Helpful staff, great pool etc and superb food
Staff friendly and very helpful, nothing too much trouble
meals on the costly side especially continental breakfast
The welcome was good although the foyer is something to be desired.
The room was a superior room but was old and felt scruffy I have stayed in better B&B's. For the price we expected better.
Good all round experience
Accommodating reception staff. They stored some champagne in their fridge for us as there was no fridge in the hotel room. The facilities and setting overall were lovely and I would recommend a stay here.
Changing rooms in the spa facility had dirty floors. There wasn't a jacuzzi in the spa facilities, although the rest of the facilities were nice. There were a couple of used plates left in a corridor outside our room overnight. Looked a little scruffy. We highlighted on our booking that I had a nut allergy, however, this did not seem to have been relayed onto the restaurant staff when we went down for breakfast in the morning.
Very friendly personell. They were very helpful
ongoing renovation. Some corners aren't very polished.
Great room; very friendly and professional staff.
The Bar area is small so it has been over crowded with tables and chairs. Good bar food but not very easy to just sit and eat quietly.
We specially liked the spa and the food at dinner.
It was left to us to ring and book a table for dinner despite booking three rooms and stating we were coming for a special occasion.also the table we were given was very squashed up,a corner near to the kitchen.this was a special birthday but no member of staff asked about it. Also the staff were very pleasant but at breakfast there was not enough of them.
Upgrade to interesting Junior Suite Superb quality restaurant that was also good value
Spa was brilliant leisure team were brilliant especially nick
Seperate beds for a married couple right above the function room which was so loud it was unreal food totally over priced and small portions and my husband cut his mouth on his liqueur coffee to be told sorry and you can have your coffee for free I was appalled the whole meal should if been free and his mouth was actually bleeding disgraceful
This is a good hotel that gets all the major things right: - Very comfortable, spacious, modern room, spotlessly clean and thoughtfully laid out with all the conveniences – hairdryer, ironing board, kettle, safe, and so on. - Huge, very comfortable, bed with good pillows. - A good shower with good quality towels and a heated mirror in the bathroom. - Delicious breakfast with decent coffee. - Nice setting as you drive in with trees and a smart car park. - Most of the staff, particularly the gentlemen, are skilled at customer service and interested in the details. One charmingly tried to remember our room number as we went into breakfast. Another went out in the pouring rain to straighten up a fallen umbrella. - I didn’t try the spa but it looked and smelled very nice.
Room for improvements: - The worst designed entrance I ever recall seeing. A maze of concrete and fencing and a glass structure that doesn’t reach the car park to keep you dry. If you’re looking for a country-retreat style hotel with an elegant entrance, this isn’t it. - Outdated, very small, reception area. Ugly carpets and an ugly desk with a lukewarm welcome from the ladies behind it. - I think there are training issues: For example: o My requested newspaper not delivered, ladies on front desk looked baffled. Then they got me the wrong one and looked at me blankly without a word. It eventually arrived after the opportunity to read it had passed. o At breakfast, you have to spell everything out. A glass of water? Yes. And now please bring one for my friend. More coffee? Yes, and now please bring us some more milk. And so on. o Chambermaid ignored “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door and knocked to ask if she could clean, and proceeded to engage me in a conversation about it. - If you’re not dining, strange choices on the bar menu.
Pillows so awful I woke with a terrible sore neck and shoulder. The configuration of the room was as though we were in a caravan. Very cramped and we were in a junior suite!
Beds were very comfy. Shower was really good.
Food and drinks very expensive and not exactly amazing food! Also felt the hotel was understaffed for the amount of people staying.
Personal service Friendly Good food Good pool & spa area Comfy beds Good quality Toiletries
Reception could do with updating, bit cramped Restaurant bit dated, not got the same contemporary feel of the bedrooms which were lovely and modern and very comfortable
We were upgraded to a suite but it was most peculiar and not suitable - double room much better.
spa facilities bed really comfy breakfast (when it was correct)
breakfast was brought out 4 times before getting our order correct drinks prices were stupidly expensive and hardly any choices
Friendly staff, lovely grounds, comfy bed and spacious bathroom. Very good breakfast.
Not that keen on the bar area. Awkward space. Our bedroom carpet was dirty - looked like muddy shoes.
Location and bar area.easy access to family.
Bed wasn't very comfortable.no bottled water in the room. Room rather small.
The food absolutely exceeded our expectations. Accommodation was superb and the staff (without exception) excellent. We would thoroughly recommend this Hotel to anyone who enjoys high end breaks.
They gave me the wrong room, twin instead of double
Received an upgrade to a deluxe double room. Nice large room and the bathroom had a good shower.
Pillows smelt of rubber and were not at all comfortable! Mobile reception was very poor - couldn't take or receive calls. Also, could only get one station on the TV - BBC 1 - not good for an upgraded room!
The service The meals The comfort of the room The leisure facilities
Poor internet connection
My sons and their wives thought the hotel was perfect.
Booking for them was tiresome and time consuming with confusion over prices because of booking through booking.com. And having to pay (it seemed endlessly) by internet as they would not take card payment over the phone.
