and lake ,it is situated uphill from town but this is the lake district so you have to expect that and it does work off the meal before you go to bed!!!! Lovely old house would stay again anytime.
