We’d been looking for a family room near the Kielder Observatory and most pubs needed us to take two rooms or other accommodation needed us to stay two nights. The Boe Rigg had a family room and very reasonably priced. The photos didn’t do the accommodation justice. When we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised to find a lovely large airy room with both kitchen facilities and an tv/seating area. There’s a lovely cozy bar area in the public section, restaurant and outdoor tables overlooking beautiful fields which is home to the campsite. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. There is some renovation work going on it the campsite facilities but it wasn’t a problem.

Great little Roman inspired town just 5 miles south of Hadrians Wall. The Abbey and it's grounds dominates the town. Many indepent shops to browse in plus well known retailers in the nearby retail parks, Enjoyed the Country Park alongside the River Tyne. Would have been great to see salmon leaping up the weir when spawning season begins. Wentworth car park with it's 24 hour white bays is perfectly located close to the town. The Abbey guide recommended nearby Corbridge to visit but we didn't have time this visit.

It is quite an interesting place in parts mainly round the market square, the abbey, old jail and the pleasure gardens but the downside is the large supermarket area and nearby chop board factory belching out smoke continually. Some interesting little shops too.

Hexham is a beautiful place, very picturesque.
Hexham is a beautiful place, very picturesque. I was visiting for a friend's wedding and didn't have a lot of opportunity to explore but I'd definitely like to visit again in the future. There was a variety of shops and the town itself is very peaceful. I visited the town's Wetherspoons and found it to be very welcoming with friendly people. I would definitely recommend a visit!

What a lovely town! Reminded me of Harrogate.

Lots of lovely independent shops, particularly a book shop which was an absolute delight. Couldn’t find a yarn shop though. Hexham Abbey is a beautiful building and part of an active parish with good choirs and an excellent organ. Great place to explore Hadrian’s Wall, the reason we were there.

Hexham is a lovely town with friendly people and great local shops and pubs. We only had one evening there and had to leave early Sunday morning before we had a chance to explore the lovely shops. We did see the Abbey and there was a brilliant exhibition there with great interactive activities for children.
We ate at the Heart of Northumberland pub and the food and service was fantastic. We stayed at the Beaumont and had breakfast there, which was really delicious.
Hexham is also great for access to Hadrian’s wall. We definitely could have stayed longer.

Historic place, down to earth folk, still good value for money, just about holding the gentrification, avocado smashed or otherwise, at bay. See it before the cost of a coffee exceeds a pack of smokes.
The hotel is in a great location near to the abbey and local pubs and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived in October on ‘spook night’ in hexham (by chance) so the centre was busy, but the hotel emailed us to let us know and staff went out of their way to help us park (despite roads being closed off). The breakfast was really fantastic and made us wish we’d stayed for dinner too (although we had a great meal at the heart of Northumberland instead). The room and bathroom was lovely and had everything we needed.
The staff were all very helpful and the food was good. I particularly liked the breakfast. They are very dog friendly and we found a cover for the bed so the dogs could go on with a towel provided for the dogs and a bag of dog treats. At breakfast the dogs are treated like guests and they were provided with a breakfast of sausage and scrambled eggs. The hotel provided a long stay parking disc which is valid in the town car park which is about a 3 or 4 minute walk from the hotel
Such a beautiful little property, combining character with comfort. The hosts provide so much and it is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds, modern kitchen and shower room. Lovely log burner which we lit on both our evenings there. Great location close to Hexham and Hadrian's Wall. Food options within walking distance in the village - although the kitchen is so well equipped that we cooked and ate in.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The mattress and bedding were comfortable and clean. The train station is across the street, and it's just a short walk to the center of town (cafés, shops, and Hexham Abbey). Breakfast in the morning was wonderful, and I really appreciated that I could leave my bag while attending an all-day conference. Would definitely stay again.
Rooms and food were excellent but what made Walwick Hal stand out was the excellent service from all staff. Attentive, friendly but not overly so. The hotel grounds were beautiful and very peaceful for a real " get away from it all" break yet close enough to places of interest, Hexham etc.
Very helpful conversation with Susan on phone helping us to find the apartment. A very warm and gracious host. The apartment was done up so tastefully. It was very comfortable and quiet despite being in the heart of Hexham. Couldn't have asked for more. Thoroughly recommended
Location to centre of town good quiet street with on street parking, we found a parking space straight away.
Good train service to get a bit further afield as we didn't want to drive out.
Very friendly people, plenty of bars and restaurants in Hexham.
The location of the George Hotel is perfect for someone walking the Hadrian's Wall National Trail. The room I was given was almost a suite, it was very large with a sofa to relax, shower and bath. Breakfast was buffet style. Great value for money!
Lovely location in the hills around Hexham with lots of trees. Room was excellent. Very peaceful. Convenient to the historical locations in the region. Not too far from Newcastle. Great restaurant/pub just down the hill (book ahead for meals!).
The location was excellent for our appointment in Corbridge and the owner of the hotel kindly took us into town, after providing a lovely breakfast. The beds were extremely comfortable too. Thank you again Carolyn & hubby.
Couldn’t fault this place at all, Steve and Maria made us feel so welcome! Set in a beautiful area I can’t wait to come back and visit hopefully for longer than 1 night next time so I can really explore the place!
The Vaults what a gem tucked just off the road.
Cosy place to stay well equipped not far from Hexham town centre.
We had a lovely stay and didn't want to leave.
Will definitely be back to stay.
Lovely welcoming staff and nice hotel. Our room was clean and spacious with lovely view over river. Restaurant good and breakfast excellent. Great location if walking the wall.
Lovely decorated property like you were in a fancy hotel and with a garden too. I liked having two key safes. Location was good for Hexham centre and park close for dog walking
Really friendly pub/hotel. All the staff are really good. Location was only a short walk from the centre of Hexham and free parking for 24 hours is close by.
