This Victorian guest house is 2 minutes' walk away from Ayr beach and promenade. Craggallan is a family-owned business in a quiet, attractive conservation area.
Score from 135 reviews Exceptional
Boasting panoramic views over the Clyde to the Isle of Arran, and only 5-minutes’ walk from Ayr town centre, the hotel presents itself as the ideal base from which to explore the beauty of Ayrshire.
Score from 112 reviews Very good
Fantastic sea view room and staff were great as always!
Noise from leisure suite ventilation/air con kept us awake.
a peaceful night away, with a wonderful meal and breakfast.
Everything about this hotel/staff/rooms/food was perfect. Location is brilliant too.
Went to see the AYR air Show and the hotel bordered the showground, which was a big bonus. Staff were very good and helpful
the décor in the Burns room (tartan wallpaper) I think even Rabbie would have frowned on it
Fantastic hotel with spacious room and bathroom. Excellent food at the restaurant. Huge playground near hotel next to the beach
Slow service at the restaraunt, but food is excellent
Staff efficient and very helpful in everyway . Food of a high quality, but perhaps depending on your choice from the menu lacking quantity. Breakfasts superb . Hope to return in january 2015 with a group of 25 friends. Room very comfortable and contained all necessary requisites.
Disapponted that one of the towels in the bathroom on arrival was wet. Obviously missed when room was prepared. Only a minor fault. Our room on the ground floor looked directly on to a wall.
Exceptional hotel with excellent staff With food quality to match Book without hesitation - you won't be disappointed
bar area very relaxing FOOD GOOD
noisy fans in bathroom cleaning staff very loud early morning
Beautiful Suite with very large room and En-suite . Massive bath with copious amounts of fast flowing hot water . Excellent range of breakfast food. Swimming pool with Jaccuzi , Steam room, Sauna and showers
Our only gripes were the wifi which was pretty poor and large double glazing units which would not close properly causing the wind to whistle in through the night
the location is great the staff very friendly and a very comfortable hotel.
nothing to report re this
good atmosphere and great food very nice location . stars awarded are well deserved.
no faults found
Close to the town centre and beach Friendly helpful staff
The room was a bit tired, wallpaper peeling, bathroom shelf sloping. Had to wait too long for our main course at dinner (over 45mins)
Beautiful spacious room, large bathroom, very comfortable. The staff were welcoming & couldn't be more helpful. Well located, our room overlooked the park out to sea, and plenty of parking. After 5 weeks of travel, this was one of our top rooms, made more so by the friendly staff. We will be back in the future, for a longer stay.
Friendly staff, excellent food, good facilities, good location
Comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Leisure facilities were good
Bed was uncomfortable and meals were boring.
Location is good, hotel comfort and facilities all good.
Full breakfast was poor. scrambled eggs were runny black pudding was poor quality and tomato was over cooked Bar prices were over the top at £13.40p for two glasses of rose wine of poor quality. No wonder the bar was empty. Wi Fi poor
Lovely view over park and beach to Aran Islands Very helpful and pleasant front desk staff and helpful waiting staff
Helpful and friendly staff Very good breakfast Large room
Location was perfect for beach and shops being just a short walk.
Our lovely big en suite bedroom had frosted windows which was disappointing. Luckily we were only staying one night.
The restaurant served excellent food.
The room did not have a safe, and there was no specific lighting to enable make up to be applied properly.
Lovely hotel, great location, enjoyed out stay and if we are in area again we will stay here, providing we get a room with a view
For a 4 star hotel I wasn't impressed with the view from our room (44) air con vents and a couple flue pipes,it was quite noisy as well, the air con wasn't great within the room either,we had drinks in the bar and thought they were a bit expensive.
View from room(45)looking onto vents and a wall
Martins restaurant were excellent and good value. The staff were very friendly and had a sence of humour that is sometimes missing these days in hotels such as this. All in all a very good experience
The location of this hotel is great
