What did I like?...... Would be easier to tell you what I didn't!! Just one bad point, stayed in room 4 and the shower was a bit rubbish, was running hot and cold all the time. Have written a review on trip advisor. Hotel is fantastic, relaxing, welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go back soon. Steak night on a Friday is well worth it, cooked to perfection. Revolving pool table is a real good laugh but can make you dizzy after a few drinks. Staff were friendly and polite and could not do enough for you. Decor of the hotel is in keeping with the period of the building and I do not think this needs to be uptdated. Its beautiful and well worth a visit. Wish we had stayed for 2 night but will do next time. Room 4 the shower runs hot and cold so takes longer to get ready and makes you jump when the cold hits you!!

The receptionist/waiter was excellent. Very friendly, chatty, helpful, energetic. Lovely building Splendid staircase Hotel bedrooms rather "tired". Showers poor. (I was in 2 rooms for my stay. Both showers poor). Room service would have been good as . Lunch would have been good (even if limited, snack type menu)

I thought that the room was a little over priced at £150.00 per room for one night inclusive of breakfast.

The room smelt damp and had condensation on the windows. I had two meals in the restaurant, one was good another one steak and overall quality of leal poor was poor. I felt the attitude of the manager could have been better when dealing with my complaint, he did not accept this and was dismissive. The room was clean, but overall I can only give a " fair" rating.

Great location on the edge of the Yorkshire dales - ideal for walking holiday. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant provided good value for money. The bedrooms are looking very dated. Need to be updated and freshened up. Bed was very uncomfortable and tv had very poor reception. With a lick of paint and some new bedroom furniture this could be a very good hotel.

Comfortable room. Lovely breakfast. Excellent base for a country break. Very helpful staff. Would certainly visit again. No complaints at all, but bottled water, alongside the tea-making facilities already in the room, would have been a welcome addition.

Welcoming staff always willing to help. Lovely views over countryside. Old world dignity of rooms and public areas. Cooked food not good as they were having chef problems. I had to pay double when there is only me now. As it is August I guess this is so everywhere but it makes the stay expensive.

We used a four poster bedroom as a special treat for our Wedding Night. Despite the hiccup with booking two rooms online and only receiving one on the night until another was found we thought the room was lovely. It just made it that extra bit special. It is easy to overlook things when transfering data but we did book two rooms online for ourselves and two other guests to find on arriving that only one room had been available. It was obviously a mistake and want to thank the Duty Manager who gave up his room for our guests and for the discount given. If there had been no room for our other guests it could have been a disaster as they had travelled a long way to share our event and unlike a town there was not much choice of any other option to go.

A comfortable country house hotel run by the owners, in a fine position in an outstanding area of the Yorkshire Dales. Settle is an attractive small market town worth a visit at any time of year, and the town centre is within easy walking distance.

The view from our spacious room was absolutely stunning. The room, though spacious, was decoratively a little tired but the biggest criticism must be of the bed which seemed well past its use-by date and was not conducive to a good night's sleep. Additonally, we were invited to have dinner at the hotel on the supposed attraction of a discounted steak night. As someone who values good food, I had made prior plans to visit the nearby Craven Arms which deserves its rich reputation. Funnily enough, those plans had not been made on the basis of potential discounts.

“Warm and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Having completed the 3 peaks walk and arriving late past 9pm in a party of 6 I was informed food had stop being served. Request was made if any food could be ordered and we were all delighted that dinner was made available much to our relief. Would have liked to have stayed longer.” Richard, Selby |
