location car parking facility excellent WiFI
Fir foir purpose in every way but decor in parts was more 3 star than 4star. eg the lift Lighting generally low and no lights above bathroom mirror.
Room 207 was way too hot.
Stayed at this hotel 4 times now. Always been pleased with rooms, staff and location. Food lovely too. Would recommend to a friend.
The TV connection was very poor. We were in the old part of the hotel this time and found it quite noisey with the creaking of floorboards.
We were in the old part of the hotel, very authentic with sloping floors
Breakfast not included and would have cost us £10 each and also had to pay for car parking
Was supposed to be prepaid but they hadn't taken payment
Executive double room was great Lots of space nice balcony Free wi fi Good TV ect.
The location and staff. The rooms were like stepping back in time.
Disappointed that the fires in the bar weren't lit and the need for 2 televisions in the bar.
Bar under rooms is open until early hours can be very noisy
Excellent location, historic building and well-appointed room. Very convenient for the theatre (a 5 minute walk at max).
Wasn't tempted by the restaurant menu (but Marco Pierre White has a place right across the street with a very well-priced pre-theatre menu).
Good location lovely character
Woken at 6 am by a sound like a jumbo jet in the room!! And again at 7.30. Room v cold even though heating turned up. We complained about the noise and were told it was fans from the kitchen next to that room. No real apology we were very disappointed we would have been better off at a premier inn at least they offer a good night guarantee refund. The receptionist even admitted they know it is very loud in that room. Why do they put poor customers in there then??
the room, the beds, everything is so comfortable
I liked the location of the hotel and the quirkiness of the Tudor bedroom: uneven floors, wooden beams, creaky floorboards, pitched ceilings.
The decor of the rooms is a little outdated, frayed curtains, clinical main lighting in the bedroom and bathroom, damaged lamp shades, thin duvet. A fire alarm activated at 7.30 am. Guests gathered by the front door in night attire. I had to go and find a staff member to enquire what was going on. Nobody seemed to care.
We stayed for two nights and the staff were very helpful...We dined at the restaurant on both nights and the food was very good.
On the first evening we wegre given a room directly above the bar so it was very noisy. The following morning we asked to be moved to another room which the receptionist did straight away. It was much better.
The glorious period features of the hotel, its splendid location and the efficient and welcoming reception staff.
comfortable room.delicious dinner.helpful staff
waiting until to check in
Great location for all things Shakespeare and bars / restaurants
Room was rundown and tatty.
Proximity to theatre and town, comfort, lovely room ,friendly and helpful staff.
Location near RSC, good sized room, bed comfy, shower over bath but good performance, parking.
Reception staff could be more inviting and welcoming, no offer of help with bags to remote room, treat mature guests like students, " can only book in at 2.30 and may even be later", continental breakfast only included in price, common areas bit dark and gloomy, very limited amount of soap etc in bathroom
Location was excellent- easy walk to the Rover Avon and all of the historic Shakespeare sites. Extremely accessible to restaurants and shopping. Family room was spacious and easily accommodated our family of four. Noise from other guests was minimal.
The beds were not very comfortable.
GOOD PARKING/CENTRAL POSITION
Brilliant location. Great atmosphere. Great comfort. Friendly staff. Tastefully combined old and new styles
We arrived @ 13:30 after a drive from Dover , I asked the receptionist if we could check in 1/2 hour early....she said no....and told us to come back @ 14:30, 1/2 hour later than designated check in time.
