In a Grade II heritage-listed building, this historic hotel has gone through a £3 million restoration project, yet still retains its original features, open fires and wonderful antiques.

In the heart of historic Stratford-upon-Avon, this boutique hotel offers luxury rooms with a plasma TV. It is just a 10 minute walk from the Royal Shakespeare Theater.

Score from 1050 reviews Very good
Overlooking the RSC Theater, this 17th-century riverside hotel has parking and a bar. The center of town is a 5-minute walk away, and the train station is a 15-minute walk from the building.
Score from 449 reviews Good
As a single person I felt very comfortable and safe
East to find, super included parking, in the middle of the town, other super restaurants nearby. Comfortable room.
Bar could have more character. Shower did not work properly.
It was close to the town & the parking was good & our room was large & comfortable
When we had our dinner there we were the only two in the dining room so it lacked atmosphere & the portions were very small but t.he wine waiter was very pleasant
Stayed in old part of the hotel, room was superb, well equipped and clean, with good quality towels and bedding. Comfy bed, great "powerful" shower ,easy Wi fi. Great beer in downstairs bar, helpful friendly staff, great breakfast.
Can fault this Hotel...even parking was spacious and well organised.
Large modern comfortable room but front section is old Tudor style where you can relax with a drink. Food is excellent and service terrific. Secure car parking available.
No safe deposit box but felt the room was very safe.
Very close to town centre and my room was very nice and comfortable.
Breakfast was not included with the room.
We go to the RSC need I say more
It is in need of refurbishing, I understand this is about to take place
The location was excellent. The room excellent in the old part of the hotel, Bar staff extremely helpful although on occasions appeared not to speak very much English
The breakfast was extremely poor and we had to ask for items that had run out. The woman in charge of the dining room was totally unaware of her customer needs or even their presence! 25 minute wait for croissants that never appeared. 2 morning in a row. Very disappointed that the evening meal menu never changed, also very little choice. The staff on reception definitely require training in customer service and also shown what a smile is! Very difficult to park and very insecure just a free for all. In the past parking exclusive to the hotel.
Retuning to a place where we stayed about 30 years ago. Loved the ambience. Remains charming, casual, and comfortable. Food good. Pub area is fun. Staff was professional, yet easy-going and warm. Would return.
Position is great for theatre and staff very helpful
Decor in room a little tired
The location was the only redeeming feature.
Staff at reception ignored us while they chatted to each other on checking in. I came in with 3 heavy bags and porter walked past and ignored me. We went to their restaurant that night and was ignored by staff, we were finally seated and ordered steaks from the menu and told there were none (went over the road to mercure restaurant and had great service and great steaks. In the morning walked passed reception staff before checking out and was ignored - they could not even say good morning. WE WILL NOT BE BACK. Bed was uncomfortable and the room had a lot of street noise that kept us awake.
The bedroom was of a really good standard and much more that I would have expected for the price. really clean and comfortable. Staff friendly. No complaints.
The hotel is divided into a historic and a modern part. We were lucky enough to stay in the historic one. The rooms are fairly comfortable and the beds are OK. The hotel is located in the city centre and gives great access to the theatres and shopping area. There is a myriad of restaurants and pubs in the direct surroundings, but the hotel's own bar and restaurant hold their own. The on site parking was quite full during our visit, which was unfortunate. The hotel is going to be refurbished soon and will give the place the little lift it needs.
Our room (208) was near the fire escape, which is used by guests and staff for the cigarette breaks. Unfortunately the bathroom window is not frosted and people passing by can see straight through the window into the bathroom: we got a bit of a shock when that happened.
Not enough staff on front desk. Coffee machine out of order Cold Hot Chocolate
We were allocated a room in the old part of the hotel. The room was really querky. We loved it. Real old feel to it with wooden beams in the ceiling. The walk up to the room along the landings was wonderful with the latticed windows. It was very clean and we had an excellent stay.
We were charmed by the beautiful 16th-century building. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal - right in the center, 5 minutes walk to the theaters - - the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
Unfortunately our room was directly above the pub in the old part of the hotel, so extremely noisy from 6pm until well after midnight. We complained and did get switched to a quiet room in the new part of the hotel for our last night. However, I do think those rooms above the pub should only be sold with a warning about the noise.
Love the pub
Location excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.
Room too small. Lights didnt work. Radiator not hot enough in the room. Breakfast rolls were not fresh. Continental breakfast was poor value.
The staff are brilliant friendly helpful, Chrissy on reception is excellent - helpful , breakfast is excellent good choice and mushrooms too - served hot and filling - the hotel has old rooms dating back to 1500s at front yet modern rooms with life at the back - wonderful place
The look of the hotel from outside is one of character. Inside is a mix of ancient and modern. My room was large and welcoming. With free parking it is outstanding value for money.
Nothing to dislike
Excellent location. Good facilities.
Location and view from the room
Welcoming by staff and immediate looking into small problems that arose.
Thought breakfast was a little pricey for what you actually received.
Centre of town so perfect for popping back with shopping and to use own bathroom etc. Bar staff accommodating and humorous.
