A warm welcome awaits you at this privately owned 4-star hotel, a fully restored and refurbished Victorian mansion house situated on Ayr's seafront, recapturing the essence of country house hospitality. Great care has been taken to preserve the unique character of this charming house, while every modern facility has been discretely installed for the comfort of today's discerning traveler, with easy access to the nearby Glasgow Prestwick Airport. The hotel offers a fully equipped health club with swimming pool, sauna and steam room, gym and in-house beauty therapist. All the rooms with private bathrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated to a standard one would expect from a 4-star hotel. The creation of additional bedrooms results in a great balance between old and new. The new Martins Bar and Grill restaurant was voted Best Informal Dining Restaurant in Scotland at the Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards in 2006. A quality hotel with a quality restaurant. The food was excellent, the evening meal was of the highest standard, and the morning breakfast was excellent. The room was of the highest standard with a great view over the Firth of Clyde. The staff were generally helpful. When I checked the bill for the evening meal several items (coffees, drinks and other courses) had been added. The staff apologised and quickly agreed the correct bill. Unfortunately, when we checked out the following morning, further items had been added, e,g, drinks ordered at a time when we were not even in the Hotel, coffees and other drinks in the evening, but again the staff quickly agreed the required alterations. I suggest that they should introduce a more reliable method of charging items to the bill rather than simply asking the guest for their Room Number.

The hotel was lovely, parking was on offer for guests which ment that cars were not on the road overnight. Rooms were a good size and within walking distance to Ayr racecourse. Leisure facilities are small but clean. Would definately visit again.

We had a very relaxing break. The hotel is very comfortable and not too big and busy like other 4 star hotel can be. Our executive room was large and very comfortable, well furnished with a lovely big bathroom. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was good too, with lots of choice. It is in a great location, just back from the promenade. Our room was lovely but the windows were opaque and we had no view. that was disappointing given the proximity to the sea front.

The location was great, staff friendly made you feel welcome at all times received a seaview room which was good would stay again anytime thanks to all the staff The only thing that we were not happy with was on 2 mornings eating breakfast the cleaner came out from the kitchen with a mop went into the toilets then back out into the kitchen and the smell of cleaning material was very strong and think it should have been done when the breakfasts were finished maybe something to note .

We have stayed at this beautiful Hotel before. We brought friends with us this time and they also loved it. Most staff were very friendly and very helpful. We bokked two executive rooms as we had stayed in one before 2nd floor rooms 15-19 with side sea view. These rooms were fabulous with a massive bathroom and beautiful roll top bath. I was hoping for that this time but we were given the lovely Burns room. No roll top bath but no less impressive and a full sea view. Our friends were in Racing and again no roll top bath but a fab and huge room. I have to say, having stayed in quite a few hotel rooms, I havent stayed anywhere with rooms a big, roomy or more comfortable than these. Dinner menu was limited in choice but most could find something to eat an certainly not be disappointed. If you are really hungry, we recommend the burger.
