Room comfortable and bathroom excellent. Poor View from bedroom window. Also too much dark red in decor in public rooms, and furniture in bar was dark and sofas looked cheap. Not a good look for a quality hotel.

One of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. Helpful staff. Better than a lot of hotels where I have paid twice the price. Pool could have been a little warmer, but this is by no means a complaint, just an observation, or maybe I am just getting soft in my old age.

Having visited Fairlawns in 2011 and thoroughly enjoying our stay, I decided to treat my partner for Christmas and book us an overnight spa stay. We had been looking forward to this for two months. The first time we stayed, we booked through the hotel direct because we had Spa vouchers that would only be accepted by yourselves. We had the most fantastic time, felt like royalty, enjoyed all the experience of the pool and the steam and sauna rooms, the foot spas and heated loungers, enjoyed the grazing bar and we left so chilled and refreshed and vowed to come back and treat ourselves. This time, we booked through booking.com, not thinking this would make any difference whatsoever, how wrong we were. We went to the poolside bar instead and were served by friendly staff. We enjoyed the afternoon chilling out and felt all relaxed for our evening meal. We were served by a lovely young lady, named Laura, who advised us that we were on the “dinner, bed and breakfast deal” so could choose from the menu and if we required specialities, we could have them and they would be added to the bill. She helped us choose what to have and we really enjoyed the meals, it was lovely food and the service was impeccable. We felt back on track. All chilled and refreshed. We had a wonderful night’s sleep in our very nice room, although we couldn’t make a cup of tea as we had only been given two teabags, which we had had on arrival. I am an honest and hardworking citizen, yet I came away from Fairlawns (26/2/13) feeling like the lowest of the low. We were asked for payment on arrival, which is fine, then the receptionist (whose name I unfortunately cannot recall) advised us of the time we were booked for dinner and that breakfast was between 7.30 and 9.30am in the same area. We then went to our rooms and got changed into our robes and headed to the spa. We were firstly advised that we didn’t check in upstairs anymore, we now had to go downstairs and fill in temporary passes. The next bad encounter was on entering the grazing bar, we were told that we were not allowed in there on “our package”, although on the door it stated that the area was for staying guests (which we were). We woke up all refreshed on Tuesday morning, really looking forward to our breakfast, we went down and went into the restaurant, were shown to a table and gave our room number. The young lady then came back and told us that we were not entitled to breakfast on our package. On going to reception I was spoken to like a piece of dirt, the woman informed me that no-one would have told me I was entitled to breakfast, in hindsight this means she was calling me a liar, and she said she would speak to the day manager. My partner then had to lower herself to ask for teabags and milk so we could make a drink in the room. By the time the day manager rang the room, yes, didn’t even come up to the room, we had already showered and packed to head home, we were giving up the rest of our spa treat, because we felt that low from the way that we had been treated. So when he offered to let us have breakfast at the pre-booked price, I very politely (though burning inside) declined the offer. We travelled from Manchester to have the same experience as previous, I had been around 6 other spas closer to home, but felt they didn’t come close to Fairlawns and went the extra to spoil my partner.

Friendly helpful staff, food was really nice We were charged 10 pounds for 1 banana that our 9 month old baby had for breakfast one morning and 10 pounds for 1/2 a piece of toast he had off my breakfast the second morning, shame because otherwise the hotel was very good. The heating went off every night and it was freezing which isn't very good when there is a baby in the room.

The service is excellent! From reception through to the spa and restaurant everyone was friendly and gave me the distinct feeling I was a guest not a visitor. I received a warm hello from every member of staff I made eye contact with and many that I didn't.

I booked at Fairlawns Hotel, because my friends said that it is a lovely hotel and the food is wonderful. I booked this as a surprise for my husband, because I have been so ill for over 3 months. My husband did everything, looking after the children, cooking, washing and caring for me. The Hotel Staff at the reception were absolutely wonderful, very welcoming, full of smiles all day and night. Not one person had a miserable face!!!! We explained that we are Deaf, the Staff did not look as if we were from another planet!! As most people do!!!! The Bedroom is wonderful, very clean and had a relaxing feeling in the room. The Bar Staff treated us like Royalty, so polite, checking that we were ok at all times. The Food was absolutely brilliant, so fresh, laid out beautifully and the Staff were so helpful and checking to see if we were ok. I have been to many hotels, "top hotel" (which was stated on the internet). The Fairlawns Hotel and Staff is the best of all. We will be returning, but stay much longer. We live in Walsall, so not far! We felt as if we were miles away! We both feel that there is no need to go miles and miles to get away or to big hotels. I would like to take this opportunity to thank every-one for making our stay so magical. I could not find any faults what so ever! so if you get any negatives feedback - they need their eyes testing!!!

This was our second time staying here staff are just lovely, everyone was really warm and friendly, My husband was there for business and I had a few days using the spa and leisure facilities, and felt very comfortable on my own. Particularly the staff in the restaraunt and the spa girls were particularly welcoming and professional - we had been upgraded to a superior room which was perfect for our stay. Bonus having the free wifi too. Will definately use hotel again.

Good room, tastefully decorated. Superb SPA facilities. Very friendly staff, especially the Isaac hayes lookalike on night bar duty. Could do with special weekend offers. £115 B&B seemed a tad expoensive for Aldridge. Perhaps if you threw in the occasional Dinner.
